Our team is passionate about contributing to local communities, as well as rolling up their sleeves to get behind a range of regional and national initiatives across both Australia and New Zealand.
We are all proud to play a small part in making our communities a better place to live. Each year this translates into tens of thousands of activities, events and much needed fundraising activities that often fills in the gaps not covered by other community or government initiatives.
Overall, these efforts helped contribute more than $67 million to our communities in the 2024/2025 financial year.
Central to this were funds raised at our iconic Bunnings sausage sizzles, which we know is such an important part of our customers weekend visits, with over 36,000 of these held across Australia and New Zealand in the last 12 months.
Nationally, we were once again proud to support FightMND, selling more than
60,000 Beanies across our Australian stores, as well as assisting Share the Dignity with the collection of over 88,000 bags.
In New Zealand, we backed grassroots rugby by collectively supporting local clubs across Aotearoa with $300,000 worth of products and materials to help improve their facilities. We also supported the I Got Your Back Pack initiative, Movember and Garden to Table.
Of course, these are just a glimpse of the many ways our team worked in partnership with the community, suppliers and our customers.
Thank you to our team, suppliers, customers and community organisations. We’re proud of what we were able to achieve together and look forward to continuing our support in the year ahead.
Mike Schneider Managing Director

For the eighth consecutive year, Bunnings proudly partnered with Share the Dignity to support the annual It’s in the Bag campaign—an initiative that calls on Australians to donate bags filled with essential items for women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence or extreme poverty. Thanks to the generosity of communities across the country, over 88,000 bags were collected at Bunnings stores and we helped Share the Dignity reach their target of collecting one million bags since the charity began.
Each year, our team proudly stands behind the FightMND Big Freeze campaign, and 2025 was no exception. From selling Beanies, Buckets and Pet Toys to firing up the BBQ for a nationwide sausage sizzle, our team members came together to help raise funds for vital research and treatment development in the fight against motor neurone disease. Thanks to the incredible support of our communities, we raised and contributed $2.3 million.

Bunnings teamed up with social impact workwear brand TradeMutt to release a co-branded range of merchandise – work shirts and water bottles - designed to spark conversations about mental health across the trade community. Thanks to community support, over $690,000 was raised and donated to TIACS, a free counselling service helping tradies’ connect with professional mental health support when they need it most.
Furthering our support for men’s mental health, in New Zealand, Bunnings Trade partnered with Movember, selling a co-branded water bottle and hosting a trade BBQ to raise awareness for mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer. All funds raised went directly to Movember.

When communities in North and Far North Queensland and New South Wales were impacted by cyclones and floods, Bunnings was ready to fundraise and support the local community. Our Australian teams got behind the BBQ, hosting a national sausage sizzle, raising and contributing over $285,000 for GIVIT, who provide essential items for immediate relief, products to aid in the clean-up effort, and goods for families returning to their homes.
In addition, in response to the devastating floods and drought conditions that affected communities
across NSW and VIC, Bunnings also donated $175,000 to help with recovery efforts.
$100,000 went to Rural Aid, which provides a range of services to support farming and rural communities before, during and after natural disasters, with the drought conditions having a considerable impact in regional VIC and SA.
An additional $75,000 was donated to GIVIT, to help with relief efforts following floods in NSW.
At Bunnings, we believe the heart of footy beats beyond the oval – it lives in the communities that gather, cheer, and fire up the BBQ. Bunnings launched Legend of the Tongs to celebrate the volunteers raising funds and spirits every weekend. During the AFL season, Bunnings has been rewarding these local legends with prizes worthy of their legendary contributions!
When St John Ambulance embarked on a drive-a-thon aiming to teach 5,000 Australians how to save a life and deliver Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to regional communities, Bunnings was happy to host community lifesaving CPR skills events at 30 of our stores on their 16,000km journey.

Our ‘Stores for Paws’ campaign saw Bunnings stores across Australia welcome local animal rescue and welfare groups in-store to help find loving homes for rescue pets and raise much needed funds. Incredibly, 3,000 adoption enquiries were made nationwide and more than $270,000 was raised in support of local animal rescue and welfare groups across the country.
For six years, Bunnings has partnered with community groups and local police for Crime Prevention Week, offering tips and tricks to keep homes and vehicles safe. Our teams always find creative and meaningful ways for community connection on this important matter, hosting a range of activities including Coffee with a Cop, advice on fitting anti-theft screws and trade BBQs with tips on keeping worksites secure.

At Bunnings, sustainability isn’t just a goal - it’s part of how we show up in our communities every day. We’re working to reduce emissions across our operations, support circular solutions for packaging and products, and help our customers and team make lower-impact choices. We’re excited to share how we’ve put that into action this year.

In January 2025, Bunnings reached a major milestone – our entire network in Australia and New Zealand is now powered by 100% renewable electricity from solar, wind, and hydro sources. This is a key step in our journey to net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. Over the past year, we’ve reduced our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50.2%. Our rooftop solar network continues to grow, now spanning 184 sites with 45.4 megawatts of capacity. And, we continue to design our new stores with energy efficiency front of mind, featuring improved insulation, improved heating, ventilation and cooling systems, and LED lighting.
1,000+ tonnes of batteries collected for recycling since the program launched
1,000 tonnes of batteries recycled!
Since 2021, our Bunnings team, community and customers have dropped off over 1,000 tonnes of household and power tool batteries for recycling, through our in-store drop off program. That’s the equivalent of around 41 million AA batteries! Taking steps to a more sustainable future, our program safely disposes batteries for recycling, helps recover valuable materials and contributes to a more circular solution.

This year, we began the transition to a lower-emissions fleet, with the first delivery of electric vehicles (EV) and home charging infrastructure for our team on the road. To help customers charge up while they shop, we expanded our existing network of EV charging stations with 12 additional 120kW fast charging stations. That brings our total to 19 charging stations available across selected New South Wales, Victoria, Western Australia, and New Zealand stores. We also now offer home EV chargers and accessories for sale at selected stores, making it even easier for customers to make the choice to go electric.
In 2025, we continued to work with suppliers to make packaging more sustainable - reducing the amount of packaging used, minimising difficult-to-recycle materials and making recovery easier. We also added the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) to over 1,800 more of our own-brand products, helping customers recycle correctly.

We have expanded our timber pallet recycling program, with over 260 stores now taking part. Where plain pine pallets can’t be reused, we’re giving them a second life as a useful product our customers can purchase in store – garden mulch! It’s another way we aim to support circular solutions and reduce waste.
Ensuring that our timber comes from responsibly managed forests is important to us and we know it matters to our community too. This commitment is reflected in our Responsible Timber Sourcing Policy, which has evolved to drive better practices, and requires that all timber from natural forests comes from sources that are certified by independent third-party schemes, such as the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) or Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). We continue to partner with our suppliers to improve sourcing practices and use tools like our timber survey to ensure we know the origins of the timber and fibre in our products.

In April, our VIC and TAS stores hosted statewide BBQs to raise funds for the Good Friday Appeal. Together with donations from hot drinks sold in our cafes, and supplier event fundraising, $225,000 was raised and contributed. Funds raised will support the Royal Children’s Hospital so they can continue to deliver world class care for patients and their families.
The Horsham Warehouse team visited their local primary school, installing a sensory and relaxation space featuring a vertical garden. The students helped with the planting after doing a store tour the day prior and learning what would work best for their garden. The result? A beautiful, studentled garden that offers a peaceful retreat and supports wellbeing across the school community.
When Matt’s Place, a vital community hub in Chelsea offering home-cooked meals and connection for those facing hardship or isolation, needed a refresh, the centre received a boost from the Bunnings team. Bunnings Mornington, Cranbourne, and Keysborough joined forces with six local high schools to transform the space over three days.

At the Sandro Demaio Foundation’s Little Food Festival in Melbourne’s Fed Square, our team helped the younger generation explore where their food comes from. Getting hands on, more than 3,000 kids got to plant and take home lettuce, silverbeet and edible violas. Our team loved sharing plant-care tips and ideas for turning future harvests into delicious meals.
When the Yarrawonga SES approached our Yarrawonga store for help building a boat-shaped sandpit, the team saw an opportunity to turn the request into something even more meaningful—a handson teen skills project. With teenagers from both the SES and Bunnings families involved, the project ran across school holidays, giving participants the chance to learn practical skills while working together to bring the sandpit to life. Demonstrating what can be achieved through community collaboration and youth empowerment, the initiative also led to the Yarrawonga SES winning this year’s Community Involvement State Award!
Ballarat Men’s Mental Health (BMMH) is committed to improving mental wellbeing and reducing suicide rates among men in the Ballarat region. Supporting a fundraising run, the Ballarat Warehouse team proudly supported the cause by hosting a community sausage sizzle — offering encouragement and connection (and sustenance!) to runners and locals united for this important cause.

With a shared goal to give back, Bunnings Yeppoon helped bring Milman State School’s vegetable garden to life, with its fresh produce destined for a free community pantry. Bunnings donated the plants and materials for the veggie garden and pantry, while the local Men’s Shed designed and built the pantry. Together, they’re creating a space where homegrown food will be shared freely with the whole community.
For over a decade, we’ve supported Get Ready Week activities in our Queensland stores to help communities prepare for natural disasters such as storms, cyclones and fires. Our teams provide in-store events to help raise awareness about natural disaster preparedness, as well as hosting some regional councils and local emergency services to help spread vital messages to keep communities safe. Kids also get involved, learning how to create emergency boards or wrist bands in our Kids D.I.Y. workshops.

Our Hamilton team had the privilege of building a wheelchairaccessible raised garden bed for the residents of Resthaven Community Trust. Along with the garden bed, the team donated a variety of vegetables, herbs, and fruit trees to create a vibrant, productive space. Designed to be inclusive, the garden encourages residents — including those living with dementia or limited mobility — to enjoy sensory stimulation, gentle exercise, and meaningful social interaction in a safe, accessible environment.
Bunnings team arrived at Forrest Hill Primary School in Auckland with a mission (and a truckload of bark) ready to dig in and make a difference. Bark was spread, weeds were pulled, a forgotten pond space was transformed, and the large Koru Garden, was filled with soil, ready for planting. Students joined in helping to assemble a new Buddy Bench. By the end of the day, the school grounds looked refreshed and community connections were reinforced.
