Editorial Dear readers The turn of the year invites reflection on both what lies ahead and what lies behind us. In recent months, we have had much to contend with, but also many encounters and events that offered encouragement. The troubled global political climate has inevitably had an impact on the art market: the deep uncertainty about what the future may hold has made spending on luxury goods more restrained. Yet objects from Antiquity have survived for millennia, through wars, upheavals, and new beginnings, and so, too, the love of history and art will endure. Collecting art is a positive and affirming act that can consciously be set as a counterpoint to the divisive and destructive forces of the present. American collectors engage with Antiquity in a very direct and enthusiastic manner, with interests spanning both aesthetic considerations and the history of collecting. In February, we will be present at two fairs in Switzerland: Maze Gstaad (19-22 February 2026) and Maze St. Moritz (27 February -1 March 2026). These boutique winter salons bring together galleries and creators across modern and contemporary art, collectible design, and visual culture. Directly afterwards, we will, as usual, showcase our objects at TEFAF Maastricht (14-19 March 2026). Invitations to these fairs will be sent out in due course, and I would be delighted to welcome you there.
