ALEGACY onthewater onthewater
Our story begins in 1922 Founded by LAAC members, the California Yacht Club quickly became a premier West Coast sailing hub, where tradition, camaraderie, and a love for the sea set sail together.
Inthe1900s
1940s - During World War II, the U.S. military took over the clubhouse, and afterward the LAAC abandoned it, leaving the Club’s future uncertain.
1960s - Charles Hathaway and original members revived CYC, securing space during Marina del Rey’s development and opening the Basin E clubhouse in 1967.
Today
More than a century later, CYC remains a globally recognized, multigenerational club rooted in tradition.
