Historian David Marshall describes him as “emerging from oblivion” to dominate his genre, admired for his mastery of perspective, harmonious colors, and animated figures. In 1704, Pellegrini Orlandi praised his “beautiful pictures full of architecture... lively movement and fine colors.”
