Monthly Newsletter Construction of The New Prep School Facility We are elated to announce work has began in the construction of our new preparatory school building at Kiserian campus. On Sunday 12th February our school principal broke ground on the new facility set to be completed in September 2023.
“We require from buildings two kinds of goodness: first, the doing their practical duty well: then that they be graceful and pleasing in doing it.” – John Ruskin The facility shall include multiple classrooms, Dining Hall, Library, Learning Support room, Multiple labs, Art Room, Staff Room, ICT center and school theatre. We want to thank our parents for their continued support and encouragement as we continue to offer the best care & education to our students.

Amazing World Scholars Performance We would like to congratulate the World Scholars teams from both Kiserian and Lavington campuses for their amazing performances at the 2023 World Scholars Cup Nairobi round. Brookhurst teams represented the school with pride and distinction as they garnered trophies and medals. The great haul of medals and trophies was led by our very own outstanding student Serena Mwangi. Serena was awarded the 1st Overall Scholar amongst
the 1,500 scholars who participated in the competition. She served as a guiding inspiration as Brookhurst's team placed 5th overall out of 500 teams which included top government & international schools in the East African region. We credit these wins to resilient students, dedicated teachers and supportive parents. We Are Brookhurst.

Brookhurst's focus on mental health Schools provide a great opportunity to promote mental health and emotional wellbeing prevent mental health problems and identify and support children who are experiencing emotional difficulties. At Brookhurst we focus ourselves in enhancing our students' overall wellbeing. The administration saw it fit to engage renowned certified psychologist Dr. Susan Gitau in enhancing our staff's approach to the mental well being of our students. The training provider by Dr. Gitau and her team allowed our staff to explore numerous issues. Staff noted that school experiences are vitally important in both children’s intellectual development and their psychological well-being, and evidence increasingly illuminates the close connection between emotional health and academic achievement; hence, schools enhance school achievement by attending to issues such as self-esteem and social well-being.
Teachers have a significant responsibility for educating their students, and teaching can be both rewarding and challenging at the same time. Learning about school mental health will help teachers and not just be one more thing to do. Brookhurst's approach to mental health meets its mental health policy. A proactive approach to ensure all students are shown love and inclusion. Nurturing their interests and creating a positive family based culture. Every member of staff will continue to engage in year long training on mental health. We also have a school counselor on our campuses to spearhead our efforts.
School Debates: Brookhurst International School Vs Kitengela International School On 3rd February, 2023, our students had a chance to take on Kitengela International School for debate with the following topics: 1. Parents should be punished for their children’s mistakes 2. .Closure
of
refugee
camps
will
ease
terrorism in Kenya 3. Parents should monitor their children’s activities on social media Our
debate
team
made
the
winning
arguments for topic 1 and 3. The team argued against the motion that parents should be punished for their children's mistakes. They grounded their arguments on the universal concept of individual responsibility. This served as a prelude to us winning the World scholars cup later in the month as our scholars
showcased
their
prowess
after
vigorous training sessions with our amazing team of teachers.
Career Guidance Session @ BIS Lavington "Don't limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe you can achieve."—Mary Kay Ash We were honored to have hosted representatives from Germany for a career guidance session at our school. They shared valuable information about various careers and studying abroad. Our students were inspired and were so engaged during their presentations.
BIS Lavington's First Science Fair Brookhurst Lavington's very 1st Science Fair held on 3rd February, 2023 was a great success. This year’s theme was ‘Scientific Innovation for the 21st Century’. Our students showcased projects in; Behavioral science Mathematics Biotechnology and Biochemistry Project Environmental Science Food science Physics and Engineering Computer Science
Swimming Gala @ Makini School Brookhurst Lavington's great performance at the developmental swimming gala was a testament to the team's preparation and dedication. Swimming is a life skill we inculcate in each of our students. Swimming Galas offers the opportunity for our students to showcase their swimming skills in the competitive races. We will be gunning for the top position in each category in the next few swimming galas this year.
