Decant on Wakefield to open Winemaker’s Lounge In February 2018, The Leader profiled Decant Urban Winery at 948 Wakefield Dr., which intends to import grapes from various winegrowing regions around the world and ferment them onsite. Customers could then directly sample and buy the wine. Now Decant’s owners say they will open their Winemaker’s Lounge space Feb. 6. The lounge will be a smaller space which will hold about 15 people, while their larger space is under construction. New York-based Madison Realty Capital provided the loan to Houston-based AMD Global and Med Center Developers, which in a joint venture acquired the 191,676 square-foot medical

Several Hogg wrestlers took home high individual honors, highlighted by eighth grader Joseph Roman. He was the state champion in the 120-pound weight class and
was named Boys Outstanding Wrestler. Fellow eighth graders Adrian Lopez placed second in the 120-pound class, while Ben Brown was runner-up in the 132-pound category and Gabriel Lopez placed third in the 126-pound group. In girls competition, Hogg eighth grader Roxy Gonzales placed second in the 113-pound class. Sixth grader Maia Santos was fourth in the 89-pound class.

With a minimum $35 donation throughout the entire month of February, customers will receive two free oil changes on one car, good through the rest of the year.
Master Car Care continuing to change oil and lives in Houston “It’s just a godsend that Child Advocates happened to be giving a presentation that night,” Rusk said, calling those children the neediest of all of us. “It’s like the Almighty was just saying ‘this is from me’.” During the first year, $750 worth of donations came in. The next year, about $1,500. And so it went, with donations continuing to double for years on end. Twenty-eight years after its inception, Rusk said the community has continued to embrace the cause, and the program remains stronger than ever after raising $26,000 through donations last year. “My philosophy is that when you do good things, the angels will reward you,” he said. “We feel extremely gratified at the success the program’s had in our shops, and we’re going to keep on doing it.” To schedule an appointment with Master Car Care, call 713-862-6630, visit mas-

As he has now done each February for nearly three decades, Master Car Care and RMS Auto Care owner Byron Rusk has an offer on the table for any residents in need of an oil change. Should they donate at least $35 to Child Advocates at either of his auto shop locations throughout the month of February, residents will receive two free oil changes for one car, good through the rest of 2019. Rusk said the annual fundraiser presents a win-win situation for all parties involved. “It was just so perfect. What I wanted to do was find something that would be good for the customers, for whatever charity we chose, and for the
business,” he said of the decision to partner with Child Advocates nearly 30 years ago after hearing their presentation at his church’s men’s group. Rusk’s auto repair businesses have been donating to Child Advocates through the program, coined Car Pros for Kids, for the last 27 years. Throughout the month of February each year, his shops join others across Houston in raising money through the program, and have continued to raise thousands each year for the non-profit organization which assists children who have become victims of abuse.
