Hello Volunteers!
Happy Springtime, volunteers - make sure you go out and enjoy the beautiful sunny weather when we have it! As some of you may already know, we held our annual Egg-Stravaganza this past month. Even with the rainy weather, our volunteers and staff banded together to bring this event indoors into the McCambridge Recreation Center and made it a huge success. That one sentence sums up how impactful our volunteers are, and while we here at BVP always have an overwhelming proudness for our volunteers , this month in particular is as important as ever to show it. April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we want to make sure all our volunteers understand how instrumental they are to our program. Our program started out as RSVP, the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program, but as the interest and need grew, we decided to branch into the Burbank Volunteer Program, or as we’re known now, BVP. The overwhelming demand from people of all ages to help and give back to their community is outstanding, and we are more than honored to be a program that allows community members to give back. With a multitude of active volunteer stations, we have something for everyone! Students may need to fulfill hours for a school requirement or they may explore volunteering as a fulfilling experience. Adults and retirees may choose to continue to use their skills and experience to help others. A positive by-product of volunteering is making new friends!
