Welcome from the Headmaster

It is a genuine delight to welcome you back to Caldicott for this year’s International Rugby 10s festival. Each edition of this tournament seems to gather greater momentum and it is immensely gratifying to see how it has grown into a fixture that so many schools now look forward to in their rugby calendars.

One of the most rewarding aspects of hosting this competition has been watching its lasting impact. Boys who first ran out onto our pitches in the early years of the Caldicott 10s are now leading their senior school sides, captaining XVs, and representing their regions with distinction. It is particularly pleasing to note how many former participants have gone on to feature prominently in county and national age-group competitions which is proof that opportunities such as today’s truly do help shape future pathways in the game.

Events of this scale rely on the goodwill and dedication of many people. My sincere thanks go to our sponsors for their continued generosity and to the staff, grounds team, medical cover, referees and visiting coaches whose commitment ensures that the day runs both smoothly and in the right spirit. Above all, we are proud to provide a stage on which young players can test themselves, build friendships and embrace the camaraderie that lies at the heart of rugby.

May the day be played in a spirit of ambition, respect, and enjoyment. We wish every team the very best.

The importance of teamwork cannot be overstated.

12/02/2026 09:29

At Stowe, we come together with a shared purpose, living and learning side by side.

Sport strengthens this spirit - teaching pupils to trust, lead and achieve together. There’s a team for everyone. Stowe ensures every pupil experiences the power of teamwork in action.

Welcome from the Head of Rugby

I am excited that the Caldicott National Schools 10s returns for its fifth year and once again is bigger than ever. With so many top-class teams from around the country still travelling down for what is now a reduced one-day Rosslyn Park experience at Prep School level, and given our proximity to that event we still consider it a great opportunity to continue the National Schools 10s for those U13 boys, many of whom will be playing their last ever rugby fixtures for their schools this weekend before they head off to Senior Schools at the end of the Summer Term.

Like any event, the work that goes on behind the scenes to get everything in place is vast and a huge thanks must go to all the Caldicott staff involved today but in particular, Matt Hutchings our Director of Sport who pulls the strings in the background, Robin Vickers our Bursar who ensures all the cogs we need to make this work were once again put in place, and Jeremy Banks our Headmaster who continues to show unwavering support to the rugby programme here at Caldicott.

The vision for the Festival is for it to grow and improve year on year and with it growing from 12 teams at its inception to 16 last year and now to a 20-team format this year for the first time with such a wide expanse of teams, it promises to be the best one yet. All of the teams bar three from last year, many of whom are now old friends return, some new ones enter the fold, and alongside those travelling the length and breadth of England to be here the international flavour expands once again past the sides from Scotland, Wales, Dubai, Kenya & France who competed last year to include a side from Italy this year. Given this is my last Festival at the helm of Caldicott rugby I’m particularly excited by this year’s Festival and I will make sure I savour the experience, making the most of seeing the high quality rugby on offer as the boys enjoy their rugby on Caldicott fields while making some new connections, continuing to develop them with schools that are just too far away to realistically play on a regular basis, and reconfirming friendships with those closer to home. I hope you will all join me in thoroughly enjoying the day watching what will undoubtedly be some excellent competitive U13’s rugby!

Schools Information

Caldicott

Caldicott has a rich rugby history having won the national prep school sevens at Rosslyn Park more times than any prep school, notably winning the titles back-to-back in 2014 and 2015 before the competition followed a waterfall format. Famous sporting alumni in recent times, include Chris Sheasby, Andrew Strauss, Adrian Jarvis, Sam Aspland-Robinson, Greg Fisilau, Riki Ma’asi-White, Kepu Tuipulotu and Mosese Tuliakiono. Our ‘sports for all’ philosophy is key to how the Sports Department runs at Caldicott and enables us to provide our boys with incredible life experiences as they form long-lasting memories with their closest friends. Caldicott teaches lessons to our boys that they take with them off the field: the ability to persevere, work in a team, and tackle challenges with a smile are a few examples of this. We were delighted to be named as the overall winners for sporting achievement at the Independent School of the Year Awards, 2019.

Aviron Bayonnais Schools

Aviron Bayonnais is proud to be the first French team to enter the Caldicott 10s. Strong bonds have been established over several years during the Caldicott pupils' visits on tour to the Basque region to sample its unique delights. It is, therefore, a real honour to bring a touring team to experience a tournament full of international flavour. For many of the boys from Bayonne this will be their first opportunity to play in the UK, and we hope that the French flair will be evident, regardless of the weather conditions.

We are hugely grateful for the lengths to which our hosts have gone to make this a reality, and hope this leads to the involvement of a Bayonne team in the tournament for many years to come.

Many boys have played together since U8s and have built up a strong reputation in the Bayonne tradition of being skilful and competitive on the field and great fun off it. Before departure, the squad will almost certainly seek advice from one of England's greatest players and Bayonne's star centre Manu Tuilagi, who has captivated his new fan base, both young and old, since the start of this season.

Berkhamsted

Rugby at Berkhamsted continues to flourish, supported by a strong fixture programme and our ever growing partnership with Saracens, through which seven of our boys' earned places in the Saracens U18 setup this year. This collaboration has been instrumental in elevating the standard of performance and opportunity available to our pupils.

Recent achievements reflect this momentum, with several pupils signing professional contracts and others gaining age grade caps for England and Scotland. Rugby forms a central part of Berkhamsted’s wider sporting provision, helping pupils develop key qualities such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience. We’re also hugely grateful for the chance to take part in this tournament. It provides fantastic exposure and gives our players the opportunity to face teams we wouldn’t usually encounter on our regular circuit. Experiences like this are invaluable, offering our pupils a chance to challenge themselves, grow, and be part of a brilliant event.

The Bishop's Stortford High School

The Bishop’s Stortford High School (TBSHS) is a state-run secondary school for boys with girls joining in the Sixth Form. The school prides itself on delivering a truly all-round education underpinned by a strong focus on its vast extra-curricular programme and core values, which has seen the school win two national football cups, feature in The Cricketer magazine’s Top 100 Schools five times and participate in several National Cross-Country and Athletics Finals.

TBSHS has always punched above its weight within the rugby circuit, fielding up to twenty teams each week, reaching the final of the U15 Vase last year and the quarter final this year. The rugby relies on an incredible voluntary commitment from the staff, along with support from parents and senior students who assist with coaching younger students – the true embodiment of their ‘black and gold spirit’.

Dame Allan's

Dame Allan's Schools' will be represented at the Caldicott 10s for the first time in 2026. We will make the trip from Newcastle Upon Tyne for the competition and cannot wait to be involved. Our school runs across two different sites, the junior and senior school, both based in Fenham. We accommodate students from 3-18, rugby has been part of Dame Allan's for generations. It's more than just a game here- it's a tradition that brings pupils together and builds confidence and camaraderie. With a strong playing card, our rugby programme has gone from strength to strength in previous years, with our 1st XV having a successful year in the National Vase semi-final currently. We are excited to be adding the Caldicott 10s to our rugby playing schedule at the school.

Dubai College

Dubai College are excited about their return visit to the Caldicott National Schools 10s, which is an excellent addition to our UK tour for the Rosslyn Park 7s. Rugby in the UAE is going from strength to strength and our teams are well-versed in 7s, 10 and 15 a side versions of the game. Travelling to the UK will expose our boys to a higher standard of play and this is the environment in which we believe our squad members will grow and flourish. We sincerely thank Caldicott School for their kind invite and we hope that we are able to showcase the best of our school rugby throughout the tournament.

Emirates Falcons

Formed in 2023 by a dedicated group of parents, the Emirates Falcons were created to give young players access to meaningful rugby opportunities, beginning with the chance to travel and compete at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens. Following the success of those early campaigns and the positive impact on the players, the group expanded into the 15s game, travelling to Italy to compete in the Benetton Tournament. Now in its third year, the Falcons has become a tradition passed from parent to parent, focused on providing outstanding experiences that build confidence, teamwork, resilience, and a love for the game. Above all, the emphasis remains on development, camaraderie, and creating lasting memories on and off the field. The Emirates Falcons are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to continue this journey and are delighted to extend these experiences by attending the Caldicott 10s.

Gispi Rugby

Gispi Rugby Prato was founded in 1984 and for over forty years has been a reference point for youth rugby in Italy. The club was established with a clear mission: to develop athletes, but above all, to develop people. Through rugby, Gispi educates boys, girls and families in the values of respect, discipline, teamwork and community spirit, promoting sport as a tool for growth and inclusion. Our coaching team is composed of qualified educators, many of whom hold degrees in Sport Science, Education and Educational Sciences, reflecting an approach that integrates sporting development with educational growth. Gispi Rugby Prato is a community that, across generations, has supported young people in their journey both on and off the field.

Hailebury

Haileybury has a proud rugby tradition built on ambition, teamwork and resilience. The programme is shaped by former Welsh Grand Slam-winning captain and British & Irish Lion Michael Owen, whose experience at the highest level informs a clear vision for player development and a culture built on character, accountability and leadership.

Rugby is central to school life at Haileybury. We place the pupil at the heart of the experience, providing outstanding coaching, competitive fixtures and opportunities that create lifelong memories. Players are challenged and supported to grow, compete and thrive on and off the field.

Haileybury’s most famous rugby son is Jamie George, former England captain and British & Irish Lion, alongside several other former pupils now playing professional rugby, reflecting the strength and ambition of the Haileybury pathway.

Haverfordwest High

Haverfordwest High is a Comprehensive School set in the scenic county of Pembrokeshire in West Wales. The school was established in 2018 after the merger of Tasker Milward VC and Sir Thomas Picton Schools. Rugby is a strong tradition in the School and we are very proud of Rob Evans and Sam Parry who have gone on to become recent Welsh Internationals. Teams are put out at every year group from the ages of 11-18. We are very excited to attend the Caldicott 10’s and look forward to playing some running rugby.

IAPS Kenya

The IAPS Kenya Rugby is a representative side made up of boys selected from the 10 Prep Schools that make up IAPS Kenya. The team has been running for a number of years, traditionally as a 7s side, and each year we tour the UK in March, taking part in Rosslyn Park 7s. We are delighted to be extending our tour again, staying on for a number of days in order to play at the Caldicott National Schools 10s.

King Edward's, Bath

King Edward’s School, Bath boasts a proud rugby heritage, fielding up to 16 teams from U12 to 1st XV during a highly competitive Autumn Term programme. In the Spring, attention turns to 7s and the prestigious Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s, where KES claimed the U18 Vase title in 2025, while the school’s pathway is reflected in the success of Old Edwardian and recent England international Max Ojomoh. KES also maintains a rich tradition in Tens rugby, competing at the renowned Sedbergh 10s since its inception and embracing the opportunity to introduce younger players to the format through the Caldicott 10s, offering an exciting first step on their Tens journey.

Lambrook

Rugby has been played at Lambrook since the school’s foundation in 1860 and continues to go from strength to strength. It is very much a part of the school’s sporting calendar, with pupils from Years 2 to 8, taking part in Games sessions and competitive fixtures.

We are proud of Lambrook’s reputation on the sporting circuit, not just in the competitive results attained but also in how the game is played by our pupils; we are keen to celebrate success on every level and encourage our children to recognise that behaviour, attitude and sportsmanship are incredibly important attributes to have. The skills gained from rugby are invaluable both on and off the field. For this team, the season started with the IAPS festival at Summer Fields. Alongside regular fixtures, they then enjoyed a Friday Night Lights game against Maidenhead RFC and most recently the fantastic Rosslyn Park 7's. This tournament will round off a very exciting season and Lambrook is delighted and thankful to be taking part in Caldicott's National 10's.

Merchiston

At Merchiston, our Rugby programme is built on history, legacy and values. We are fortunate to have over 80 Old Boys who have played and are currently playing International Rugby . Our strong tradition and inclusive culture allow all our Boys to fall in love with the game. We fully understand the importance of history within Rugby, and our fixture against Edinburgh Academy being the oldest running fixture in the world. Our main aim is for every boy to enjoy his Rugby, to build lifelong friends, experience memorable and challenging moments which will help shape him for later life. Dedicated and passionate staff ensures each Boy fulfils his potential through a progressive Rugby pathway specific to him, whilst playing alongside their friends in a thriving team environment. We are honoured to play in this incredibly exciting tournament and our Boys and Staff are very grateful for this opportunity.

Northampton School for Boys

Northampton School for Boys is a boy’s non-selective state school with a proud rugby tradition.

Former students include Courtney Lawes (England Captain), Steve Thompson (England World Cup winner 2003). The school is the Official State School partner to Northampton Saints. The school produces over 10 teams on a prestigious, topflight circuit with over 200 boys representing the school on any given Saturday. In 2013 the 1st XV were National finalists in the U18 RFU Schools Cup. In 2016, The 1st XV Won the U18 RFU Schools Vase. In 2019, The U15 team were National finalists in the RFU Schools cup. 2020 saw another U15 final, this time in the Vase (which never took place due to COVID lockdown). Last year the U14's were in the School Sports Magazine National Final against Epsom College.

QEGS, Wakefield

Since 1872 Rugby Union has formed an integral part of QEGS Wakefield. Whilst a number of Old Savilians achieved international honours; most notably, Mike Tindall (World Cup Winner), Mike Harrison (England Captain) and Gordon Bonner (B&I Lion), we take most pride in our ‘made in QEGS’ program and the number of alumni who stay in the game, whether it be in the local Yorkshire Leagues or the English or Hong Kong Premierships. QEGS has a strong tradition in the U15 and U18 Schools Cups and 2022 sees the school's 11th Final appearance at Twickenham. Although we could not emulate the 2015 U15 victory on this occasion, we are working hard to return to Twickenham in the not too distant future. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to everyone involved, whose continued efforts drive our values and ultimately enable our students to thrive.

RGS High Wycombe

RGS High Wycombe have a long rugby history and run up to 20 sides, from U12s - U18 1st XV. RGS is traditionally a two-term rugby school, competing against sides such as Whitgift, Bromsgrove and Warwick School.

Over thirty schoolboy internationals have been selected from the RGS ranks in the past twenty years. Former rugby old boys include Matt Dawson and Nick Beal (both British and Irish Lions and England representatives), Nick Duncombe (England/Harlequins), Christian Wade (Lions, England/Wasps) and most recently Ben Harris, who was named ‘Men’s Player of the Year’ for England 7s in 2021 and represented GB7’s at the Olympics later that year.

RGS Newcastle

We are thrilled to attend the Festival for the second time and thank Caldicott once again for the opportunity. RGS Newcastle has a proud rugby tradition, competing against some of the country’s top rugby schools. We take immense pride in our alumni’s sporting achievements, with recent alumni including Phil Brantingham (Saracens, England A), Will Welch (Newcastle Falcons), Fraser Balmain (Saracens), Kate Waugh (GB Triathlete, Olympian), and Tosan Evbuomwan (NBA, Ivy League Player of the Year 2022).

RGS Newcastle’s rugby philosophy emphasizes teamwork, respect, and resilience. The school is excited to contribute to this celebration of the game’s values and spirit.

Taunton

Rugby is the main sport played from Year 3 (tag) up to Year 8 just in the first term. We are proud that every pupil gets to and wants to play in fixtures most weeks against other schools in the area. It has been great to be back playing some 7s this term (although the strength of our hockey is making it increasingly harder to balance..!). Like most schools we have good years and better years and our current crop are a great bunch. They are looking forward to playing at this event against some of the top rugby playing schools in the country. Thanks to Caldicott for the invite and let’s hope we can do the South West proud.

Westbourne House

Westbourne House is a Prep School found on the South Coast in Chichester, West Sussex. Founded in 1907 at its original site in Folkstone before moving to its current home of Shopwyke House, Chichester in 1946. Westbourne House has a very proud tradition of good level sport in a variety of areas, with representatives at both County and National level steeped throughout our history, from Junior representative honours, all the way through the different age categories. Westbourne are making our debut in the event this year following a very successful season for our U13A team. Many of our players play at Chichester RFC and have a real passion for the game and have had since they joined the school as young boys. The group are very excited about the challenge of playing some of the best schools in the UK and beyond, and we are very grateful for the opportunity.
