Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987. Women’s History Month is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the often-overlooked contributions of women throughout the history of the United States. Women such as Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Hillary Clinton, and Michelle Obama all mark a timeline of historical milestones that go back to the infancy of our country. And yet, for most of us we don’t have to look any further than our family and friends to see the see the immediate impact of the women in our lives and our communities. In this year’s celebration the National Women’s Alliance has designated this year’s theme as “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope.” Since we are still in the midst of the pandemic this theme hit home as it directly reflects the ceaseless efforts of caregivers and frontline workers. I
am a member of the Quote of the Day book club, and we are currently reading, “The Wealth Choice: Success Secrets of Black Millionaires” by Dr. Dennis Kimbro. In the introduction, Dr. Kimbro wrote about a meeting he had with John H. Johnson, founder, and chief executive of Ebony Magazine. Mr. Johnson asked Dr. Kimbro, “Why aren’t you rich?” That question stuck with me. Why am I not rich? Where do I begin? I can look back at all the irresponsible choices I made, all the times I did not listen to the still small voice and at the choices I didn’t make and pick it all apart. I can probably write a novel on “What Not to Do: Learn from My Mistakes.” And I am sure people will read it. You know what, an idea is forming right now. Hmmmm, I’ll revisit this later.

First things first, “The show was FIRE!” I have been covering this event since its inception, and I am a witness that this was the best show yet! And over the past three years, this show has been committed to helping others to seek their fashion aspirations within a showcase and a professional environment.
