DISTANT SUFFERING LVVII | i.d. of adjacent skies
one random month of consciousness
May 14 – June 14, 2026
It’s the same story every day over & over again: institutional murder and manslaughter all over the world. In Ukraine, Iran, Iraq, Yemen. Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, in Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, Haiti; it’s an endless list.
The realization that these worn-out skies, as my friend the poet Rezan Habash experiences them, connect me with that suffering, is what prompts me to look up for a moment every day. This month I record that.
