Lost items may be claimed through the Rudder Theatre Complex office.

Wheelchair seating and accessibility accommodations are available. Please speak with an usher or contact us prior to the performance if assistance is needed.

SEATING

Concerts in the Rudder Theatre Complex are general admission by section. Season subscribers receive priority seating placement in the center front sections. Ushers will assist in guiding patrons to appropriate seating areas.

TICKETS

Tickets are non-refundable and nonexchangeable. If you are unable to attend, extra tickets may be left with the MSC Box Office to be given to Texas A&M students.

PARKING

Patrons may park in the University Center Garage (UCG), located directly across from the Rudder Theatre Complex, free of charge. Take a ticket from the machine upon entry; after the concert, the garage gates will be open for exit. If the gates are closed, press the help button at the exit kiosk, let them know you attended the Symphony, and the gates will be opened for you.

PRE-CONCERT RECEPTIONS

Join us an hour before each Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra performance at the Rudder Theatre Complex for a complimentary pre-concert reception. Enjoy light refreshments, a cash bar, and the chance to mingle with fellow patrons before the music begins.

Howdy and welcome to Season 44 of the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra!

Maestro Marcelo Bussiki has put together a wide variety of concerts this season, sure to please all musical tastes. From spooky Halloween numbers, to video game music, to the best of Broadway, this season has it all. Of course, there are also the traditional classical concerts with amazing guest artists, including our own Javier Chaparro and Elizabeth Lee, Bethany Clearfield, and the 2025 Van Cliburn Gold Medalist, Aristo Sham. In addition to the always-popular Holiday Pops Concert, this year, for the first time, the BVSO is joining forces with Ballet Brazos to present The Nutcracker.

Marcelo Bussiki is the music director/conductor of the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra. He has had a passion for music since his early years. Born in Cuiaba, capital of Mato Grosso State in Brazil, Bussiki left home at age 14 to study at the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. He continued his conducting studies under Maestro Roberto Duarte at Rio de Janeiro Federal University. Upon graduation, he was named music director of the orchestra of the Federal University of Mato Grosso, a position he held for six years. Bussiki was awarded knighthood in the Ordem de Merito de Mato Grosso in recognition of his pioneering work in cultural expansion and musical education. He received the title of Oficial, the highest honor that the executive power can confer upon an artist in Brazil.

Bussiki came to the United States in 1992 under a scholarship from the Brazilian government and studied at the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. From 1994-1996, he directed that university’s New Music Ensemble, developing an extensive repertoire of modern and contemporary music. He received a doctorate of musical arts in conducting from the University of Houston in 1998.

During his tenure with the Brazos Valley Symphony, Bussiki has been in demand as a guest conductor in Texas and out of state. In September 2002, he returned to his native Brazil under sponsorship from the Brazilian National Bank in Rio de Janeiro to conduct 15 performances of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera Viva la Mama, as well as other symphony concerts in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. In October 2001, he conducted a premiere performance of the Organ Concerto by vanguard U. S. composer Lou Harrison, featuring organist John Walker and the Carnegie-Mellon Percussion Ensemble, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bussiki conducts several concerts a year at the International Festival Institute at Round Top, Texas. He was conductor for the International Guitar Festival in 2005, 2006, and again in 2016. In 2014, Bussiki was awarded the “Artist of the Year” honor by The Arts Council.

John Boswell, piano

John Boswell has served as musical director for Judy Collins, Andy Williams, Bob Newhart, Scott Coulter, Maude Maggart, Faith Prince, Carmen Cusack, Babbie Green, Jason Graae and a host of other fine talents. John played the role of “Moose” in the national tour of Crazy For You and has appeared on The Tonight Show, Today Show, CBS This Morning, Regis And Kathie Lee, General Hospital and was the piano playing hands of Nancy McKeon on the sit-com THE FACTS OF LIFE. Recent concerts with symphonies have included Jerry Herman: The Broadway Legacy Concert, BLOCKBUSTER BROADWAY!, Sheena Easton and Scott Coulter: The Spy Who Loved Me and MUSIC OF THE KNIGHTS. John has been heard singing in the shows THREE MEN AND A BABY...GRAND, CINEMA TOAST, BROADWAY TODAY, WISEGUYS and the New York cult hit CASHINO. Broadway/Off Broadway credits include Crazy For You, The Secret Garden, LIZA! Steppin’ Out At Radio City Music Hall,Back To Bacharach And David and The Kathy And Mo Show: Parallel Lives. His monthly concerts in 2017 at The Gardenia in Los Angeles have been crowd pleasers. John has eight CDs of original piano music and a ninth on the way. While a student at UCLA, John received the Frank Sinatra Award for popular instrumentalists.

Scott Coulter, vocalist

Scott Coulter is one of New York’s most honored vocalists having received five MAC Awards, five Bistro Awards and two Nightlife Awards for Outstanding Vocalist as well as Emmy and Grammy nominations. He spent a recordsetting eight months at Feinstein’s at the Regency performing the revue 11 O’CLOCKNUMBERS AT 11 O’CLOCK which he also co-created, directed and musically arranged. His self-titled debut CD won MAC Award for Outstanding Recording and was chosen as the best recording of the year by TheatreMania and Cabaret Scenes magazines. Scott was director and star of A CHRISTMAS CAROL: THE SYMPHONIC CONCERT in its world premiere with the Baltimore Symphony and reprised his performance in the Emmy-nominated PBS production. He is an Emmy nominee himself for his performance in AMERICAN SONG at NJPAC and a Grammy nominee as a featured vocalist on the album “Sondheim Unplugged: The NYC Sessions.” Scott regularly performs in concert both as a solo artist and with a variety of legendary performers including Sheena Easton and Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Schwartz. Schwartz has said “One of the greatest things that can happen to a composer is to have his music interpreted by Scott Coulter.”

Scott is creator, arranger and director of several touring shows (symphonic and non-) including MUSIC OF THE KNIGHTS, THE WONDERFUL MUSIC OF OZ, BLOCKBUSTER BROADWAY!, and, for The ASCAP Foundation, JERRY HERMAN: THE BROADWAY LEGACY CONCERT. Along with Michael Kerker and ASCAP, he’s a regular producer/director of Michael Feinstein’s STANDARD TIME at Carnegie Hall. Scott recently wrote the book for the new musical GOT TO BE THERE which celebrates the life and music of songwriter Elliot Willensky. Scott, along with Dave Gaebler, is a co-producer of the Jessica Hendy/Brianna Barnes musical “Walking WIth Bubbles” which received a 2023 Drama Desk Award nomination and won an Off-Broadway Alliance Award. The show’s cast album is produced by Coulter and Vibecke Dahle Dellapolla. Coulter and Gaebler are also on the producing teams of the Broadway musicals “Water for Elephants,””Suffs” (Tony Award-winner for Best Book of a Musical and Best Score), “CATS: The Jellicle Ball,” and “The Hunger Games”(UK).

Scott is founder/owner of Spot-On Entertainment and Spot-On Arts Academy and is a resident director of programming at 54 Below (Broadway’s Supper Club) in NYC. He was the artistic director of the Pocono Mountains Music Festival for eight years and founder of the Pocono Pops! He is the executive & artistic director of the Palm Springs Pops Orchestra created for the historic Plaza Theatre in California. Scott is a proud graduate of the Cincinnati CollegeConservatory of Music which honored him with the CCM Young Alumni Award in 2010, CCM’s Distinguished Service Award in 2020, and CCM’s Alumni Guest of Honor in 2026.

Jessica Hendy, vocalist

Jessica Hendy is widely recognized as one of Broadway’s best belters. Her numerous Broadway credits include starring roles in CATS (Grizabella), Elton John’s AIDA (Amneris), and AMOUR. She has toured the US and Canada in both CATS (Grizabella) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Narrator). In New York, she garnered rave reviews for her one woman cabaret, “A Life To Call Your Own,” and received a Bistro Award for her cabaret debut in the musical comedy revue “Get Your Tickets Now.” Jessica’s NYC pre-Broadway workshops include DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES, Elton John’s AIDA and THE MOLLY MAGUIRES.She played Diana Goodman in the regional premier of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical NEXT TO NORMAL, at The Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati. Her performance was so well reviewed that the show became the hottest ticket in town. In turn, the ETC production was such a hit that it was brought back for a second run the following summer. The result was another stellar run. Her performance as ‘Jeanne’ in THE GREAT AMERICA TRAILER PARK MUSICAL at The Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati earned her an ACCLAIM Award for Best Actress. CLO and North Shore Music Theatre where she starred in MISS SAIGON (Ellen), and the Helen Hayes Perf Arts Center in SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD with the Tony-winning Jason Robert Brown at the piano.Jessica’s symphonic concert work includes performances with Cincinnati Pops, Modesto Symphony, Long Beach Symphony, Ft. Worth Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra and the Phoenix Symphony. She travels the country as featured vocalist in several concert events including “Broadway Today!” and “Cinema Toast: The Music of the Movies.” Ms. Hendy is a proud graduate of the University of Cincinnati CollegeConservatory of Music.

Kelli Rabke, vocalist

Kelli Rabke got her “big break” playing the role of Dorothy in Paper Mill Playhouse’s acclaimed production of The Wizard Of Oz. Shortly thereafter, she was handpicked by Andrew Lloyd Webber to play the lead role of the Narrator in the Broadway revival of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (US Cast Recording). Following that, she played her dream role: Eponine in Les Miserables on Broadway. She went on to perform in regional theaters across the country in such roles as Mabel in Mack And Mabel, Christine in Phantom, and back to Paper

Mill Playhouse in Stephen Schwartz’s Children Of Eden as Yonah (American Premiere Recording). She is one of the only Broadway stars to originate a role in both a Stephen Schwartz and an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical — a distinction for which she is incredibly honored. She has been seen and heard in tons of TV commercials and voice-overs, and was the voice of several animated characters, including Kat in the Discovery Kids series Kenny The Shark. She also played the recurring role of Bernadette on The Young And The Restless.

After leaving the bright lights of the stage to start a family, Kelli is now a staple in the NYC cabaret world. Her first solo cabaret show debuted to a sold out crowd at Feinstein’s/54 Below and since then, she’s been featured in shows ranging from Sondheim to Streisand to Bernstein. She now performs regularly with symphony orchestras stretching from Calgary to Mazatlan and all across the country in Blockbuster Broadway, Music of the Knights, and The Wonderful Music of Oz. Recent highlights include debuting an original song written by David Friedman and Kathie Lee Gifford on the Today Show, and recording the PBS American Songbook segment Stephen Schwartz and Friends, featuring the composer himself at the piano and Kelli singing one of his signature songs from Wicked, “The Wizard and I”.
