This bull has growth numbers in the top 2% of the breed, great milk and carcass numbers, with his CHB ranking in the top 17% of the breed. 2026 HEREFORD CONSIGNORS
MDB Polled Herefords
As a recently retired biology educator who grew up on a 200-acre Holstein dairy farm, I decided I needed something to do in retirement. In 2016, Debbie and I purchased some acreage and chose to get the farm, “still in the boy” out in the open. We decided on a feedstock operation with registered Polled Herefords. Our focus has been on improving our own herd each year by mating every cow we own to the very best available AI genetics. Through trial and error and some luck, we now have bulls and heifers that others would like to include in their herds. We are honored to be a part of the NWHB Sale and believe this sale has some of the top animals available in the breed. Hope to see you on March 9, 2026.
Stephenson Herefords
We are excited to join the NWHB Sale for our 12th year! We are a small, 4th generation, family-owned operation located in beautiful Lemhi Valley of Salmon,
Idaho. The Stephenson family started in Utah, moving to the Salmon Valley around 1980 to run Hereford cattle. For the past 20 years we have worked to develop our own herd focusing on a highly maternal cow that can produce a calf with growth and carcass. Along with our two children, Brooke and John, we are currently running around 140 mother cows. We run a mix of registered Herefords and a commercial group with Red Angus influence, raising registered Hereford bulls and registered and commercial replacement heifers. We primarily sell our bulls through private treaty. Again, this year we are bringing prime commercial Red Angus/Hereford replacement heifers to the sale. We look forward to seeing you in March.

Wilcox and Family Cattle Co
A long history of Herefords exists with the Wilcox family as Marty’s grandparents immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1900’s, homesteading in central Montana and ran commercial Hereford cows. Our ranch headquarters, located in Spangle, Washington, was purchased in 1992. The family includes Marty and Shannon and sons Matthew & Derrick and wife Jessica. We raise purebred Hereford seed stock with heavy emphasis on AI & Embryo transplant. We also sell show quality heifers and steers. Our herd is focused on balanced traits, with cattlemen minded profitability and sorted on a competitive phenotype. We have shown cattle at major Hereford shows; however, we don’t breed show cattle rather we show production cattle. Our family has been a consignor at the NWHB Sale, periodically, since the first sale in 2009.
Bird Herefords
Herefords have always been a part of Lynda and Dave’s life, growing up on Hereford cattle ranches in eastern Oregon and are 4th generation Hereford breeders. We are blessed to live in beautiful, but unrelenting Pine Valley, gateway to Hells Canyon. Summers are ideal for cattle although temperatures range in the 90’s and winters can be long and harsh reaching -30 degrees and snow of 3 feet or more. The cattle run on irrigated pastures and fed only grass hay we produce ourselves. In 1978 we started our herd with cattle purchased from Oveson Herefords. Currently we run 80 cows with Lynda’s sister, Cheryl Thomas, also having cows in our herd. Early on cattle were shown & sold in Reno, the Cow Palace, the NILE and Denver; however, since 1980 we have also participated in consignment sales. We AI extensively, selecting sires that produce strong functional bulls with exceptional EPDs and carcass numbers. We have consigned bulls to all 18 years of the NWHB Bull Sale.
Limestone Blue LLC
Limestone Blue is a family cattle operation nestled in the diverse landscape of southwest Idaho, operated by our family of eight children dedicated to sustainable cattle ranching. We raise registered Hereford and Angus cattle, Shetland ponies, and Gypsy Vanner horses. Our family’s hands-on approach with the cattle includes using embryos, which allows us to selectively propagate elite genetics without maintaining large herds of donor cows. The name, Limestone Blue, reflects Morgan & Camie’s roots to Idaho’s Bear Lake Valley where the limestone-rich Bear Lake is located. The limestone in the lake gives the water its unique Caribbean blue hue. Morgan grew up on a dairy farm in Bear Lake Valley, while Camie grew up on a farm/ ranch in the same valley. We moved to the Treasure Valley in 2004 because of a larger cattle population and a career in cattle reproduction. Our business model includes using elite lines of cattle as well as embryo transfer to create superior genetics.
430 Cattle Company
I am excited as a first-time consignor to be offering three polled bulls this year. Owned and operated by Darcy Bedortha in Prineville, Oregon, it is a small herd committed to excellence. My cowherd is built on solid, primarily horned daughters from the Colyer program. My goal is to produce structurally correct, moderately framed, highly maternal bulls and heifers with efficiency and longevity that will work for a variety of operations.
Alder Livestock
Shane Alder’s love of Hereford cattle stemmed from his upbringing as his family raised Hereford cattle. In 2011, Shane acquired registered Herefords and was always very selective in the cattle that he chose to retain in this herd. In 2018 Alder Livestock became the official name of his ranch. He has had commercial Herefords as well as at one time some Angus. Through the years he sold his cattle in other sales in the area as well as private treaty and consigned to the NWHB bull sale in recent years. His wife, Becky, commented, “It was always so fun to see the babies arrive and watch them run and play in the pastures”.
Norman“Shane” Alder
2026 NWHB Bull Sale is dedicated to the memory of Shane Alder
Norman Shane Alder, beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on November 19, 2025 in Melba, Idaho, after courageously fighting cancer for three and a half years. He was 52 years old.
Shane was born on September 3, 1973, in Nampa, Idaho, to Norman Craig Alder and Kathryn Etta Rosier Alder. The second of six children, he grew up in Melba, where he learned the values of hard work, service, and faith. At just 13 years old, he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a testament to his dedication and determination even from a young age.
A proud graduate of Melba High School, Shane later attended Utah State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science. It was at USU, in a church group, that he met the love of his life, Becky. The two were married on November 7, 1998, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
Shane returned to his hometown to work the land he loved. A tireless farmer and rancher, he poured his heart into caring for his crops, his cattle, and his community. He also served faithfully as a board member for the Farm Bureau, advocating for agriculture and the families who depend on it.
A lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Shane served a two-year mission in Dallas, Texas, an experience that shaped his compassion and strengthened his testimony. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the first counselor in the Warren Spur Ward bishopric, where he blessed many lives with his kindness, patience, and example.
Shane’s talents and passions were many. He found joy in flying, hunting, and working with cows, and he had a special place in his heart for music. He loved playing the piano and guitar once in a while and would often sing in a men’s group in church. Recently he was also able to obtain his pilot’s license just prior to getting sick with cancer the 2nd time. He was known for his ever-present smile, his quick wit, his gentle humor, and his unwavering desire to help those around him. He was selfless, supportive, and endlessly patient — qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.
Shane is survived by his devoted wife, Becky Alder; his parents, Norman Craig Alder and Kathryn Alder; and his cherished children: Madyson Treasure (Ryan Treasure), Carson Alder, Connor Alder, and Maycee Alder. He is also remembered with love by his siblings and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, John Rober Parish (Heidi Alder Perish.)
Shane will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the entire Melba community. His legacy of kindness, service, humor, and love — along with his fondness for cows and ice cream — will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
