The contrast is overwhelming. Mirror Lake on a spectacular fall morning is simply breathtaking – a place where it is easy to get lost in time and ignore the sounds of traffic seemingly far off in the distance. A two-minute walk to the east, however, and the current landscape is a world away from a normal business environment. The noise and smell of heavy equipment is rampant as underground services work is being conducted by a multitude of manpower at a hectic pace. The project, originally slated to be one month in length and now a bit behind schedule, has proven to be an extreme challenge for businesses along 51 Street.
