A HANDMADE CHRISTMAS: BÜRGENSTOCK RESORT LAKE LUCERNE UNVEILS ITS 2026 FESTIVE SEASON High above Lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock Resort celebrates craftsmanship and togetherness, from hands-on festive masterclasses and Swiss traditions to indulgent
dining, family moments and a glittering New Year’s Eve celebration. Bürgenstock, 6th October 2026 …// High above Lake Lucerne, Bürgenstock Resort welcomes the festive season with A Handmade Christmas – a celebration of craftsmanship, creativity and connection. Shining a spotlight on local artisans and the resort’s own talents, the campaign brings together hand-finished decorations, festive masterclasses and thoughtful gifts, creating meaningful encounters and moments that bring people together.
In a world that moves ever faster and feels increasingly digital, A Handmade Christmas celebrates the value of things made slowly, thoughtfully and by hand. From the Christmas tree taking centre
stage in the lobby to wreath-making, pottery and painting workshops, festive feasts and considered gifting, the 2026 programme is shaped around experiences that feel personal, memorable and made to be shared.
Throughout the season, the resort brings together Swiss traditions, culinary celebrations, restorative wellness, family experiences and a spectacular New Year’s Eve, all set high above Lake Lucerne on the Bürgenberg mountain.
Made by Hand Creativity sits at the heart of this year’s celebrations, with a series of festive masterclasses
encouraging guests to make something of their own to take home.
At the resort’s Spycher, guests can create a traditional Advent wreath over a glass of Champagne, paint a festive winter scene or try their hand at a pottery masterclass, complete with a personalised apron. Later in December, a guided torchlight hike leads towards the Hammetschwand Lift before returning to Taverne 1879 for Glühwein and roasted chestnuts, while a miniature Christmas tree workshop offers the chance to decorate a little piece of their Bürgenstock experience to take home. The handmade theme continues throughout a thoughtfully curated festive shopping experience, from beautifully wrapped gifts at the SkyBoutique, with a dedicated gift-wrapping service, to beauty products at the Alpine Spa Boutique, tailored suits at SAM Tailor and luxurious cashmere pieces from Pinotti.
Christmas at the Table Festive dining will bring together the resort’s diverse culinary personalities.
On Christmas Eve, guests can choose between a four-course dinner at Oak Grill & Pool Patio, where seasonal ingredients are cooked over flame, or Verbena by Christian Scharrer, with an elegant menu rooted in the chef’s signature approach to refined comfort food.
On Christmas Day, Salle Palace hosts the resort’s celebratory Christmas Day brunch, with dishes including Marennes oysters, lobster cocktail, Eggs Benedict, beef Wellington and a lavish dessert buffet from Executive Pastry Chef Damián Carini, named GaultMillau Pâtissier of the Year 2024.
Throughout the season, guests can also settle into Restaurant Taverne for traditional Swiss fondue or pause at Lakeview Lounge & Bar for a festive Afternoon Tea in collaboration with Atkinsons, bringing an elegant moment of calm to the busiest days of December.
Time to Slow Down Beyond the celebrations, Bürgenstock Resort’s spas offer space to retreat and recharge.
At the Bürgenstock Alpine Spa, guests can restore their winter glow with the myBlend Restorative Glow Facial, while the Waldhotel Spa offers a Private Spa Suite for two, creating an intimate escape from the festive bustle.
Christmas Through a Child’s Eyes For younger guests, the festive season brings craft activities, outdoor adventures, Christmas films at the Bürgenstock Cinema and plenty of anticipation.
Between 1 and 25 December, children can post their wishes in the Bürgenstock Christmas post box for delivery to the North Pole. On 24 December, Santa arrives at the resort with gifts, homemade cookies, apple punch and mulled gin, creating a Christmas Eve moment for the whole family.
Families can make their stay even more effortless by arranging a Christmas tree or festive decorations in their room before arrival, allowing the celebrations to begin from the moment they check in. Younger guests can also enjoy extended Splash ‘n’ Flash hours, available in both the Alpine Spa and the Waldhotel Spa, with more time for family fun in the pool throughout the festive period.
Five Kitchens, One Countdown For New Year’s Eve, Bürgenstock Resort will see out 2026 with celebrations across the mountain. Guests can choose from distinctive dinners at Oak Grill, Spices Kitchen & Terrace, Verbena by Christian Scharrer, Parisa – Persian Cuisine and Restaurant Taverne, with menus ranging from contemporary Asian and Persian dining to Swiss Fondue Chinoise.
From 10pm, the celebrations come together in the Lakeview Ballroom, where a live band and DJ will take guests through to midnight against the backdrop of twinkling Lake Lucerne.
Festive Stays Guests can immerse themselves further in A Handmade Christmas through two specially curated festive stays, each designed to create memorable moments of connection throughout the season.
Legendary Christmas invites guests to settle into the magic of the season with a minimum twonight stay. A decorated in-suite Christmas tree and VIP welcome with champagne set the festive tone, while a private cinema matinee – complete with Christmas cookies, popcorn and hot chocolate, and a choice of festive film – creates an intimate seasonal moment. The stay also includes Bürgenstock breakfast, access to the Bürgenstock Alpine Spa, use of the Bürgenstock Funicular and MS Bürgenstock Catamaran, and early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability.
For those looking to experience the winter landscape beyond the resort, A Winter Getaway combines a minimum two-night stay with an immersive Swiss mountain experience. Guests are taken into the mountains by 4x4 or snowmobile, depending on snow conditions, before setting out on snowshoes through snow-covered forests and past rocky cliffs to a local farm. There, a warming
lunch is shared with the farmer and their family – a personal encounter that reflects the campaign’s focus on local craftsmanship, authentic experiences and bringing people together. The package also includes a decorated in-suite Christmas tree, festive welcome amenities with cookies and hot chocolate, Bürgenstock breakfast, Alpine Spa access, use of the Funicular and Catamaran, and early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability.
