False alarm bylaw closer to reality By Murray Green All that is holding the Camrose County council back from launching a false alarm bylaw is clarification from RCMP on protocol of when a call is considered a false call. Protective Services manager Mike Kuzio brought the matter to council at the July 14 meeting. “When an alarm system, within Camrose County, generates more than one false alarm within a consecutive 12 month time period, the County may charge the person responsible for the alarm system, business owner or home owner, a fee relating to the response of police emergency personnel,” said Kuzio. “A false alarm means any activation of an alarm system that results in any police action.” Council wanted clarification if the RCMP were called to respond, but were advised it was a false alarm prior to their arrival on scene. At what point in the response would it be called an offence. The cost of responding to a call begins once a RCMP member leaves the station, but council wanted it to be clear. Councillor Doug Lyseng wanted to know if police phone the residence prior to responding. He suggested people should leave a contact number. “I’m not sure about the protocol. Sometimes the alarm company sends out a dispatch and no numbers are given,” said Kuzio. Administrator Paul King thought the RCMP
attempts to call, but if no one answers they will automatically respond. After hearing the number of times (200) the Camrose RCMP Detachment has been called out in false alarms last year, Councillor Ken Krause directed administration to create a false alarm bylaw to be brought back to a future meeting (July 14), on May 26. Kuzio reported to council that he would like an education period to get the word out prior to issuing first warnings. “By the time the bylaw is in place, we are looking at the rest of the year as an education period and give warnings,” he reported. “We likely wouldn’t start fining people until 2016.” Council agreed that each resident will be allowed one false alarm warning before fines are issued. Some businesses have been guilty of as many as 15 false alarms in the past year when they simply didn’t report to the RCMP that it was a false alarm and that their services were not needed. A new bylaw will likely be structured with an increasing fine as the number of false alarms are reported. A proposal of $150 for the second offence, $250 for the third and $500 for each one after that is being proposed. “After a few $500 fines, people might be more inclined to read the instructions on how to operate the security systems,” added Krause, who is trying to
free the officers to do more important police work. “In some cases it is more than once a month to the same address.” Council reminds residents that if they are considering purchasing a security system for their property in Camrose County they should read the instructions several times. If you currently own a system, go back and read how to set the alarms properly, or it could prove costly. Camrose RCMP Sgt. Beth Philipp said an education process has to be in place. “Security companies sell these products with the pretence that the alarms and police will look after them. They should be teaching people how to use them properly. The piece that is missing from all of this is that people need to know how these systems work.” Councillor Jack Lyle moved first reading and Brian Willoughby made the second reading motion. Reeve Don Gregorwich suggested it would be wise seek more information prior to accepting third reading. Residents are encouraged to contact their councillor to offer input. Revenue from the fines would go to the County. In turn, the County funds a half-time person at the RCMP detachment. Villages have contacted the County about having officers patrol Edberg and Ferintosh in the future. Officer Kuzio is proceeding in seeking a services contract with the villages.

Parade ready to roll By Dan Jensen
You won’t want to miss a minute of this Thursday morning’s Camrose Chamber of Commerce BVJ Kick’n Country Parade. “It’s going to have a lot of variety,” said Camrose Chamber of Commerce administrative assistant Keiara Leibel. “We have 88 entries now (Monday morning) and more are coming in every day.” The Camrose parade had 101 entries last year and 98 in 2013, making it one of the biggest in the province outside Edmonton and Calgary. “We don’t know if we will get up to that number again but it should be pretty close,” said Chamber executive director Sharon Anderson. Parade marshals Some of the Camrose Chamber of Commerce small business award recipients from 2014 will serve as the official parade marshals. Special parade dignitaries will include PC Member of Parliament Kevin Sorenson, Wetaskiwin-Camrose MLA Bruce Hinkley, Camrose Mayor Norm Mayer, County Reeve Don Gregorwich and Wildrose leader Brian Jean. Musical entries will include the National Army Cadet Pipes and Drums from the Rocky Mountain National Army Cadet Summer Training Centre, as well as the Clan McNaughton Pipe Band from Edmonton. “We have a hard time attracting a lot of bands because our parade is so late in the summer,” said Anderson. Wild West Willy, a 3,000 pound Brahma bull, will be ridden by the winner of this year’s Take No Bull contest put on by the Family Violence Action Society. Ole Uffda, the Camrose mascot, will be on hand to pose for pictures in his western finery. The Village of Rosalind and the Camrose Veterinary Hospital will be making their first parade appearances. The Camrose Chamber of Commerce will be awarding plaques for the best entries in the commercial, non commercial, best decorated, visiting/community, antique, band and novelty categories. All the judging will be done by members of the Rotary Club starting at 9:30 a.m. Starting time The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. from the north end of Main Street and travel south until it reaches the United Church, where it will take a left hand turn. It will then proceed north again on 48 Street, eventually ending at 50 Avenue. A special viewing area will be set up at the United Church for residents of Rosehaven. Shut-ins and lodge residents will be able to watch the proceedings live by tuning into Channel 10. Jackie Rae Greening, manager of Edmonton operations for Newcap Radio and program director for CFCW, and CFCW broadcaster Pete Hicks will be providing parade commentary. Information about submitting late parade entries may be obtained by contacting the Camrose Chamber of Commerce office at 780-672-4217. All entries, including the towing vehicle, must be decorated.

Rental rates rose an average of $65 in past year By Dan Jensen
The average rent for a private apartment in Camrose has risen by $65 since April of 2014 according to a new rental market report published by the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Rental rates went from an average of $597 in April of 2014 to $676 in April of 2015 for a bachelor apartment, $713 to $769 for a one bedroom apartment, $876 to $943 for a two bedroom apartment and $904 to $962 for a three bedroom apartment. The average apartment rental rate in the province went from $1,089 in April of 2014 to $1,138 in April of 2015. The highest average rental rates are in Wood Buffalo, at $1,884, followed by Cold Lake at $1,346,
Grande Prairie at $1,149, Calgary at $1,214, and Edmonton at $1,110. The average cost of renting a two bedroom apartment in Edmonton is $1,250. The community with the lowest average rental was Lacombe, at $782, followed by Medicine Hat at $788, and Brooks at $831. The average cost of renting a two bedroom apartment in Lacombe is $823. The overall vacancy rate in Camrose for all apartment types (bachelor, one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom) increased from 3.3 per cent in April of 2014 to 3.5 per cent in April of 2015. The vacancy rate for bachelor apartments stayed the same at 4.2 per cent but increased to 3.8 per cent (up from 3.3 per
cent in April, 2014) for one bedroom apartments. The vacancy rate for two bedroom apartments decreased from 3.4 per cent in April, 2014, to 3.3 per cent in April, 2015. The number of private apartment units available to rent in Camrose is 954, down from 966 in April, 2014. Bachelor units total 24, one bedroom units 274, two bedroom units 632 (down from 644 in April, 2014) and three bedroom plus units total 24. The apartment vacancy rate in Camrose is the eighth lowest in the province, after Okotoks, Edmonton, Red Deer, Grande Prairie, Lacombe, Medicine Hat and Calgary. The highest vacancy rates are in Cold Lake at 22.8 per cent, Wood Buffalo
at 22.3 per cent, and Sylvan Lake at 8.3 per cent. Okotoks has the lowest vacancy rate at 1.9 per cent. The overall Alberta apartment vacancy rate was 3.4 per cent, compared to 1.8 per cent in the previous year, something the CMHC report attributes to softening economic conditions. “A decline in oil prices has slowed growth in the Alberta economy as oil and gas companies have reduced capital investments and employment,” states the report. “In particular, markets such as Cold Lake and Wood Buffalo, where the energy industry is a large share of the local economy, recorded increases in rental vacancy rates and declines in same sample rates.” The report noted that
Alberta’s slowing economy has attracted fewer migrants as the demand for labour in the oil and gas industry has moderated. “Total net migration to Alberta was down by more than 6,500 year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2014. While overall employment numbers increased by 2.3 per cent year-overyear in April of 2015, these gains were largely part-time positions, which grew seven per cent year-over-year, compared with one per cent growth for full-time positions. Reduced migration and a weaker labour market detracted from rental demand.” The Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation rental market report is published in June and October.

UNIDIRECTIONAL FLUSHING PROGRAM
Why the City of Camrose is implementing the Unidirectional Flushing (UDF) Program: 1. To maintain and improve the City’s water quality. 2. To improve water flow and pressure in the water distribution system. 3. To reduce bacterial growth, restore disinfectant residual, and improve water color. 4. Unidirectional Flushing uses 40% less water than traditional flushing programs due to increased water velocity. 5. In addition to scouring the water pipes, the UDF Program also gives the City the opportunity to check, exercise, and maintain all water valves and hydrants. The UDF program will begin July 9, 2015, starting with Zone A and will continue for 2-3 months. Water service should not be disrupted during the flushing process. There may be a slight drop in pressure or a presence of discoloration in the water from the minerals and sediments being flushed from the pipes. If discoloration is noticed, please turn the tap off for 15 minutes and flush from your bathtub tap until the water is clear. If there are any questions or concerns in regards to the Unidirectional Flushing Program please feel free to contact Emma Knapik at the City of Camrose Engineering Department at 780-672-4428. For additional information please visit the City of Camrose website at www.camrose.ca.

One idea. A success story

Watch for profiles in summer issues of the home team paper! Eight years ago, as the mom of three handsome young men, Kathy Helgeland got an idea. She noticed her sons were driving to Edmonton just to buy some jeans, maybe a hoodie or a tee shirt. Back home they would come, happy they were able to find something they enjoyed wearing. Kathy got an idea. She opened a store in Duggan Mall to provide young men with the clothes they like. She asked her boys what brands they wore. Buffalo, Quiksilver, Burton, Volcom, Oakley. Word spread quickly of this new store that carried all the current brands of men’s jeans, shirts, tees, hats, hoodies, dress shirts, sweaters. Young men came and liked what they saw. The wives and girlfriends also came and starting buying stuff for their guys. Then Kathy got another idea. Those young women who came to the store to buy for their men often brought little ones with them. Why not start offering clothes for youngsters? Brilliant. Roxy, Mexx, Guess, Volcom, Quiksilver and Bench are proving to be super popular. The moral of the story? Seeing a need, even right in your own home, can sometimes lead to an idea that leads to a career. Just ask Kathy, and her boys.

Jeunesse Medical Aesthetics
When you walk into Nutter’s, one of the friendly faces you’re sure to see is Susan Presetsky, manager of the Camrose location for the past twelve years. “We are continually changing,” says Susan. “For example, while there is still a perception that Nutter’s is strictly a bulk food company, it’s just not so. In the last nine years, I have seen a definite shift away from the traditional Nutter’s products, especially candy.” She is quick to point out that while Nutter’s still carries baking items, “and, of course, nuts,” they also carry an extensive selection of vitamins and supplements as well as a wide variety of organic and gluten-free foods. She notes, “We are continuing to bring in items that are more natural and healthier including personal care and household products. The evolution of our store is customer driven. Many of the new products you see on our shelves were brought in because of customer requests.” Susan believes Nutter’s has one of the best vitamin and supplement selections in the Camrose area. “Our vitamin manager, Yvonne, is a fountain of knowledge, and will always take the time to listen to any health care questions you may have.” “Customer service is our #1 priority,” states Susan. “We provide ongoing training for our staff because more knowledge for them means better service for our customers. Our advantage over the big box stores is that we know many of our customers by name and will always take the time to listen to their concerns.”

Ardelle Kerr,Owner, Quilting from the Heart Kathleen Riggins,Owner, The Sewing Center Ardelle Kerr, owner of Quilting From the Heart and her daughter Kathleen Riggins, owner of The Sewing Center, have a lot more than the obvious family connection in common. Both eat, breathe and sleep their hobby and their business passions –the amazing world of sewing and quilting. Ardelle was exposed to the art of sewing at a very early age, not surprisingly from her own mother on the family farm, near Amisk. This experience motivated her to earn a degree in Education at the University of Alberta. This progressed to teaching Home Economics at the high school level. She moonlighted - teaching adult

hobbyists simple or complex sewing. Over months and years, students routinely asked Ardelle about quilting and many courses, classes and tens of thousands of hours later, Ardelle and Roger Kerr opened their first store – Quilting From the Heart. Ardelle spells out her store concept simply with heartfelt words: “It’s a place for fun and creativity. It’s a place where, amongst friends, we create beautiful things”… Kathleen brings to her main street sewing shop a U of A Bachelor of Commerce Degree. Also a year’s experience working at a busy quilting shop in England! But home beckoned her and husband Rocky. With tremendous knowledge of machines’ capabilities, how to repair them, when necessary, and the patience and skill to teach others in the hobby, the couple now operates a booming small business. She writes a weekly quilting blog followed by people far and wide. Kathleen has earned a continent-wide reputation
for her creativity and competence in quilting. In fact, she is now under contract to some of the world’s leading fabric, quilting and machine companies because of her reputation and ability. She has produced designs and actual quilts for select, high-powered industry executives. And, in recent months, a real treat: Kathleen was presented with one of the world’s most elaborate quilting machines, featuring the absolute latest technology! It’s hers for at least one full year – her feedback and her perspective on this unit expected and valued by the design and manufacturing of machine company. An extra feather in her cap to be sure!

REFLECTIONS by Bonnie Hutchinson “The Sting” Updated
Back in the day, a popular movie called The Sting featured Paul Newman and Robert Redford as two small-time bad guys who created a cleverly disguised “sting” operation to get revenge on a bigger-time bad guy. So where’s a bad guy when you want one? That’s what I thought after reading a newspaper story that made me laugh. I’m sharing it with you to remember on a day when you are losing faith in the
human race. I read the story in the Edmonton Journal but the incident took place in Vancouver. ***
Vancouver’s Downtown East Hastings district is famous for drugs, violence, poverty, crime and many other kinds of human misery, and many vulnerable people. Vancouver’s police service had received 28 reports of violence against people in wheelchairs. Two-thirds of those incidents had taken place in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside district. One person in a wheelchair was sexually assaulted. Six others required medical attention. From the point of view of a staff sergeant in Vancouver’s police service, the worst of the worst were those who prey on people with disabilities. Assault and steal from someone in a wheel chair? He longed to shut that down. With the help of fellow police officers, peer support workers, rehabilitation specialists, and a borrowed wheel chair, the staff sergeant concocted a scheme to take down some of the perpetrators. The plan: disguise himself as a disabled man who had been brain injured in a motorcycle crash. Work undercover in a wheelchair, flashing around cash, cell phones and cameras. He was going to act as bait to criminals looking for an easy mark. When someone took the bait by attempting to hurt or steal from him, pounce. He was really looking forward to taking down at least one of the despicable creeps.
Letters to the Editor Letters are welcomed but please limit them to 400 words or less and sign with first name, initial, surname, address and phone number; only name of writer and city or town will be printed. Letters to third parties are not accepted. The Camrose Booster may edit for clarity, legality, personal abuse, good taste, public interest and availability of space. The Camrose Booster thanks you for your interest in the letters page and encourages your comments. Freedom of Speech
What happened to free speech? Jerry Agar in his column in the June 20 edition of the Edmonton Sun asked just that. I always thought that we had a freedom to express ourselves. But in reality this is not true.
It seems to me and Jerry that freedom of speech and religion are under attack. Just see how many places will allow you to express your gay beliefs but how dare a Christian express (his/her) beliefs. Praying in a public place is often looked down on. Yet, in the past years, I have seen from my taxi car very inappropriate words and actions that would make a nun blush. So where is the fairness in all of this? If we do have free speech, I sure am missing it very badly. If I am missing something, please someone write and enlighten us all. I am waiting for your letter. Lorne Vanderwoude, Camrose Control your animals
In answer to the letter
which was written to the editor in regards to people letting their pets use their property and the boulevard for their animals to pee and poop on. I am fairly certain that there is no point in complaining to your councillor or to the City of Camrose. Most pet owners have backyards; they should use that area for their dogs. If owners do not have a back yard there are off leash areas that the City has provided for the exercise of your dog. If pet owners would use these areas we would not have dog poop and pee in our parks, school grounds and private lawns. So come on Camrose pet owners, don’t be so lax; take your dog to the off leash area and be a friendly considerate neighbor. Mary Caunt, Camrose
Free book library at Railway Station
***
Lots of planning went into the operation. The sergeant grew some facial hair. Police analysts studied crime reports and identified five locations where there was the greatest likelihood of an attack – where he ought to troll. The sergeant himself surveilled the neighbourhood and watched how local wheelchair-assisted people conducted themselves. He spent hours in the borrowed wheelchair, practicing his moves. Then the staff sergeant wheeled into East Hastings district undercover. For five days he acted as visible bait, really hoping someone would try a serious assault or robbery on him. ***
The undercover operation didn’t go as planned. People kept trying to help him. They were friendly and encouraging. They offered him sympathy and hope. In five days of undercover work from his wheelchair, with gadgets hanging from his fanny pack for everyone to see, and after more than 300 “contacts” with people, the sergeant made not one arrest. Instead, people wanted to give him things. Passers-by dropped coins into his lap – $24 in spare change. People brought him food. Others just stopped to chat. Once, a man crouched over the sergeant, and reached in as if for the fanny pack. The sergeant tensed, ready for an attack. The man’s fingers touched the fanny pack. Then the prospective perpetrator zipped up the fanny pack and asked the sergeant to please be more careful with his things. Several other times, people stopped by to caution him – including known criminals! *** The police sergeant concluded that there is an honour system among some thieves. Robbing a disabled person is “below their ethical standards.” It was all very heartening – sort of. The sergeant was disappointed he didn’t get to make any arrests. The sting operation was not a “success.” A Vancouver Police Department representative was quoted as saying, “I wouldn’t describe it as a failed operation.” Word will spread. In the future, a thief might think twice when he sees a vulnerable-looking person in a wheelchair because that person might be a cop. The consolation prize: At the end of it, the police service was ahead $24. *** I’m stashing this story away, to remember at times when I despair about the human condition. At heart, most human beings are capable of being kind and generous.

Dr. Russell Schnell presents the free book library he built in Colorado to Association for Life-Wide Living past president Jane Ross, left, and Camrose Heritage Railway Station and Park chair Glenys Smith. By Dan Jensen
Visitors to the Camrose Heritage Railway Station and Park this summer will discover a new attraction. A book library built by Nobel Peace Prize co-recipient Dr. Russell Schnell for the Association of LifeWide Living of Alberta has been given a home in the Station’s Healing Garden. “It’s going to fit very nicely into our garden,” said Camrose Heritage Railway Station and Park chair Glenys Smith. “People will be able to come and sit there while doing their reading.” The library is made of wood and glass and is completely waterproof. “People who want something to read can take a book at no charge,” said Dr. Schnell. “If they have books at home that they want to put into the library they can do that as well. I am sure
someone else would love to have them.” Originally from Castor but now a resident of Boulder, Colorado, Dr. Schnell obtained the idea for the book library from his daughter, who lives in a ghetto in St. Louis. “She told me about what she wanted so I built one and took it to her,” he said. “It was such a hit that she was given an award by the City. Every Saturday now she goes to a place where she buys 10 to 20 pounds of children’s books with pictures and illustrations.” Dr. Schnell has built six of the book libraries so far. “I build them at home in Colorado and take them with me when I go places,” he said. “I fly so much to different places around the world that the airlines let me take about 500 pounds at a time.” Dr. Schnell is an honourary member of the Associa-
tion for Live-Wide Living of Alberta. He was the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Science degree at the Augustana spring convocation May 31. New signs The Camrose Heritage Railway Station and Park has developed three new signs that provide information about coal development on the prairies, the early grain elevators and the Victory Garden, which ran most of the length of 45 Street. “Victory Gardens were developed in places like Camrose during the First World War to encourage people to grow their own vegetables, so that more could go towards the war effort,” said Smith. “It was a total community effort. There are people who remember how, as children, they would come out to the garden to plant and weed and play with others of their own age.”

Which vacation W experience most over-delivers?
A:
That would be travel by rail. In Canada, we have relatively few major rail trips but the ones that are aavailable are absolutely first-class in tterms off service, i sight-seeing potential and value for your dollar. There is no better way to see the Rockies! Side trips are spectacular. In the United States there are fabulous trips by rail, including a highlight excursion through the Grand Canyon. Other favourites include the Music Cities, Route 66 and an amazing Southern States tour opportunity. Anyone who has done a rail trip to Alaska says it’s a bucket-list must! Europe leads the world in terms of travel by rail opportunities. You will be in awe of the efficiency. Asian train travel ranks a worthy second place to Europe. Service and speed extraordinaire! If a trip to India is on your mind, you must travel by train in order to see the diverse landscape. It’s a tremendous opportunity to learn and enrich your life. Q. A:
How do I choose the right window coverings for my home?
Whether the sun is damaging y your new floors, the neighbors can see e everything you do, or the glare on your T is interfering with your favorite T.V. p program, window coverings can serve many different functions while greatly enhancing the appeal of your home’s decor. Window coverings come in all types of colors, textures and materials to fit many sizes and shapes of windows. Odd shaped windows such as circles, arches, and angles can also be fitted appropriately. When there is such an extensive variety of window coverings, how does one know which style is going to be best suited for them? There are many things to consider, such as: privacy, light control, energy efficiency, maintenance and achieving a desired look. In a bedroom you may want the room to be very dark and private while in the family room you may want sufficient sunshine while still protecting your furniture. Some rooms’ views are too fantastic to block out and yet too hot or drafty to enjoy. These are just a few of the problems you may run into, and custom blinds can solve virtually any type of window dilemma. Working with a professional windowcovering expert can certainly make the process easier. A professional has the experience required to choose a covering that is both functional and attractive. See your local expert, Dion Currie at Wideman Paint and Décor about selecting and installing the window coverings that are right for you. Answer provided by:

Q. A:
What mistakes do people make when buying their first hot tub?
• They buy on impulse! Often from smooth-talking or high- pressured salespeople at temporary lot sales or trade fairs. The price might be good but parts later become a problem or are completely unavailable. • They buy a foreign tub which can’t handle our climate extremes. We see this far too frequently. Pumps fail, insulation isn’t adequate. Parts aren’t available soon enough to save a tub when it breaks down during extreme winter weather. • They buy a tub that isn’t the right size for their needs. We encourage people to buy a tub that is sized-right for 90% of their usage. Don’t buy a 12 person tub because kids come home at Easter or Christmas. Buy the tub that you will enjoy often. Operating and maintenance costs will reflect usage. • They buy from a dealer without researching their history or reputation. Big mistake! We wish you could hear some of the stories we hear every week! Drop in to R & D Hot Tubs. Or talk to our clients. We believe you will always ways like your shopping experience nce with us! Dorothy Mary Wright February 4, 1930 – July 17, 2015 Mrs. Dorothy Wright, born in Rapid City, MB on February 4, 1930, late of Camrose, formerly of New Norway, passed away on July 17, 2015 at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her loving family: Stanley, her husband of 63 years; children Doug (Mary) of Leduc, Murray (Leigh) of Edmonton, Colleen (Bill) of Ripley, ON and Corinne (Doug) of Edmonton; five grandchildren Jodi, Melissa, Cassandra, Carson and Emma; and two great-grandchildren Aiden and Amy; and one sister Evelyn (Owen Turner) of Gimli, MB. After growing up in Rapid City, she moved to Edmonton to take nurse’s training at the Edmonton General Hospital. She met and married Stan in 1951 and moved to the farm near New Norway shortly after. Not only was she a farm wife who raised the family and took care of a huge garden each summer, but she also worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose for many years – working the night shift after putting the children to bed and getting home in time to send them off to school. Dorothy was a people person and there was always a warm welcome for family, friends and neighbours. Freshly-baked goodies always accompanied a cup of coffee or tea. Her Christmas baking was a special treat, whether it was hand-delivered or came through the mail. When they retired from farming, Stan and Dorothy moved to Camrose where she volunteered for flu and immunization clinics, and at summer camps as the camp nurse. For years, she and Stan volunteered at Big Valley Jamboree. She was also an avid cheerleader for the senior men’s slow-pitch team and curling team while Stan was playing. She enjoyed travelling, whether it was camping in their truckcamper, motorhome or fifth wheel, going east to Prince Edward Island and west to Vancouver Island, cruising through the Panama Canal or touring through the United States, China, Europe and the British Isles. A visit from Mom/Grandma began with a supersized smile and a warm hug. Family Memories: the smell of cinnamon buns that met the children when they came home from school, the summer days spent shelling endless tubs of peas, the pies for dessert, her love of entertaining and feeding whoever showed up around her large kitchen table, her cake-decorating skills, winter Sunday afternoons sitting around the table playing cards and board games, her love of bagpipe music, her sewing skills which produced matching outfits, her cross-stitched handwork, and mostly, her love for her family are treasured. A sincere thank you is extended to St. Mary’s Hospital Unit 2 and Unit 5 and Daysland Health Centre Orthopedic and Active Rehabilitation Unit doctors, nurses and staffs for the compassionate, professional care Dorothy received. At Dorothy’s request, no funeral was held. An inurnment at Highland Park Cemetery, near New Norway, was held on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Donations are gratefully accepted and may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one’s choice. To send condolences, please visit www.burgarfuneralhome.com.

The bond Plan Now For Their Future Needs between You’ve worked your entire life to build your assets. grandparents Sound estate planning can ensure these hard-earned and grandkids assets are passed on to
What used to be the “golden years” of life for seniors is now turning into any opportunity to spend even more time with their youngest family members. Nowadays, a growing number of grandparents are called on to provide child care for their grandkids, many of whom are growing up in two-income households. Others are helping to raise grandkids while providing financial assistance for adult children who may not be able to live on their own. Grandparents often cite helping their own children financially as well as staying in touch with grandchildren as motivating factors behind providing care. Staying in touch with grandkids can give seniors a feeling of self-worth and improve their overall health. When spending so much time together, grandparents may develop special relationships with their grandchildren, who may benefit from the knowledge and wisdom offered by their elders. The following are some lessons grandparents can share with youngsters. Empathy: by sharing stories of how things were when they were younger, when opportunities may have been more scarce, grandparents can help teach grandchildren empathy. Grandchildren may learn to be grateful for the things they have and the people around them, rather than taking what they have for granted. Family history: grandparents can tell grandchildren about family members, including youngsters’ own parents, and shed light on the generations that came before them. Looking through photos or watching old movies can provide the avenue by which to start conversations about family history and give children opportunities to ask questions. Interests: children may be excited about learning new skills or hobbies taught to them by their grandparents. Anything from gardening to woodworking can be shared. Respect: children who grow up respecting their grandparents may have an increased tendency to respect authority figures outside their homes, which may help kids grow up to be more courteous and kind. Grandchildren also offer benefits to their grandparents. Companionship, new experiences and conversation can help keep grandparents’ minds sharp and bodies active well into their golden years.

How to avoid boredom in retirement From the moment young men and women first walk into the office for their first day as a working professional until the day they officially retire, the notion of planning for retirement is never far from their minds. But when the day to hang up the briefcase and donate all those business suits arrives, some retirees wonder what to do next. Some retirees know exactly how they will spend their days when they no longer have to work, while others who decide to play it by ear may find themselves battling boredom. For those among the latter group, it’s important to understand that many retirees find themselves bored once they no longer have to focus on a career. Jobs keep men and women busy and provide a sense of purpose in their lives, so it’s understandable that retirees feel bored once those jobs are no longer a part of their lives. But just because you no longer have an office to go to every day does not mean life cannot be as fulfilling or even more fulfilling than it was when you were still working. You just need to find something to avoid succumbing to retirement boredom. Work part-time. Though it might seem odd to start working right after you retire, a part-time job can provide the type of structure you have grown accustomed to without all of the responsibility that comes with a fulltime career. Part-time jobs can range from consultancy work that makes use of your professional experience to something entirely different like landscape maintenance at a nearby golf course that gets you out of the house and enjoying the warmer seasons. Whichever you choose,
make sure it’s something you find fun and interesting. Embrace a new hobby. Working professionals often say they wish they had time to pursue a hobby. Now that you are retired, you have all the time in the world to do just that. Whether it’s perfecting your golf game, writing that novel, learning to cook like a gourmet chef or whatever else you might have always wanted to do, retirement is a great time to do it. Get in shape. If retirement boredom has started to negatively affect your mood, one great way to conquer your boredom and improve your mood at the same time is to start exercising. Exercise is a natural mood enhancer. When the body exercises, it releases chemicals known as endorphins, which trigger positive feelings in the body. In addition, regular exercise has been shown to reduce stress, boost selfesteem and improve sleep. Working out at a gym also is a great way to meet fellow retirees in your community, and the energy you have after exercising may give you the boost you need to pursue other hobbies. Volunteer. If a parttime job is not up your alley, then consider volunteering in your community. Volunteers are always in demand, and volunteering with a local charity can provide a sense of purpose and provide opportunities to meet like-minded fellow retirees, all while helping to quell your boredom. Retirees who love to travel can combine their passion for volunteering with their love of travel by signing up to work with an international relief organization that travels abroad to help the less fortunate.

Axemen split doubleheader By Murray Green
The Camrose Axemen split two games against the Westlock Red Lions on July 19 to inch closer to securing a playoff spot in the North Central Alberta Baseball League. Camrose came from behind to win 8-7 in the first game and lost 3-1 in a close low scoring second contest. Westlock scored three runs in the first inning, but the Axemen fought back with five in the third to take the lead in the first game. The Red Lions tied the contest in the fourth before Camrose scored one in the bottom of the inning and two more in the fifth. Chance Wheatley, Blair Mulder, Dylan Borman and Kris Johnson all had two hits in the game. On the mound, Mulder didn’t have one of his better games. He pitched well enough to win and Kyle Muzechka came in relief to pick up the save. In the second game of the doubleheader, Camrose scored first, but Westlock added single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to record the victory. Borman, Ryan Petryshyn and Joe Pasychnyk provided the hits for Camrose. Borman took the loss despite only giving up four hits and two walks, while striking out four batters. Muzechka tossed the last two innings in relief. The Axemen lead the league with an 11-4 record.

The Edmonton Blackhawks at 8-4, Stony Plain Mets at 10-5 and Westlock Red Lions at 10-6 currently hold the other playoff spots. Several Axemen played in the annual all-star game on July 21. The Amyotte Allstars were managed by Bryan Toles of the local squad in St. Albert. Beverly Optimist Club
won 6-2 over the Amyotte All-stars. Beverly was represented by players from the Westlock Red Lions, Stony plain Mets, Edmonton Indians, Sherwood Park Athletics and St. Albert Cardinals. The Amyotte All-stars had players from the Camrose Axemen, Edmonton Blackhawks, Edmonton Athlet-
ics, Sturgeon Paladins and Barrhead Orioles. Camrose travels to Edmonton to play the Blackhawks on July 28 and then faces the Sherwood Park Athletics on Aug. 4. The final home game is slated for Aug. 12 against the Stony Plain Mets at 7 p.m. at Harry Andreassen Field in Kin Park.

During the renovations of The Bailey Theatre, additional unanticipated costs arose for excavating and finishing the basement under the auditorium, as well as all the special theatre equipment. Unforeseen challenges in projects of this magnitude often result in additional construction costs. The consultants recommended that making revisions during the construction phase would be more cost effective and feasible than trying to do them later. The total additional cost was just over $2,000,000. The federal government was able to provide close to half of that amount, which The Bailey was required to match. The City of Camrose generously provided an additional $500,000. That left the remainder of $600,000 in the form of a loan, in order to acquire the additional federal matching funds. A year after the historic Bailey re-opened, that loan was converted to a mortgage. The provincial government provided a grant for $75,000 to apply to the mortgage. Since then, mortgage payments have totaled more than $40,000 a year. The Bailey would benefit from paying off the mortgage, so that money can then go into operations and continue to provide the great programming you have enjoyed at The Bailey. In September 2014, the Bailey Theatre Society launched a Burn the Mortgage campaign to pay off the roughly $500,000 outstanding at that time. Since then, your generous donations and pledges of $1,000 to $50,000 towards the campaign have brought the mortgage down to about $390,000. It is important to note that every donation designated for this campaign will be applied directly to the principal and will not be used for interest payments. Our other fundraising efforts are focused on raising funds for operations, staffing and utility costs. It is important for The Bailey Theatre that the Burn the Mortgage Campaign is successful in eliminating the mortgage.

Your donations make a big difference to The Bailey. You can make a donation by cheque or credit/debit card. You will receive a charitable tax receipt for your generous donation. If you prefer, you can also pledge an amount to be paid when we reach our final goal (including pledges). All contributions will be acknowledged on a special Donor Board in the lobby of the Theatre. One final note: You can make a donation by credit card online through ATB Cares. This is a special offer by Alberta Treasury Branches to add 15% (up to a maximum of $1,000) to donations made to designated charities (The Bailey Theatre Society is registered with them). For example, if you choose to donate $5,000 through this site, The Bailey will receive $5,750. You will receive a charitable tax receipt from Benevity, the organization that has set this up for ATB. When you make your donation, you will have the opportunity to designate how you would like the donation used (Burn the Mortgage, Legacy Fund or Operations). As well, this donation method will allow you to remain anonymous if you wish. If you would like to see the oldest performing arts theatre in Alberta succeed in striking the mortgage off the books, contact The Bailey today at 780-672-5510. We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who have already contributed to this campaign and, with your generous help, look forward to success with the campaign. Cindy and Patti SUNDAY BRUNCH REPLACED BY NEW MENU
Worsham born to play on big stage Charlie Worsham will be performing on the Big Valley Jamboree main stage at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1. See Charlie Worsham on a stage and you immediately understand what he understood from the beginning: it’s where he’s meant to be. For him, music wasn’t just a thing, it was the only thing. “I kind of feel like I didn’t have much choice,” he said. “The songs, the playing, those were the only things that ever really kept my attention.” As a ridiculously talented multi-instrumentalist and student of great songs, he’s developed a unique modern country sound built around the traditional acoustic instruments he grew up on. Starting in his hometown of Grenada, Mississippi, Charlie was always out playing somewhere. From the Opry at age twelve to the local Missionary Baptist Church to the back-road blues joints he wasn’t even supposed to know about – much less play in. Wherever he found a stage, he played. And when he wasn’t playing, he was listening to everything from Don Williams to Tom Petty to Earl Scruggs. With his energy and showmanship on stage and his understated Mississippi “yes sir” and “no ma’am” offstage, it’s easy to understand why so many in Nashville’s music community are rooting for him. After studying at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Worsham moved South to Nashville. For the last two years, he’s divided his time between writing songs, being an in-demand studio musician for other artists and playing his music live – sharing stages across the country with Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and others.

The Battle River Community Foundation awarded a grant of $450 to the Camrose Arts Society to assist with the operations of About Time Productions. The grant was awarded from income earned by the Hugh and Betty Irving Fund, a donor advised fund. Donor advised funds permit donors to recommend projects to the Foundation board for funding. The Battle River Community Foundation exists to support projects in East Central Alberta which benefit communities and have a positive impact on the future. Grants from the Battle River Community Foundation are primarily made possible through the generosity of individual donors and organizations who have created endowment funds. The principal of these endowment funds is kept intact and the income is made available annually to support local projects and organizations in accordance with the wishes of the donors. Jeep Grand Cherokee Redefining the premium SUV
Cole Royer
By Dan Jensen
The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee at Camrose Chrysler delivers best-in-class fuel efficiency, a choice of leading powertrain options, legendary benchmark capability, world-class craftsmanship, premium on-road driving dynamics, and a host of advanced user-friendly technology and safety features. “The industry’s most highly acclaimed SUV has been elevated to an even higher level,” said Camrose Chrysler sales manager Lincoln Manzevich. “Our customers will clearly find the new Jeep Grand Cherokee to be even more of a pleasure to drive – on any and all roads, on the most demanding trails, and in all weather conditions. Jeep Grand Cherokee’s 3.0 litre EcoDiesel V-6 engine produces 240 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque while using just 8.4 litres of gas per 100 km on the highway. A model of modern engineering, with a block made of compacted graphite iron and aluminum twin-cam heads, the engine delivers quiet, clean-diesel technology with low carbon emissions. Grand Cherokee’s 3.6 litre Pentastar VVT V-6 uses just 9.8 litres per 100 km on the highway due to a full-optimizer Eco Mode function, which constantly
works to lower your idle speed. The Multiview Display in the instrument cluster can inform you of just how efficiently Eco Mode is performing every kilometre along the way. The 3.6 litre Pentastar V-6 generates 290 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Structural, intake and exhaust areas are designed to deliver low levels of overall noise and achieve specific sound quality goals that meet discerning customer requirements. The 5.7 litre VVT V-8 produces 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque, and boasts a towing capacity of 7,200 lbs. VVT technology improves fuel economy in two ways: first it reduces the engine’s pumping work by closing the intake valve later. Second, it increases the expansion process of the combustion event. This allows more work to be transferred to the crankshaft instead of being rejected out of the exhaust port as heat. VVT improves engine breathing, which further improves engine efficiency and power. Multi-Displacement System technology revamps the 5.7 litre engine into a fourcylinder model of efficiency when cruising, yet when you step on the gas pedal, all eight cylinders are seamlessly at your disposal. All three Jeep Grand
Cherokee engines are now attached to Chrysler Group’s new eight-speed automatic transmission, which provides better fuel economy, quicker acceleration and smoother shifting. The system’s precise design and shift schedule can implement a gear change in 200 milliseconds, resulting in ride quality that rivals that of the most luxurious sedans. There’s excitement as well, by engaging the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters when you want to customize your shift schedule. The 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee features three available 4x4 systems. Quadra-Drive II gets you through virtually any driving situation. An electronic Limited-Slip Differential can transfer up to 100 per cent of torque to the wheel(s) with the most traction. Quadra Trac II offers all-speed traction control to keep you on course. If wheel slippage occurs, up to 100 per cent of the available torque can be routed to the axle with the most traction. Low range provides rock crawling prowess. Quadra Trac I is fully automatic. No driver interaction is required. A singlespeed transfer case offers a continual balance of torque distribution; if wheel slippage occurs, the system seamlessly transfers torque to the axle with the most
traction. Quadra-Lift delivers best-in-class ground clearance and control of your suspension. The 95 mm lift span allows you to easily raise your vehicle to achieve a maximum clearance of 275 mm above ridges and rocks, or lower it for easier entry, exit and loading. Grand Cherokee’s classleading Selec-Terrain traction control system allows customers to choose the on- and off-road settings for optimum performance. This feature electronically coordinates up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems, including throttle control, transmission shift, transfer case, Hill-descent Control, and Selec-Speed Control. Jeep Grand Cherokee’s cabin takes plush seating to new heights with available premium leather trim in designer colour palettes. In this interior landscape you will enjoy brushed copper or silver accents, luxurious real wood details, 5- or 8.4-inch multimedia centres and a full-colour 7-inch customizable incluster display centre. The available CommandView Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof with a power sunshade and fixed-glass window in the rear gives you a bigger view of the world. The available suede-like
headliner is another modern luxury on the very long list of upscale amenities designed to pamper, impress and keep you informed like never before. Dual-zone automatic temperature control constantly adjusts the temperature inside the cabin to create a customized environment. Heated and ventilated front seats add quick warmth on cool days and welcome relief when temperatures rise via a small fan that gently circulates cool air thanks to perforations within the seat coverings. The available power liftgate adds graceful accessibility to Grand Cherokee’s rear cargo area. Two available nine-inch high resolution screens are integrated into the front seatbacks to entertain rear-seat passengers. The award-winning Uconnect system is unparalleled in keeping you connected, entertained and informed. Uconnect works with straightforward voice commands, intuitive controls and simple connectivity. You can drive the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee by visiting Camrose Chrysler on Highway 13 East, Camrose. Phone 780-672-2476 and ask for one of the friendly sales professionals.

Vintage Finds and Summer Wines adds to Victim Services coffers By Dan Jensen
Camrose and District Victim Services, Harley’s Liquor Store and Camrose Regional Exhibition couldn’t have been more pleased with the turnout for the 10th annual Vintage Finds and Summer Wines event at the CRE. “We had nearly 500 people in attendance, which in my view made it the best event ever,” said Camrose and District Victim Services president Dan Hertel before accepting a cheque for $1,000 from Vintage Finds and Summer Wines sponsor Harley’s Liquor Store. “I think it was a very enjoyable evening for everyone.” Vintage Finds and Summer Vines is an opportunity to sample a wide variety of wines and other spirits, as well as bid on a number of unique auction items. The amount it has raised for Camrose and District Victim Services over the last 10 years exceeds $140,000. “We raised $20,290.18 this year,” said Camrose and District Victim Services program director Michelle Hauser. “The number would have been higher except for the fact we had some unforeseen expenses.” Harley’s Liquor Store manager Colin Yuha said
Camrose and District Victim Services chair Dan Hertel, left, accepts a cheque for $1,000 from Harley’s Liquor Store owner Trevor Carlson and administrator Carmen Sharkey. Harley’s Liquor Store was a major sponsor of the Vintage Finds and Summer Wines fundraiser at the Camrose Regional Exhibition in June.
the event is a blast to put on. “It is something that is truly unique to the community.” Harley’s Liquor Store owner Trevor Carlson said the Vintage Finds and Summer Wines event is a way to give back to the community and support an incredible cause. “Victim Services gives
immediate benefits to those who need it.” Camrose and District Victim Services is often thought of and described as another arm of the police, providing the extra support victims need as they enter the maze that is the justice system. With the mandate of
Support, Inform, Refer, volunteer advocates, who are certified by the Solicitor General of Alberta through specialized training, are on call 24/7, being called to scenes, referring victims to appropriate resources, supporting them in court and everything in between. The volunteer advocates are
mothers, fathers, friends and retirees with jobs, homes and families, who selflessly give up their time and energy to help those who need it most. They attend training, meetings, fundraisers, court, and spend hours upon hours a year on call. Camrose and District Victim Services is also home to Lucy, a service dog trained by Dogs with Wings in Edmonton. Lucy joined the team in April 2013, after receiving specialty training to help ease the effects of trauma that victims of crime and tragedy experience. Lucy attends court, listens to victims, de-stresses individuals, and works closely with advocates in the office and out on calls. Lucy is an integral part of the team and has already healed many hearts in her two years with the unit. In all, Camrose and District Victim Services is responsible for providing services to over 24,000 individuals covering over 3,300 square kms including the city of Camrose, villages of Bittern Lake, Hay Lakes, Bawlf and Rosalind, hamlets of Round Hill, New Norway, Kingman, Armena, Duhamel, Ohaton and Kelsey, and Camrose County farming community around each of these villages and hamlets.
Council and Handivan Society begin dialogue on bus service By Dan Jensen
City council and the Rose City Handivan Society have started meaningful dialogue on how they can work together to provide additional transportation services to the senior residents of Camrose. Handivan Society representatives told Committee of the Whole council July 13 that the society is open to the possibility of providing basic transportation services with a bus/ van purchased by the City for $1 from The Bethany Group. “We would need a separate office, which we would be willing to provide once the City lets us back into the Mirror Lake Centre,” said Handivan Society Iris Baker. “We would need another girl or someone in the office to help us run it, as well as a couple of drivers.” Baker said current Handivan bylaws mean the bus would have to be operated as a separate business. “Our (Handivan) buses are for people who have mental or physical difficulties and are not able to use regular modes of transportation.” Mayor Norm Mayer envisions the new (City owned) bus picking up seniors at Camrose lodges at 10 a.m., taking them to
One of three vans used by the Handivan Society.
their destinations and taking them home again at an agreed upon time after lunch. “Not necessarily a one on one type of situation, but more of a group situation,” said Mayer. “The seniors would be able to get on that unit without worrying about wheelchairs or things of that nature. I think that service is with the Handivan.” Rose City Handivan Society coordinator Dale Debnam feels that while the City bus/van has low mileage and is in pretty good shape, it would not be ideal for Handivan Society purposes.
“The lift is one of the first made,” said Debnam. “It seemed quite stable (when an inspection was done), some rusty areas, but it is a one-piece fold up and is smaller in width and length. It will not accommodate a newer version of scooter and oversize wheelchairs.” Debnam also noted that the tie downs in the van are old style and would require more time to strap down and tighten to secure the wheelchair. Councillor Kevin Hycha questioned the Handivan Society on why a separate entity would be needed for the new bus.
“I understand the differences in the people you pick up, but I don’t know why it would have to be a separate,” he said. “I can probably understand why you would need more help in the way of drivers and dispatchers, but I don’t know why you would have to split it in half.” Handivan Society secretary Jackie Lindberg said issue of having a separate entity has not been presented to the board. Councillor Bill Sears told the society that the City needs a body to oversee the operations of a bus that meets the needs of the seniors living in care facilities. “We need to talk to (the care facilities) and see what their needs are and how we can provide for those needs,” he said. “With (the Handivan Society’s) help we can try to solve the issue that we have.” Sears’ comments were echoed by councillor Max Lindstrand, who noted that the residents of the lodges are having trouble getting around since The Bethany Group dropped its transportation service. “I received, as chair of the lodge authority, a petition from 60 or 70 residents wondering if we could do something to help them,” said Lindstrand. The Rose City Handi-
van Society operates three buses Monday to Friday which service the clients of the Centra Cam Vocational Training Association, the Camrose Association for Community Living and Crossroads Day program (both morning and afternoon), as well as those who have standing appointments twice a week for baths, shopping and hair appointments. The buses also serve 30 to 40 special needs children ranging from pre-school to the completion of high school. The cost of a single ride is $7, with $3 of that being subsidized by the City. The Handivan Society is in the process of surveying riders to gather information that could be used, if needed, to restructure the organization. As well as asking riders to rate the service they have received, it is inviting feedback on when they would require service if the Handivan hours were expanded. “The big thing is the times they require services and the locations they want to go,” said Lindberg. Councillor Agnes Lindstrand suggested that the Handivan Society and the City resume discussions in September when the society has compiled the survey results.

Helpful Tips for Writing Classified Ads Which Get Results! Be Thorough
Sure you want your ad to stand out from the rest, but don’t skimp on the sort of information that sells. The item’s condition, size, age, brand name, and color are some of the basics readers want to know. Without them, your ad may be overlooked.
Steer Clear of Abbreviations
Okay, so you want to include all the important basics. Don’t use strange abbreviations because our ads are designed to spell all the important details. Besides, you are not paying by the line, but by the word, so there is really no need to abbreviate.
Be Honest
Exaggerating your item’s finer points may bring in a lot of responses, but a buyer who’s misled won’t appreciate it and will take his business somewhere else.
State Your Price
The cost of an item is one of the most important concerns of want ad readers. Ads showing prices are ones which get results. Giving a price also serves to “weed out” those buyers not in your price range.
Be Accessible
Including a telephone number or address puts you in touch with potential buyers. Be sure to state the hours you can be reached: a caller who can’t get through the first time often won’t call again.
Don’t hesitate to call us with any questions or problems you may have regarding advertising. Our professionally trained sales staff know the ropes, and would be happy to pass their know-how on to you. That’s why we’re here, to help you get the results you deserve.

Hay Lakes hit with rash of break-ins July 13
A concerned resident in the area of Township Road 450 and Range Road 192 called to report a suspicious vehicle that had been seen driving into yards and passing slowly past properties. The vehicle is described as a light brown, 2000-08 four door extended cab Chev or GMC truck with two male occupants. RCMP patrolled the area but the vehicle was not located. July 14 RCMP received a call from a resident in the area of Township Road 480 and Range Road 200 to report a dark red heifer with a white face that had been found with no brand or tag. Local farmers in the area have been contacted, but there has been no success in finding the owner. July 17 RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 13 at Range Road 205. All parties were attended to by EMS. No serious injuries were sustained. This matter is still under investigation. July 18 A RCMP member was called to Miquelon Park by Alberta Parks as there was a report of a child and an adult being bitten by a dog. Police are in the process of speaking to all parties involved. July 19 During the early morning hours of July 19, a suspect entered various vehicles and garages in the McKernan Court area of Hay Lakes. Police remind residents of Camrose County to lock up vehicles, remove valuables and to remove garage door openers from their vehicles. A property owner called to report that in the area of Township 452 and Range Road 184 he found his fence line down due to posts being broken by a vehicle and parts scattered in the area. Police collected the parts and determined that they belong to a 2002 to 2005 Ram 1500 short box. This matter is still under investigation. RCMP also responded to three false alarms, one 911 hang up, five dangerous driving complaints and three animal related collisions. Lost: seven red heifers with pink tags in the area of Township Road 462 and Range Road 173. Call Camrose RCMP at 780672-3342 should you have any information as to the possible whereabouts of the cattle.

If you love to golf, then this quality custom built two-storey in Victoria Park is the perfect place to call home. Imagine your own piece of paradise with a view of the golf course and a great floor plan. Add to that a great location close to shopping amenities, a grand staircase, vaulted ceilings, custom oak cabinets and skylights. Large bright windows allow the sun to flood the dining and living room area with plenty of light. The casual dining area overlooks the sunken living room which features a gas fireplace. The kitchen has been upgraded with new granite counters, appealing backsplash and modern appliances. The main level is finished with a handy den, laundry room and access to the large front double garage and RV parking pad. Head upstairs to the beautiful master
bedroom that offers a fantastic hot tub for relaxing and a walk-in closet. Two more good sized bedrooms and a bathroom complete the floor plan. The partially developed basement with in-floor heating contains a huge family room, an additional bedroom and storage space. The only thing left to complete is a bathroom. Included with the purchase are the built-in dishwasher, stove, fridge, washer, dryer, microwave, central vacuum with attachments, window coverings, shed and garage door opener with two controls. Be sure to view this fantastic home at 6621-53 Avenue. It is priced to sell at $495,500. An open house will be held on Saturday, Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a personal tour contact Lyndsey Delwo at: Central Agencies Inc.
