Camberwell Traders Association Update As we welcome Spring, there's a renewed sense of momentum across Camberwell Junction. Warmer weather, longer days, and a calendar of exciting precinct activations provide a fantastic opportunity for businesses to connect with customers as we head towards the busy end-of-year trading period. While cost-of-living pressures continue to influence consumer spending, Australians are still choosing to spend on quality experiences and destinations that offer something unique. Camberwell Junction remains well positioned, with recent Commonwealth Bank iQ data demonstrating continued strong customer spending across the precinct and the appeal of our diverse mix of retail, dining, professional services and community experiences. When businesses promote the precinct together, everyone benefits. Every trader who participates in campaigns, shares content or gets involved in precinct initiatives helps extend the reach of Camberwell Junction beyond our own marketing channels. This collective effort attracts new visitors, encourages repeat visitation and strengthens our reputation as one of Melbourne's premier shopping destinations.
Our Camberwell Culinary Awards are already generating fantastic engagement, with voting continuing until the end of September. Thanks to every participating business for helping showcase the outstanding dining experiences our precinct has to offer. We encourage everyone to keep promoting the campaign throughout September. Looking ahead, preparations are now underway for one of our biggest annual events. Halloween has become a much-loved tradition in Camberwell Junction, attracting thousands of families each year. Promotional activity launches this month ahead of our Trick or Treat event on Saturday, October 31. Participating traders should keep an eye on their inbox for this year's Halloween trader pack, and start planning how your business can make the most of this fun community day. As always, thank you for your continued support in making Camberwell Junction one of Melbourne's most vibrant and welcoming shopping destinations. Regards, Camberwell Centre Association Committee
Marketing snapshot The 2026 Camberwell Culinary Awards returned over winter to celebrate the outstanding dining experiences across the precinct. Building on last year's record-breaking campaign, customers were invited to vote for their favourite hospitality businesses across eight categories by uploading a valid receipt for their chance to win a $500 Camberwell Junction shopping voucher. The campaign continues to drive customer engagement, encourage repeat visitation and introduce diners to new local favourites. Voting concludes at the end of September, with winners to be announced across our digital channels next quarter. Our Father's Day campaign rolled out across editorial content, social media and digital channels, showcasing local retailers, hospitality venues and gift ideas to inspire shoppers to support local in the lead-up to Father's Day. Alongside our annual Father's Day gift guide, we also celebrated the dads behind some of Camberwell Junction's businesses, sharing their stories of fatherhood, proudest moments and the important role they play both at home and within our local business community. Throughout winter, we continued promoting Camberwell Junction through seasonal campaigns, trader features and lifestyle content designed to
inspire visitation across a broad range of retail categories via our social media and monthly community email newsletters. One standout piece, A Walk Through History, celebrated the precinct's rich heritage and acknowledged some of our long-standing businesses. It became one of our highest-performing social media posts of the year, demonstrating the strong community appetite for authentic stories that showcase what makes Camberwell Junction unique. Planning also progressed for our annual Halloween campaign, with promotional activity commencing in early September ahead of another exciting Trick or Treat event on Saturday, October 31. We look forward to welcoming thousands of families back to the precinct for one of Camberwell Junction's most anticipated community events. Our online marketing activities continue to yield strong results. Here’s a snapshot of Camberwell Junction’s digital audience numbers: • Almost 8,000 email addresses in our subscriber database • More than 185,410 visits to the websites over the past year • More than 8,590 followers on social media.

Halloween returns to Camberwell Junction on Saturday, October 31, with another spooktacular day of family-friendly fun set to transform the precinct. Following last year's hugely successful event, visitors can once again enjoy trick-or-treating, face painting, roaming entertainment and plenty of Halloween surprises. This year's competition introduces a brandnew way to explore Camberwell Junction. Twenty participating storefronts will feature custom-painted Halloween window artwork, each hiding a unique image. Families will be invited to hunt for every hidden picture, then submit the name of the store where each image was found via our online entry form for their chance to win a prize valued at $200. Participating traders will receive a Halloween trader pack with promotional assets and everything needed to get involved. Keep an eye on your inbox for more details and start planning your spooky displays and costumes!
Helping to keep Camberwell Junction safe Creating a safer business community is a shared responsibility. That's why we're encouraging traders to explore the Safer Places Network — an Australianowned community safety platform designed to help local businesses quickly share information about incidents such as theft, aggression and suspicious behaviour. Using a simple app, participating businesses can report incidents, register their CCTV cameras and alert nearby traders in real time, helping build a shared intelligence network that supports both local businesses and Victoria Police investigations. Founded by former Victoria Police detective David Bartlett, the platform is privacy-first, opt-in and available from $10 per month. You'll also have the opportunity to meet David Bartlett at the October Business Club lunch.
