Sheffield Digital Transfers Has Been Saving Memories Since 1981

heffield Digital Transfers is a Division of Sheffield Entertainment and Sheffield Films, based in Newnan, Georgia. Our company was founded in 1981 in Roanoke, Virginia under the name AKD Video Productions. We operated in S.W. Virginia for almost 15 years before we re-located to Wilmington, NC under our new name: Sheffield Entertainment, where our focus was on Feature Films, Documentaries, and independent film production. We also produced EPK’s, TV Commercials and provided transfer service to corporations and individuals who needed their Film and Video libraries updated to digital formats. In July of 2014 Sheffield re-located (for the last time) to Newnan, Georgia where we are continuing our work in the same vein as before. Our immediate challenge was to continue our Transfer Services to individuals and others who needed this type of work on an as need basis. We also work with Gracie’s Friends (a 501 C3 Corporation) that helps find homes for homeless animals. One new service we now provide is Aerial Photography to Realtors, Golf Courses and Custom Builders. Our transfer service is based on the numerous tape formats that were popular in the past and have now almost disappeared. This is important for people to understand that these older tape formats were based on the fact that film and videotape was made from a petrochemical extrusion that was subject to damages from extreme temperatures and improper storage that can almost destroy the media on the tape. Videotape is also subject to breaking after excessive use (playing and rewinding of the tape). That is the primary reason for transferring the old tapes to the DVD (Digital Format). If the disk is properly cared for, the life of a DVD can be in excess of 100 years according to the experts. (Important to remember, that heat and any excessive scratching of the surface of the DVD can also damage DVD’s)
