Program Overview The Butler University online Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) empowers you to become a purposeful practitioner and leader in your community. Our curriculum and program structure promote the application of classroom concepts in practical professional settings through experiential rotations. You will gain a holistic education from experienced faculty, many of whom actively practice the subjects they teach. Upon graduation, your Butler PharmD will open doors to multiple potential career paths in and beyond the pharmacy.

Program Design Live Virtual Sessions: We designed our curriculum for personalized learning through small class sizes that emphasize collaboration. Each course consists of 60–120 minutes of live engagement per week in the form of live debates, presentations, and breakout group discussions.

On-Campus Immersions: We hold three on-campus immersions over the course of our program. You will have the opportunity to strengthen your Butler community through interacting with faculty and peers, hearing from industry speakers, developing your professional soft skills, advancing your interviewing and counseling techniques, and participating in role-play and simulations.
Experiential Rotations: Experiential rotations give you an opportunity to learn by doing and put classroom theories into practice. The program incorporates 12 one-month experiential rotations of 160 hours each. You will complete two Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) before commencing a series of 10 Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs) in the following areas: 1 Community (IPPE) 1 Institutional (IPPE) 1 General Medicine IPPEs

APPEs
There are numerous options for rotation sites throughout Indiana, across the nation, and abroad. A placement coordinator will work with you to find placements in your area. If a rotation site(s) cannot be secured near your residence, we will place you in one of our existing rotation sites in the Indianapolis area. Travel and housing costs will be the student’s responsibility.
