It is again our privilege to welcome you to our 66th year of having the Tegtmeier Polled Hereford Production Sale. We greatly appreciate your time and interest in looking over our cattle and our breeding program.
Our father, Clarence Tegtmeier, started this herd nearly 80 years ago. His goal was to supply the commercial cowman with good bulls and heifers to increase their profitability. That goal has not changed, and we are proud to be involved with this great breed for as long as we have.
Increasing your profitability is reached by supplying you with bulls and females that are moderate birth with efficient growth and strong maternal traits with an emphasis on milk flow, udder quality and better carcass traits. We have worked hard in supplying you cattle with a balance of traits that excel in all areas, not just a single trait selection. To breed cattle that have all these traits in one, plus to have eye appeal with the nonmeasured trait such as sound feet and legs, structural soundness, fertility and longevity, makes this very challenging for us as well as for you in your selection process. The cattle business is data driven and we encourage you to use all the provided information in your selection process.
Most, if not all, of the cattle selling will have GE-EPDs (Genetic Enhanced EPDs). GE-EPDs provide the latest technology available to genetically test an animal to obtain the highest accuracy possible in their EPDs. We spent the money and time for the testing to give you, the buyers, the highest level of confidence in a bull’s or heifer’s ability to transmit their breeding performance. You will also notice many of the bulls designated with the Certified Hereford Beef® Logo. This signifies that the bull is in the top 50% of the breed for producing feeder cattle that will excel in the economically relevant traits of gain, feed efficiency and carcass merit, when mated to Angus cows.

1. Terms — Cash or Check. Each animal to be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer shall settle any dispute as to bids.
2. All cattle are to be paid for by the purchaser during or immediately after the sale unless other arrangements have been made prior to the sale.
3. Each animal will be the purchaser’s risk immediately after the animal is sold. They will be fed and cared for free of charge for a reasonable length of time after the sale but at the purchaser’s risk.
4. All cattle will be sold in compliance with the health laws of the state of Nebraska.
5. Breeding Guarantee — All bulls and females are guaranteed to be breeders if given proper care. Heifers pronounced safe in calf by the veterinarian shall be considered breeders without any further guarantee. Any animal failing to breed within five months may be returned to the seller if in as good condition as when sold. The seller reserves the right to try said animal for five months. If the animal proves to be a breeder, the owner gets the bull at his expense. If it fails to be a breeder, an exchange will be made or his money returned.
6. All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. Owner assumes no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents which may occur.
7. Bids may be sent to any of the sale staff.
8. Please be assured if you buy cattle we will take care of them for a reasonable length of time, especially where long distance travel is involved.
9. Owner reserves the right to make additions or withdraw any cataloged entries if they fail to meet our standards at sale time.
10. Announcements at the sale ring concerning the cattle will take precedence over statements in the catalog.
Bull Breeding Guarantee:
The bulls in this sale are guaranteed breeders. Semen evaluations, health reports, and all claims must be submitted in writing to seller within six months of the sale date at buyer’s expense from a veterinarian. Seller shall have the privilege of trying the bull after return before any adjustments are made. Guarantee is void if evidence of improper management in caring for the animal or the bull’s inability to breed is due to sickness or injury incurred after bull is sold.

Fall Yearling Bulls
The fall yearling bulls are managed differently than the coming two-year-olds. They do receive some creep feed during the winter to help them develop depending on weather conditions. They were weaned at the end of April of this past year and fed for about a month, then turned onto grass for the summer. The yearling weights reflect these bulls being on grass until November 15.

Two-Year-Old Bulls
The two-year-old bulls were raised without creep feed and fed a high roughage ration from weaning to yearling. We feed for a moderate gain, and not for a maximum yearling weight or high carcass data. I have switched to all Tegtmeier Hereford bulls the last three years on my 225 commercial black angus herd. I now have 11 bulls from Russ, and am planning to get a few more to run all Hereford bulls on my black cows. My calves from the last three years since using Russ’s bulls have increased my weights 50lbs heavier than my previous 7-8 years. I’m happy with the docility of the bulls which has made my calves easier to work with, plus the overall look, makes them very easy to market as great replacement black baldy females, and good heavy steers.
