Letter from the Director Broadway Utica is not simply bringing Broadway to the Mohawk Valley. We are building community, creating opportunity, educating future generations, and investing in the cultural and economic vitality of our region. As I reflect on the 2025–2026 season, I am grateful for the patrons, sponsors, donors, volunteers, community partners, and staff who made this work possible. Together, we continue to make an impact both on and off the stage. This season, Broadway Utica welcomed two national touring productions, The Sound of Music and A Christmas Story, to Utica as official technical rehearsal and launch locations. For several weeks, hundreds of performers, musicians, crew members, designers, and production professionals called downtown Utica home while preparing these productions for audiences across North America. Collectively, these productions contributed more than $1 million in economic impact across the Mohawk Valley. Hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, local stagehands, and theatre professionals all played a role in supporting this work, demonstrating how strongly the arts contribute to our local economy. While Broadway Utica will not host a technical rehearsal production during the 2026–2027 season, we remain committed to pursuing these opportunities whenever possible. Every Broadway Utica ticket also supports the continued operation and preservation of The Stanley Theatre. Through facility fees, a portion of every ticket sold helps sustain the historic venue that serves as a cultural cornerstone for our region. Beyond the performances themselves, Broadway Utica remains committed to expanding access to the arts. Through Students on Broadway, thousands of students experienced
live theatre and arts programming this season, many for the first time. This year also marked the first Broadway student matinee in more than a decade with CLUE Live on Stage!, and more than 300 students attended Kinky Boots. Our partnership with Oneida County continued to grow through free student screenings of ELF at both The Stanley Theatre and Rome Capitol Theatre, ensuring that financial circumstances did not prevent children from experiencing the magic of live performance venues. Accessibility and inclusion also remained central to our mission. During Mrs. Doubtfire, Broadway Utica partnered with ARC Herkimer to help create a more welcoming theatre experience for individuals of all abilities. As we look ahead, we remain focused on growing educational opportunities, expanding community partnerships, developing new audiences, and ensuring that the arts remain accessible to everyone. Whether through Broadway productions, student programs, family events, community initiatives, or workforce opportunities, Broadway Utica will continue making the arts a meaningful part of life in the Mohawk Valley.
