Editorial No. 9: The Cultural Issue When it comes to the diversity of living organisms, there is likely no group as appreciative and enchanted by its breadth as Biologists. For many, the biodiversity of life is what initially lured them to the field as children. These experiences may range from being completely hypnotized by the vibrant colors of a tropical reef during a family aquarium trip to being disgusted yet ever-so-curious at the variegated growth on that half-eaten, fullyrotten sandwich you said you would finish a few weeks ago. That diversity brought with it an element of wonderment, surprise, and appreciation. It is this very sense of inspiration we wish to cultivate in our 9th Issue of the Telomere Times honoring culture and diversity.

To begin this edition, Metodi Georgiev shares with us a piece considering Executive Editor & the variation and progression of scientific knowledge temporally - all the Graphic Designer way back to the highly advanced Ancient Egyptians. In retroactive celebration of Black History Month, Sabine Khoury reminds us of the immense Zarin Arshy contributions of several prominent African American scientists whose names we ought to never forget. In the wonderful piece that follows, Héloïse Vuong updates us with a potential, new way of getting better quality sleep by simply varying our diets with more fibre. Next, Arun Dayanandan wittingly divulges his cultural experiences at the Banff Mountain Film Festival, a festival devoted to exhibiting films about mountain culture. And finally, Jana Hamdan informs of various aspects of Concordia’s Graduate Diploma Program in Biotechnology and Genomics, a rapidly expanding discipline within the diverse subfields of Biology, which you can Writers begin to pursue as well.
