DEPARTMENT OF MARKETING The Department of Marketing houses the two disciplines of marketing and business education. Marketing faculty utilize an active learning, high-student-involvement approach in their classes, and emphasize application of concepts and theory through use of individual and group case analysis, computer-simulation gaming, and client-based research projects. Students benefit from classroom opportunities to develop their communication, listening, problem-solving, and critical decision-making skills. Students may pursue a general Marketing degree or specialize in one of three sequences: Integrated Marketing Communication, Professional Sales, or Advanced Marketing Analytics. The business education program prepares students to become certified business educators for Kindergarten through 12th Grade. Students complete foundation courses in business along with specialized coursework in professional education, teaching methodology, and a student teaching assignment. Additional coursework is completed to meet state certification requirements in three or more endorsement areas: accounting, basic business, information processing, and career and technical education cooperative teacher coordinator to name a few. The Department of Marketing offers a sequence to Marketing Majors in Advanced Marketing Analytics. This sequence provides students with hands-on opportunities to learn data mining and predictive analytics techniques using tools such as SAS, SPSS, R SQL and Tableau to solve important marketing business problems. These skills are in very high demand by employers across fields. Extensive use of company-sponsored projects enable students to connect theory with practice, and guest speakers explain current industry practices and provide students with an opportunity to network and gain additional practical experience. The sequence is comprised of four Ph.D. faculty members.
Our Integrated Marketing Communication sequence allows students to focus on the coordination of all aspects of marketing communication such as advertising, social media, sales promotion and digital marketing in an effort to provide a consistent message to consumers. In addition to foundation and capstone IMC courses, the sequence includes courses on creative strategy and design layout using Adobe Creative Cloud applications. The Professional Sales sequence is consistently listed as one of the top sales programs in the U.S. The quality of the program is reflected in recent recognition of our ISU student sales team as Overall Champion and one of our students as Individual Champion at the 2019 National Collegiate Sales Competition, the longest running role-play sales competition in the U.S. Through our Professional Sales Institute, a wide range of industry professionals are actively involved in executive instructor opportunities, sitting on panels to address student topics, and being a resource to sales students to develop their business acumen. The sales program is organized with four faculty members, and a Professional Sales Institute consisting of an executive director and an advisory board of practicing sales professionals. •

2020 AWARD WINNER STUDENT BIOGRAPHIES •
Business Education Awardees •
Rachael Alvey is currently completing her second bachelor’s degree in Business Education. She received her first degree in business administration and after that, became a substitute teacher. After doing that for a while, she realized how much she loved teaching and decided to go back to school. Rachel will begin student teaching this coming August. She plans on teaching business at a high school level, but her long-term goal is to go back for a master’s in business administration and teach business at a community college. Rachael is achieving all this while caring for a beautiful five-year-old boy. Jennifer Betthauser is from Niles, IL. She is a Business Education Major, expecting to graduate May 2020. Jenn is an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha and Order of Omega. Her sophomore and junior year she held the position of Points Chair in Zeta Tau Alpha. Her senior year she participated in a year long student teaching internship program, Professional Development Schools (PDS). In addition, she completed a position as a Teaching Assistant during her Fall 2019 semester for a course in the MQM department. Fall 2019 is the first semester that Jennifer was on the Dean’s List taking a great amount of dedication and hard work. She is very excited to secure a Business Teacher position in the upcoming future and continue on with her education. Matt Evans is a junior from Washington, IL, majoring in business education. Matt will graduate in May 2021. Matt studied abroad in Costa Rica and has many honors, including multiple semesters on the The Dean’s List and being a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Matt is unsure of his plans after graduation but hopes to go back and earn a master’s degree. Lexis Leiteritz is a Post-Baccalaureate student from Ottawa, Illinois currently majoring in Business Education. She is preparing to graduate in May 2020. She previously received her bachelor’s degree from Illinois State in May 2017 in Marketing with a sequence in professional sales. Lexi’s honors include being a scholarship recipient from the JED scholarship for 4 years and Lewis R. Toll scholarship recipient in 2019. She looks forward in educating the youth in all things Business! Chloe Lombardi is a senior from Wilmington, IL, majoring in Business Teacher Education. Chloe will be graduating with honors in May 2020. Outside of
the classroom, Chloe is on the Illinois Business Education Association’s Board of Directors as the student representative. She has volunteered her time at YouthBuild Mclean County where she served as a teacher assistant and at Blue Ridge High School where she was as an assistant girls’ basketball coach. Chloe’s honors include multiple semesters on the Dean’s List. She is very excited to begin her career as and educator and coach after graduation. Amy Saldivar is a 4th year student from Cary IL, where she graduated from Cary-Grove High School. Amy is majoring in Business Teacher Education and is anticipating to graduate in May 2021. Amy began her college career at McHenry County College where she obtained an Associates in May of 2018. Amy was inducted into the Golden Apple Foundation in 2018 as a fellow scholar. Amy is currently involved with Golden Apple ISU. During her school breaks or vacations, Amy makes sure to get involved at Cary-Grove High School where she mentors students in the business department. She has also made the time to volunteer with Virtual Enterprises International, where she judges high school business students work. Amy was also named the business outstanding student of the year in 2016 at Cary-Grove high school. As a first-generation student, Amy hopes to be able to set a great example for other first-generation students. Amy is excited to start her journey into student-teaching and making an impact in her students lives. Rianna Spata is a senior majoring in Business Education from Palatine, IL. She has been involved in Women in Business. Rianna is completing her student teaching at Normal Community High School this semester. Allegra Victor is a senior from Seneca, IL, majoring in Education with a sequence in Business Teacher Education. Allegra will be graduating in December 2020. Allegra served one year as the student representative on the Council for Teacher Education. Her honors include multiple semesters on The Dean’s List. She will be student teaching in the Fall 2020 semester. She has been a substitute teacher for five years and she is very excited for life post-graduation as a business teacher. She is hoping to teach at the 7th and 8th grade or high school level after graduation. Natalie Wollard is a junior Business Education student from Lake Zurich, IL. Natalie is also working towards her Computer Science licensure. Natalie will graduate in May 2021 and is looking forward to the student teaching experience next Spring. On campus, Natalie is involved in College Republicans and Educators Rising. In her free time, Natalie volunteers at the Humane Society of Central Illinois and enjoys coaching cheerleading. She is very excited to graduate and begin her career as a Business educator and would also like to sponsor both business and politics related clubs and coach cheerleading at her place of employment.
Marketing Awardees •
Amanda Anderson is a junior from Genoa, Illinois, majoring in Advanced Marketing Analytics and minoring in International Business. Graduating in May 2021, she is planning to pursue a role within the consumer insights or strategy realms at a mid to large-sized company in Chicago. Amanda has been actively involved with the Business Week team and Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity. She started her involvement with Business Week as a Mentee and has since served as Assistant Marketing Coordinator and Vice President of Marketing. In Alpha Kappa Psi, Amanda has held the positions of Mentor, Service Chair, Pledge Activities Coordinator, and Vice President of Membership. She is looking forward to continuing her involvement with both organizations throughout her senior year. Amanda has also served on the Pay It Forward and Social Media committees in the College of Business, and enjoys her internship working under the Executive Director of Marketing in the COB, Steve Vandiver. Jacob Artner is a senior general marketing major from Johnsboro, IL. Alessando Berto is a senior majoring in marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales from Glenview, IL. Ryan Blum is a senior from Groveland, IL, majoring in Marketing with sequences in Integrated Marketing Communications and Advanced Marketing Analytics. Ryan will be graduating in December 2020. Ryan’s campus activities include his involvement with the American Marketing Association and being a part of the club golf team. Within the American Marketing Association, Ryan held the secretary position on the executive board. During his time in this position, he helped lead chapter meetings, manage directors, and keep formal records of meetings and events. His honors include multiple semesters on the Dean’s List. Ryan is very excited for his life post-graduation, where he plans to work as a Marketing Analyst for a Fortune 500 company. Emily Boone is a junior from Mount Vernon, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in General Marketing and Business Administration. Emily will be graduating in May 2021. Emily’s campus activities include her involvement in the Delta Zeta Organization, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Beta Gamma Sigma. Within Delta Zeta she has served as House Manager, Head of Food and Decorations, and Senior Chairman. Emily has also volunteered at many places during her time at Illinois State University, including Towanda Elementary and Sugar Creek Elementary. Her honors include multiple semesters on The Dean’s List, a U.S. Bank Scholarship three years in a row, and multiple semesters she has received Certificates of Academic Achievement Awards for a 4.0 GPA. She is beyond excited to strive for success after graduation and is working towards becoming a Marketing Manager in Nashville, TN.
Ryane Brady grew up in Naperville but Normal is her permanent residence. Ryane is a marketing major with a sequence in advanced data analytics and will be graduating this May. She tutors micro and macroeconomics as well as statistics at the Visor center on campus. Additionally, she volunteers as a foster for Wishbone Canine Rescue in Bloomington, where she adopted her dog last January. This past fall she was on the dean’s list in the college of business, and also completed the business week mentor program as a mentee her sophomore year. She has a great passion for data and is grateful for all the opportunities that have been provided to her during her time at Illinois State. Emily Chiarello is a Senior from Vernon Hills, Illinois. She is majoring in Marketing with a double sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications and Advanced Marketing Analytics and minoring in Management – Organizational Leadership. Emily is a member of the official ISU Cheerleading Team. Beyond practices, she cheers at home athletic events, volunteers for events and appearances around the community, and currently runs the team’s social media platforms. Emily also works for Redbird Athletics as a Marketing Intern and manages the on-campus grassroots signage which promotes for upcoming athletics events. As a member of the Honors Program, Emily has not only maintained good standing with the Program but has grown within it, serving as an Honors Peer Mentor. She was awarded the Outstanding Junior in Marketing Analytics Award last year, has been on the Dean’s List every semester of college, and is honored to be graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA this May. Teresa Greenwald is a junior from Peoria, IL, majoring in Marketing double sequencing in Advanced Marketing Analytics and Integrated Marketing Communications and will be graduating in May 2021. Outside of the classroom, Teresa is involved in Women in Business and the 2019-2020 Business Week Team. Within Women in Business, she currently serves as the Vice President of Recruitment and previously as the Director of Operations. She also currently serves as the Marketing Coordinator on the 2019-2020 Business Week Team and previously as a mentee in the Business Week Mentor Program. Teresa also works as a Student Manager at Starbucks on campus and is actively involved in the University Scholar Association as a 3rd year University Scholar. In October 2019, she was chosen to be the Junior year representative of ISU at the Multicultural Talent Pipeline conference in Atlanta, GA. Her favorite accomplishment so far has been raising over $350 for a local animal shelter by organizing and leading an on-campus fundraiser, Smooch a Pooch, through Women in Business. Her honors include multiple semesters on The Dean’s List and being a University Scholarship recipient. Kurtis Hoock is a senior from Normal, IL, majoring in Marketing with sequences in Integrated Marketing Communications and Advanced Marketing Analytics. He will be graduating in May 2020. Kurtis’s campus activities include his involvement with the ISU Salesforce Student Group. Within the ISU
Salesforce Group; Kurtis has served as group leader and board member. Kurtis also attended and presented at Dreamforce in San Francisco, CA, with a team from the organization. In addition, Kurtis has had unique internships in both Denver, CO, and Normal, IL, where he was able to expand his knowledge of modern-day business. Kurtis has volunteered at many places throughout his time at ISU, including The Humane Society of Central Illinois and with the organization GEMS. He is excited for life post-graduation and is ready to to see what the future has in store. Alexis Kmety is a Junior from Peotone, IL, majoring in Integrated Marketing Communications, with a minor in Business Environment and Sustainability. Alexis is preparing to graduate in May 2021 and is actively searching for marketing and advertising positions. Alexis studied abroad in Spring of 2020, in Limerick, Ireland and received the Office of International Studies General Education Scholarship. She gained a lot from this experience and especially loved making friends and connections around the world and meeting some of her family! Alexis is very involved on campus, in her co-ed professional business fraternity, Pi Sigma Epsilon. She is currently working on the Marketing Committee but has also been active with the Recruitment Committee. She has also served as the chapter’s Recording Secretary and Recruitment Promotions Director. Katie Kranich is a Freshman from Roselle, IL studying Marketing with sequences in Integrated Marketing Communications and Professional Sales. Katie will be graduating in May 2023. At Illinois State University, Katie is involved with the American Marketing Association and is a current potential member of the professional business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi. In American Marketing Association, Katie currently holds the director of service and fundraising position and is the president for the 2020-2021 school year. Through her experiences with Alpha Kappa Psi, Katie has had the opportunity to run a nonprofit business on campus and develop her professional skills. Katie values the importance of giving back, so her volunteer experiences include volunteering as an ambassador for the College of Business and as a barista for A Just Brew. She also had the opportunity to work with Service Over Self for an alternative spring break mission trip. Katie is eager to see how she can continue to make a positive impact at Illinois State University through her leadership and passion. Kali Latty is a junior from Bourbonnais, IL, and is majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications and a minor in Accounting. Kali is expected to graduate in May of 2021. On campus, she is an active member in organizations such as Hear My Soul, National Association for Black Accountants (NABA), and TRiO. She holds the position of founder and president for Hear My Soul, and was just recently elected Marketing Chair Executive for NABA for the upcoming school year. Kali has volunteered at a
women and children’s shelter for those that have been abused, and also served as a mentor for high school students. Her honors include several semesters on The Dean’s List, and being named a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. She looks forward to expanding her knowledge, and eventually being accepted into an internship program. MyKala Leibrock is from Lindenhurst, Illinois and chose to go to Illinois State University because of their amazing business program. She is a Marketing major with a sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications and plans to graduate in May 2020. MyKala has been the President of the American Marketing Association and Vice President of public relations for the College Panhellenic Council. MyKala has overcome her learning disabilities to not only attend college, but also receive scholarships and lead in several organizations. Allison Levine is a Senior from Naperville, IL, majoring in Marketing with a double sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications and Advanced Marketing Analytics. Allison is a May 2020 graduate. Allison’s campus involvement includes serving as the Public Relations Coordinator for the Association of Residence Halls for 2 years. She is heavily involved with Business Week. She started as a mentee in her sophomore year and was selected to serve as the Fortieth Year Coordinator last year. Allison is also an active member of Alpha Gamma Delta and has served on the Academic Excellence, Marketing, Public Relations, and Special Events Committees. She also works for the Julia N. Visor Academic center here on campus as a Finite Mathematics tutor. Allison’s volunteer efforts include helping out with Habitat for Humanity’s Restore, Midwest Foodbank, and raising money for fighting hunger, her sorority’s philanthropy. Allison’s honors include her selection as a 2019-2020 Bone Scholar Nominee, and Outstanding Junior in Marketing Award Last Year. Allison Mann is a senior from Oakwood, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications. Allison will be graduating in May 2020. Allison’s campus activities include her involvement with the American Marketing Association, serving as Vice President of Communications for the 2019-2020 school year. Allison is also a student worker at Campus Recreation working as a Marketing Assistant and a Marketing Ambassador. Sarah McQuaid is a senior from Farmer City, Illinois, double majoring in Integrated Marketing Communication and English- Publishing Studies. As an Illinois State University Presidential Scholar and Dean’s List Honoree since Fall 2016, Sarah will be graduating in May 2020. Sarah was nominated for the 2019 Robert G. Bone Scholarship. She also presented research in the 2019 English Studies at Large Conference and published research in the Fall 2018 issue of Polyglossia Research Journal. In addition to her scholarly work, Sarah is a Social Media Marketing Intern for the Illinois State University College of Business and a Social Media intern for Illinois State University Admissions. She is
also involved on campus through Sigma Tau Delta, Beta Gamma Sigma, the Illinois State University Honors Program, Campus Recreation, and University Housing Services. Sarah has been honored in the past with the Delta Nu Alpha James Katschke Scholarship Award, Anna Keaton Award, and Canning Award. Alyssa Ream is a senior from Naperville, IL, majoring in Marketing with sequences in Integrated Marketing Communications and Advanced Marketing Analytics. Alyssa will be graduating Magna Cum Laude in May 2020. Alyssa’s campus activities include her involvement as co-leader for the Salesforce student group on campus, the Salesforce Trailblazers, Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honors Society, and Alpha Delta Pi social sorority. Alyssa has represented Illinois State University for 2 years in a row at one of the largest tech conferences in the world, Salesforce’s Dreamforce, through the Trailhead for Students case competition. She and her team made it to the final 4 out of 100+ teams in the nation, beating out schools such as Berkley, USC, and Indiana University. Her honors include multiple semesters on the Dean’s List. Post-graduation Alyssa will be pursuing a career in the Salesforce ecosystem. Rachel Ream is a senior Marketing student from Naperville, IL. She will be graduating in May 2020 with a dual sequence in Advanced Marketing Analytics and Integrated Marketing Communications. During her time at Illinois State University, she was the Co-Leader for the Salesforce Student Group on campus, and a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honors Society and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Rachel has been a past recipient of the Pay-It-Forward Scholarship and will be graduating Magna Cum Laude. Her biggest accomplishment thus far is being a finalist, two years in a row, in Salesforce’s Trailhead for Students Case Competition. She and her teammates were invited out to San Francisco, CA to present their solution on stage at Dreamforce, the second largest tech conference in the world. Rachel will continue her passion for tech by pursuing a career within the Salesforce ecosystem. Paige Seiser is a senior marketing major focusing on integrated marketing communications from Waukee, IA. Princeton Smith is a senior from Berkeley, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Advanced Marketing Analytics. Princeton will be graduating in the spring of 2020. His involvement on campus includes being an ambassador to the College of Business, Pay-It-Forward, the social media team, and the Pi Beta chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. In his time in the College of Business, he has served in roles as Digital Marketing Coordinator, Event planner, and social media committee member. In his fraternity he has served primarily as the Keeper of Records and Seal. Princeton has volunteered at many places throughout his time as at ISU, including the local boys and girls club and elementary schools. He is very excited for his post-life graduation and has recently accepted a role in Sunwire Group as a client representative for several dozens of fortune 500 companies.
Steven Smith is a senior from Downers Grove, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Advanced Marketing Analytics and minoring in German. Steven will be graduating in May 2020. Steven’s campus activities include his involvement with Pi Sigma Epsilon, Beta Gamma Sigma, Business Week, and Innovation Consulting Community. Within Pi Sigma Epsilon, he served as a Prospective Member Trainer, Alumni Relations Officer, and was the 2019 President. Steven has been involved with Business Week since he was a Sophomore. He has served as a Mentee and then as a Mentor for two years. Steven has volunteered at many places throughout his time at ISU, including The Midwest Food Bank, St. Jude’s, and The Baby Fold. His honors include multiple semesters on The Dean’s List. Steven plans in the near future to attend Florida State University to get his Master of Science in Business Analytics. Sammie Spencer is a Senior from LeRoy, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications. Sammie is preparing to graduate in May 2020. Her campus activities include involvement with Alpha Omicron Pi where she served as Marketing Chairman and Apparel Chairman for two terms. Through her involvement with Alpha Omicron Pi, Sammie has contributed over 80 hours of community service to organizations such as the Arthritis Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Breast Cancer Awareness. Additionally, Sammie is involved in Beta Gamma Sigma – an academic honor society for students in the top ten percent of their class in the College of Business. Outside of her campus activities, Sammie has over two years of marketing work experience including internships at Wendell Walton Clothing Company, CIT Trucks, and COUNTRY Financial. Sammie’s honors include being a Bone Scholar Nominee and maintaining a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Jada Turner is a junior from Peoria, IL, majoring in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising. Sh will graduate in May 2021. Jada’s campus activities include her involvement with the Student Government Association, the Emerging Leaders Program, and the College of Business Marketing team. Within the Student Government Association, she is the current Vice President and will serve as the Student Trustee next school year. Jada has been involved with the Emerging Leaders program since she was a freshman. She served as a Mentee, a Mentor, and currently as the Program Coordinator. Jada has volunteered at many places throughout her time at ISU, including The Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning. Jada has recently created an event called the Career Closet to help students on campus receive free professional business clothing to prepare for job interviews, internships, or any other professional outing. All the clothes collected were through donations and were given to students in the Spring 2020 Semester. Michael Wang is a senior from Lisle IL, majoring in Marketing with sequences in Advanced Marketing Analytics and Integrated Marketing Communications
as well as a minor in Organizational Leadership. Michael is set to graduate in May of 2020. On campus, Michael is involved with Delta Sigma Pi, the College of Business Executive Council, Business Week, and the College of Business social media team. In Delta Sigma Pi, Michael has held the position of Vice President of Marketing and Historian. In COBEC, Michael currently serves as the Vice President. In Business Week, Michael has served as a Mentor in the Mentor-Mentee Program. Some achievements that Michael has had include being a part of the Honors Program, 6 semesters on the Dean’s List, and a nomination for the Bone Student Scholarship. Michael is very excited for his life post-graduation where he will be working in Chicago, IL. Brianna Wilkens is a Junior from Schaumburg, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales. She will be graduating in May of 2021. Bri’s campus activities include her extensive involvement with the Professional Business Fraternity, Pi Sigma Epsilon. She served as the Recruitment Director as well as the Vice President of Professional Development in 2019. For 2020, Bri is serving as the chapter President. Bri was also involved in this year’s Business Week as Mentor. Her other activities include playing on the women’s club lacrosse team as well as practicing her love for sales by working as an Account Executive at the university newspaper, The Vidette. She is honored to be selected as the recipient of the William and Nancy Yarger Student Professional Development Award as well as the Professional Sales Student Scholar.
Professional Sales Institute Awardees •
Mary Kate Bihary is a junior from Sterling Heights, Michigan, majoring in Marketing, with a sequence of Professional Sales. She will be graduating in May 2021. Mary Kate’s involvements with the school include being a part of the Division 1 athletics program as a gymnast. This includes practices, lifts, study hours, competitions, etc. on top of her regular school work. She has been on the team from 2017-present. Mary Kate has volunteered at many places while being on this team, such as the Redbird Fan Fair, Bird Bash, reading to students at Fox Creek Elementary school, working the Illinois State Men’s Basketball games, etc. Her honors include being on the honor roll for multiple semesters. Mary Kate is excited for pursuing an internship this summer of 2020 with United Shore, one of the top mortgage lending companies in the country, and to see where sales education takes her post-graduation. Mary Casey is a junior from Chicago, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales. Mary will be graduating in May 2021. Mary works on campus as a Facility Assistant at the Campus Recreation Center. Her favorite thing about having an on-campus job is the opportunities to meet new people, engage with students on a daily basis, and contribute to the welcoming
environment that Illinois State University stands for. Mary is very honored and excited to have been selected as a Professional Sales Student Scholar, and looks forward to building her professional background in preparation for life post-graduation. Regan Cossey is a senior from Cary, Illinois, graduating in May 2020 that is majoring in Marketing – Professional Sales. Regan’s campus activities include his involvement in his Fraternity, Sigma Pi. During his time in Sigma Pi, he held positions as the Vice-President of Recruitment as well as the Vice-President of Social Affairs. He was also the President of Club Tennis from Spring 2017 until Spring 2020. During his time with Campus Recreation he became a member of the Sport Club Executive Board, where he held positions for two terms, one as the Vice President and another as the President. While serving on this board he was able to aid Sport Clubs by amending policies for the betterment of the community while allocating University funding to each of the 32 Sport Clubs recognized by Campus Recreation. Regan enjoyed his time at Illinois State University immensely and is extremely grateful to be recognized by the College of Business for this award. Shannon Donaldson is a junior at Illinois State University from Crystal Lake, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales as well as a minor in Communication Studies. Shannon’s extracurricular activities include her involvement on the Business Week Team as well as Illinois State University’s chapter of the American Marketing Association. While on the Business Week Team, Shannon had served as a Corporate Social Responsibility Coordinator. While in the American Marketing Association, Shannon has served as a Mentor, Director of Advertising and Promotion, and, most recently, Director of Mentorship. As of November 2019, Shannon has been an inducted member within The National Society of Leadership and Success. Aside from her studies and involvement, Shannon enjoys spending time with loved ones, being outdoors, bettering her health and fitness, as well as reading a good book. Shannon excitedly awaits her senior year as well as graduating in May of 2021. Ben Dorchinecz is a senior from Taylorville, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales. Ben is graduating in May 2020. His campus activities include his involvement with Sales Excellence Academy, as well as being a proud alumnus of the social fraternity, Alpha Gamma Rho. Within the Sales Excellence Academy, Ben participated on the Executive Board, serving as the Vice President of Events. He has engaged in numerous volunteer activities through Alpha Gamma Rho, most prominently fundraising for donations to be made to St. Jude’s. Ben has also volunteered at the Midwest Food Bank in Bloomington. His honors include being a 2019-2020 Enterprise Rent-ACar Sales Scholar and the 2018-2019 Fastenal Outstanding Junior Sales Student, as well as being mentioned on the Dean’s List. Ben is very excited for his post-graduation future, where he will move to Dallas, TX to work as a Sales
Executive for Fisher Investments, one of the largest independent wealth management firms in the country. Jake Engen is a junior from Cary, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales. Jake will be graduating in December 2022. Jake’s campus activities include his involvement with Tau Sigma. Jake is a transfer student completed two years of community college at Harper College. During his time at Harper College, he worked at Verizon for two years enhancing his sales skills and his resume. Jake also enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard in 2016 after graduating high school. There, he learned valuable leadership and critical thinking skills. Jake will be deployed from June 2020 to June 2021. After his return, he will complete his bachelor’s degree and will pursue his master’s degree at Illinois State University. Connor Hoegger is a senior from Heyworth, IL, majoring in Marketing with a Professional Sales sequence. Connor is preparing to graduate in May 2020. Connor is involved in a number of registered student organizations such as Delta Sigma Pi, where he was the Vice President of Chapter Operations. In addition, he was the Golf Outing Coordinator for Business Week 2019 and the Mentor Program Coordinator for Business Week 2020. He also serves on the events committee for the Sales Excellence Academy. Off campus, Connor works part-time for Young America Realty as a licensed Leasing Agent in the Student Division. Upon graduation, Connor plans on finding a job within the sales industry, hopefully dealing with account management. Connor’s honors include his selection as a 2019-2020 Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation Professional Sales Scholar and the Alumni Scholarship provided by The Professional Sales Institute as well as Outstanding Academic Performance Senior Sales Student Award. Matthew Howlett is currently a sophomore at Illinois State University from Elmhurst, Illinois, majoring in Marketing under the Professional Sales sequence. Matthew is anticipating on graduating in May of 2022. He has been involved in campus activities including involvement with the Men’s Club Volleyball team throughout the 2018-19 school year as well as the current 2019-20 school year. His most proud and recent involvement at Illinois State was his induction as a member of Beta Gamma Sigma. He has been fortunate enough to be selected for the Freshman Sales Leader in Training award during the 2018-19 school year as well as this years Sophomore Sales Leader in Training Award. As well as those two awards, Matthew has also been on the deans list for the fall 2018 semester as well as the spring 2019 semester. Kendall Hudson is a senior from Elgin, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales. Kendall will be graduating in May 2020. Kendall’s campus activities include her involvement with the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and the Sales Excellence Academy. Kendall has been involved with
Gamma Phi Beta since her Freshman year and spent many hours doing volunteer work for their philanthropy, Girls on the Run. Within Kendall’s experience through the sales program, she won the Internal Sales Competition in Fall 2019. She also competed in the International Collegiate Sales Competition in Orlando, FL in November of 2019. Illinois State University placed 8th out of 81 other schools during the competition. Kendall also spent her Senior year being an Ambassador for the Professional Sales Institute building relationships with multiple companies for the sales program. She is very excited for her life post-graduation, where she will work in the Professional Development Program for Creeden, a nationwide sales leader. Jordan Maher is a senior from Woodhull, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Integrated Marketing Communications and Professional Sales. Jordan will be graduating in December 2020. On campus, Jordan is a student worker in the advising office at the College of Business. Working there Jordan can point students in the right direction when they are in need of assistance. Jordan is also on the Illinois State University Sales Team. She placed first runner up in the Redbirds Internal Sales Competition, and her team ranked 5th out of 20 universities in the Redbird National Sales Competition. Jordan also competed in the National Collegiate Sales Competition and placed in the top 16 out of 135 students. Her team placed 9th out of the 70 talented schools they competed against. Jordan is very excited to further and wrap up her education with her last semester in the fall of 2020. Cody Matthis is a senior from Bloomington, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales and a minor in Organizational Leadership. Cody will be graduating in May 2020. Cody’s campus activities include his involvement with Pi Sigma Epsilon and the Sales Excellence Academy, where he served as the senior officer of events for the past year. He has also been involved in Business Week serving as a mentor to underclassmen and is currently a teacher’s assistant for Professor Rick Wills. His honors include Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation Sales Scholar, All-Around Junior Sales Student Award and the Outstanding Sales Intern Award. He is very excited for his life post-graduation, where he will work as a Client Solutions Executive for AT&T, the world’s largest telecommunication company. Kemar Miller is a junior marketing major with sequences in advanced marketing analytics and professional sales. He is from Round Lake, IL, and plans to graduate in May 2021. Kemar is involved with American Marketing Association. Reagan Orzech is a junior from Somonauk, IL, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales and a minor in Organizational Leadership. Reagan will be graduating in May 2021. On-campus, Reagan is involved with Women in Business, the Illinois State Human Resources Department, and
Business Week. Within Women in Business, Reagan was the Project Coordinator for the first annual Women in Business Shark Tank Challenge. Currently, she serves as the Vice President of Development for the 2019-2020 Executive Board. Participating as a Mentee for the 2020 Business Week and working as a Benefits Student Employee, Reagan has grown professionally as a Redbird. Through her organizations, Reagan has volunteered at The Midwest Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and Girls on the Run of Central Illinois. Her honors include multiple semesters on The Dean’s List, a 2020 Bone Student Scholar Nominee, and being ranked 5th out of 79 interns for the Chicagoland Area Intern Sales Competition at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Ashley Osterhage is an incoming freshman from Waterloo, IL. Ashley will major in Professional Sales and minor in Financial Planning. She is expecting to graduate in May 2024. During her high school career, Ashley was involved in the golf and tennis programs. She was part of the International club, Critique club, National Honor Society, Stomp Out Suicide club, and the Students for Life club. She volunteers her time at the local nursing home and helps with events that raise funds for her high school. She volunteered at The Backyard daycare for three weeks. Ashley is very excited to begin her college career at Illinois State University in the coming months. She plans to get involved in campus life by joining the Students for Life club, intramural tennis and a sorority. Tori Poska is a freshman at Illinois State University from Lockport, IL. She is majoring in Marketing with a sequence in Professional Sales. She will graduate with her bachelor’s in May of 2023. On campus Tori is very involved in Best Buddies and holds a position on the junior board. Volunteering has also been a big part of Tori’s life from feeding the homeless at MorningStar Mission to helping with Easter events put on by the Cross of Glory Church in her hometown. Tori achieved a GPA of 4.0 her first semester in college and qualified for the Honors Program here at Illinois State University. Tori loves meeting new people as well as taking on new challenges. She is very excited for her next three years at Illinois State University and will continue to strive in her studying and networking as she gains experience for the future. Maxwell Quinn is a senior from Saint Charles, IL, majoring in Marketing in the Professional Sales Sequence and minoring in Organizational Leadership. He will be graduating in May of 2020. Max’s campus activities include his involvement with Phi Beta Lambda and being a Student Ambassador for the Professional Sales Institute. Within Phi Beta Lambda he has held various leadership roles including Director of Recruitment and he currently holds the position of Vice President of Internal Affairs. Becoming involved with the Professional Sales Institute in Spring of 2019, Max has now competed in various sales competitions across the country. Proudly representing the Redbirds, Max and the sales team placed 8th at the International Collegiate Sales Competition in the Fall of 2019. Continuing his involvement, he proceeded to help coach and
mentor this spring’s competitors. Additional honors include being a Dean’s List recipient for multiple semesters. While the future remains uncertain, Max looks forward to a career in outside sales. Anna Schlotterback is from Oswego, IL, majoring in Marketing with a focus in Professional Sales and graduating in May 2020. Anna is an Account Manager for the Sales Excellence Academy, Co-President of Business Association, and members of Women in Business and Student Alumni Council. Anna is also a student ambassador for the Professional Sales department and works part time in the sales lab. Anna had the opportunity to compete in Fall 2019 Great Northwoods Warm-Up competition along with ICSC. Anna has been a very active member in the sales department and is extremely proud to have accepted a full-time position with Saint Gobain this upcoming June. Joelene Sinkler is a freshman from Mukwonago, WI, majoring in Marketing with a sequence in professional sales. Joelene’s campus involvements include her sorority, Delta Zeta. She plans to run for chapter treasurer next fall. Joelene works part time at Ulta Beauty while she attends school and is a manager/ waitress at a restaurant in her hometown over the summer. Joelene’s dream job would be a real estate broker and sell homes in a large city. Her honors include her first semester on the Dean’s List, and she has high hopes of being on it every semester. Joelene looks forward to her remaining time at Illinois State University. Trevor Smith is a Senior from Cary, Illinois studying Risk Management and Insurance with an emphasis in Professional Sales. Throughout his four years at Illinois State, Trevor has been involved in Delta Sigma Pi, the Sales Excellence Academy, and Gamma Iota Sigma. Within Delta Sigma Pi, Trevor has held the position of Vice President of Professionalism for the past two semesters, having the responsibility of planning and executing the professional events of the chapter. Within the Sales Excellence Academy, Trevor held the position of partner relations, in charge of finding new company sponsorship opportunities for the SEA and retaining relationships with current partners. Trevor was previously awarded the Chicago RIMS Chapter Scholarship as well as last year’s PLR Scholarship. He will be starting full-time in August at the Commercial Insurance Broker, Gallagher, as an Associate Producer within the Public/ Non-Profit Sector. Marissa Spooner is a junior from Mundelein, Illinois, pursuing a degree in Marketing with a concentration in Professional Sales. Marissa plans to graduate in May 2021. Marissa currently holds the position of Coaching and Competitions for the student run organization Sales Excellence Academy. Marissa is heavily involved in the Professional Sales Institute at ISU. Outside of the student organization and her schoolwork, Marissa spends her time as a Student Marketeer for Red Bull and is a waitress at Pub II. She is very excited to see what senior year and post-graduation has to hold.
Nicole Wiencek is a senior from Plainfield, IL, majoring in Marketing with sequences in Professional Sales and Integrated Marketing Communications. Nicole will be graduating in May 2020. Nicole’s campus activates include Epsilon Sigma Alpha, Women in Business, and University Program Board. Within Epsilon Sigma Alpha she was able to do community service and raise money for their three philanthropies: St. Jude’s Research Hospital, Hope for Heroes, and Easter Seals. Being involved in Women in Business gave her professional tips for the workplace. University Program Board give her the opportunity to work closely with the marketing department and the graphics team to show the more creative side of marketing.
