This is the seventh year we offer you the 13-Moon Dairy. The content and layout is evolving every year. Since last year it is split in two parts: 1. The 13-Moon Diary data, in English. 2. A separate 13-Moon Short Guide in English and Dutch. With this separate Short Guide we hope to diminish the waste of paper and ink and we wish to offer anyone to read the explanation in their own language. The booklet fits nicely in the pocket in the back of this 13-Moon Diary. With an elastic band around the 13-Moon Diary it should be kept in its place; And it can be used for several years, so next year you only have to buy a new 13-Moon Diary. Introduction

The 13-Moon Calendar The 13-Moon Calendar is a calendar based on the sacred Mayan Tzolkin calendar of 260 days. In this Tzolkin calendar each of these 260 days has a specific energy attached to it. Each day has its own ‘face’, its identity or character, which influences its events, a person’s luck at the moment, or even his fate. For example a Dragon day is a good day to initiate projects and start things. A Mirrors day tempts you to see through the illusions and seek the truth. Also each Moon/month has its own energy, function and totem animal. Visionary José Argüelles translated this calendar to a worldwide usable 13 Moon, or Dreamspell Calendar. This calendar helps us to align ourselves again with the natural cycles of nature and time. In these hectic and stressful times this ancient calendar can be a useful tool in guiding our day to day living in a fun and productive way. Even more, the 13-Moon Calendar enables one to heal the past and positively influence the future. 13 Moons, 28 days “PAN is predicated on the use of a 13 month 28 day calendar as a uniform and perpetual standard of measure. The end of the cycle of 13 baktuns indicates the impetus to remember our prehistoric origins and regain our intuitive understanding of nature. Despite being a perfectly sound mathematical tool, the 13 Moon 28 day calendar is virtually absent from the history books. It seems only to appear at the aboriginal edges of our collective consciousness. For example, although a form of the 13 Moon 28 day count was likely the earliest solar calendar of Mesoamerica (Edmonson, 1988 pag.111), it was, unlike the linear long-count of history, not overtly inscribed on the stone monuments of the classic period. However, the Indigenous Maya Elders have revealed that there is to this day a 13 month 28 day calendar (called the Tzotz Tun, or ‘bat cycle’) still being used in “a very secret way” (Yaxkin, 1988). It is an enigma that despite its obvious utility our species has scarcely left behind any concrete record of the 13:28 cycle. One rare exception is found on pages 23 & 24 of the Paris Codex. This is doubly an anomaly because, unlike other Mayan almanacs which, as in our own writing style, consistently progress from left to right, the almanac of Paris 23-24 progresses from right to left (Bricker & Bricker, 1992 pag.150). That is, the 13 Moon 28 day count runs counter to the linear flow of history.” This, we conclude, is why it has been ‘kept secret’, lost in the Dreamtime, until the close of the 13th baktun when, as the advance of global civilization reaches its decadent apex, like a survival-instinct the memory returns. “The 13-Moon Calendar is without a history. It does not drag a past forward, but brings the Galactic order into focus, in the now” (13 Moons in Motion, 1992 pag.24).

Gather yourselves!  Banish the word struggle from your attitude and your vocabulary.  All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

This Year

2012, The year of the Prophecy And now the time has come! Only a few months away from the famous date 21-12-2012. Many of us have been looking forward so much to this moment, wondering how it is going to be, and now it is reality. How things are today will not be very different from how it will be a few months from now. But still, the changes that have started to take place since 2011 are immense. People are gathering together in their fights for freedom, the economical crisis shows us the insane impurities of our financial system and the euro crisis makes us wonder what Europe actually is. What next? 21 December 2012 is the date currently known as the date that the ‘long count’ of the Mayan Calendar finishes, the count that started on the 12th of August 3114 BC and ends on 21 December 2012. I am quite astonished that there still are people who have never heard of this date, not even from the apocalyptic movies and predictions. The contemporary Mayans themselves have actually always denied this date. According to them it is about an end-period, and the exact date has been lost because of the major book burning and vandalism by the Spaniards when they conquered Mexico. According to the Mayans the end of the calendar signifies the end of an era. Around 2012 we will be entering a new era. From the perspective of the 13 Moon Calendar I prefer to see it in 2013, because this contains the two magical numbers from which the calendar as well as the cosmos are built, the 20 and the 13. This would supposedly signify the end of the world as we know it. A world that puts an end to the duality that has dominated our lives for so long. Old structures will first have to be broken down before new ones can arise. In 2011 a lot of things have happened. It will be known as the uprising of the Arab world (Tunisia and Egypt). And of course the tsunami that followed the earthquake in Japan on 11 March 2011, when great waves flooded large parts of the country and swept away everything. Our whole financial system has begun to get out of balance. The euro turned out to be weaker than we had hoped. Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy and even France do not seem to be able to stand their ground. There is a shift taking place and people are not looking to other people or a guru anymore for leadership, but inside themselves. Yvonne Versteeg leadership coach from Space for Heroes remarks: “Occupy shows extraordinary images: no central, hierarchic leadership, but the ones who want to do the talking do the talking, interconnected by involvement and social media. There are many issues but no solutions…(yet). We share with each other the care for the system, but we do not yet share an unequivocal solution with each other. Perhaps that is just the first step: share where we stand, confident that when this is done authentically, listening to each other, beyond downloading what we already know, initiatives will appear that will guide us towards something that we are 15

The 13-Moon Calendar

The 260-day Tzolkin calendar was a gift of the prophetic Maya to the people of today. It is a tool to synchronize to the changing energies and transformation of 2012.
