October is the annual Trailblazer issue for Business North Carolina and once again features people under 40 making a difference in their rural communities. Other feature stories included Ted Reed on the Charlotte airport and another on how Richard Bryant and Bobby Edgerton started Capital Investment Group and have kept it successful for 40 years. The magazine also looked at eight behind-the-scenes political influencers shaping politics in the state. The Power List interview was on Richard Samet who talked about how he has carried on the family tradition. Chris Burritt looked at the success of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina on its 10th anniversary. Other trend stories involved a Baby Bar (coffee and moms) in Greensboro, separate stories in changes in the real estate and pharmaceutical industries, the N.C. Treasurer race, Laura Vinroot Poole and her boutique clothing store, and a $500,00 frat party at UNC Chapel Hill. The roundtable was on diversity.
