The Fall 2023 edition of Playback explores how artificial intelligence is already being used in the domestic screen sector and what unions are doing to advocate for fast regulation. The issue also looks at the impact of this year’s fall film festival circuit, with questions about how the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes in the U.S. will negatively or positively affect indies, and how documentaries are leveraging opportunities at the Toronto International Film Festival. We also pay tribute to William F. White International as it undergoes some significant changes in its 60th year, and induct TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey into the Playback Canadian Film and Television Hall of Fame.
