THE REMEDY REPORT Nourishment for the Body and Soul
Wellness Begins From the Inside featuring Rosalee Davis
Rosalee Davis came to Camp Southern Ground in February to participate in Warrior Week. After leaving camp, she wrote a Facebook post that caught my attention; her post began with the phrase, “Wellness begins from the inside.” I got to talk with Rosalee to learn more about what that phrase means to her. Q: What does wellness mean to you? Wellness means to me, having and pursuing an overall state of health and well-being. This being all areas of life: spirituality, creativity, finances, career, education, health, physical activity, home cooking, home environment, relationships, social life, and joy. Our wellness begins from the inside – mental and physical. When we take care of ourselves from the inside, we are then balancing our physical health and our mental health to benefit us in all other areas of our lives. Q: Was the Remedy Kitchen a part of your wellness journey? Remedy kitchen was a part of my wellness journey in the sense that it provided delicious, healthy foods (nurture and nutrition from the inside). It also accommodated for people's allergies and sensitivities, which shows a great sense of compassion and love for what you guys do. Q: Why is wellness important for veterans?
WHAT'S INSIDE: Intro: 1 Warrior Wellness: 2 Chef Chris: 3 Gluten Free Baking: 4 Recipes: 5-6
The reason why wellness is so important to me as a veteran is because we resort to so many bad habits in the service to cope with trauma. It is very common for veterans to bring those habits with them outside of service. They never really learn how to transition their coping habits when they transition out of service. We have to teach establish wellness with our veterans so they can acquire healthier habits toward a healthier lifestyle so that they can make healthier transitions, learning how to improve and strengthen all of their areas of life, such as: spirituality, creativity, finances, career, education, health, physical activity, home cooking, home environment, relationships, social life, and joy so they can succeed outside of service. *Check out our social media this month to see what Rosalee does to promote her wellness!
