As we embark on the 2024-2025 athletic season, I am filled with pride and excitement to welcome you to another year of excellence at Calhoun Community College. Our student-athletes continue to inspire us with their dedication, not only in their chosen sports but also in their academic pursuits. Their drive to succeed is the perfect example of what we call the “Warhawk Way.”
This year, we celebrate the continued growth and success of our athletics program. We warmly welcome our new Athletic Director, A.J. Daugherty, to the Hawks’ Nest, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to our former Athletic Director, Dr. Nancy Keenum as she transitions full-time to the classroom in our Health Sciences division. Thank you Dr. Keenum for more than forty years of dedicated service in Athletics. All of our coaches and student-athletes have worked tirelessly, investing countless hours in practice and competition. Their efforts have set a new standard of excellence for our programs. At Calhoun, we remain steadfast in our commitment to upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship, academic achievement, and community involvement.
As we compete this season, we do so with unity, pride, and a deep respect for our college and community. I want to extend my sincere gratitude to all the individuals, businesses, industries, churches, and organizations whose generous support has made this Athletics Media Guide possible. Your unwavering support of Calhoun Community College is a testament to the power of partnership and shared commitment to the future success of our student-athletes.
Here’s to a successful and memorable 2024-2025 season. GO WARHAWKS!
It is with great excitement and anticipation that I step into my new role as Vice President of Student Services at Calhoun Community College. I am truly honored to join this exceptional institution and look forward to being part of the remarkable legacy of success that has long defined Calhoun and the outstanding Athletics Department.
My journey to Calhoun has been shaped by invaluable experiences at three other Alabama community colleges: Gadsden State, Jefferson State, and most recently, Enterprise State Community College, where I served as Dean of Students. These opportunities have given me a broad perspective on the unique challenges and opportunities facing today’s students, and I’m eager to bring that knowledge and passion to Calhoun. I believe that student success extends beyond the classroom, and I am fully committed to fostering an environment where our students and athletes can thrive in all aspects of their lives. I look forward to working with the dedicated faculty, staff, and coaches here at Calhoun to ensure that every student receives the support and encouragement they need to achieve their goals.
KASSIE MATHIS VICE PRESIDENT, STUDENT SERVICES
In the coming years, I hope to build lasting relationships with our students, alumni, and community partners, working together to uphold the tradition of excellence that has made Calhoun Community College a leader in higher education. Together, we will continue to nurture a campus culture that empowers our students to become the leaders of tomorrow.
