GREEN ROUTES OF CADIZ The great natural legacy of the province of Cadiz offers several “vías verdes” (or green routes). One standout is the Vía Verde de la Sierra, a winding route through the Sierra de Cadiz mountain range that follows the railway line that sets out from Jerez de la Frontera. It ends in the beautiful white village of Olvera and is perfectly prepared and signposted for the traveller. Other green routes in the province are the Vía Verde Entre Rios, the Vía Verde Puerto Real - San Fernando and the Vía Verde Matagorda.

EUROVELO 8 The city of Cadiz is the point of origin of the EuroVelo 8 route, a long-distance trans-European route known as the ‘Mediterranean Route’, which includes up to 10 countries along its length of 6000 kilometres. While Cadiz is the starting point of this route, the end is in Nicosia, Cyprus, after racking up a host of major cities and natural landscapes along the way. The first three stages of the EuroVelo 8 route take place entirely in the province of Cadiz: Cadiz-Conil de la Frontera along the Bay of Cadiz, Cónil de la Frontera-Facinas along the best-known beaches and Facinas-San Roque within the heart of the Los Alcornocales Park, before leaving the province in the 4th stage.
