Teachers are now back in their classrooms decorating, preparing for students, having meetings with administrators and simply getting geared up to meet the academic needs of students who are eager to learn and encourage others who are less inclined to enjoy school. The educational system in the 2026/2027 academic year is a complex myriad of digital integration, coping with diverse learning needs, increased multiculturalism, shifting standards and a wide range of expectations from parents, students and system leaders. For the majority of students, day one of classes will occur at the end of this week or the beginning of next week. For a grade one teacher like Danica Freadrich, the school year means endless patience, boundless enthusiasm, a healthy dose of energy and positivity, flexibility and prudent time management. Mrs. Freadrich, a second-year teacher, will be responsible for 22 eager and energetic students at St. Pat's School in Camrose this year in their crucial formative year of learning. Her goal is to create a classroom filled with kindness, curiosity, and joy. She believes every child has unique talents, strengths and abilities, and is committed to helping students feel supported, confident, and excited to learn each day!
