...words from the editor Hello and Happy Anniversary VIVYD Family!!! It is that time once again, IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY!!! Or rather the month in which we celebrate our first issue release. Let me tell you, it has been a crazy, wild, exciting, and sometimes disappointing road, but at the end of the day “We are still here,” and that by itself is the fuel in which to continue to fight the good fight. As in past Anniversary issues, I start off with like a state of union type announcement, and this year will be no different as I am happy to report the state of VIVYD is stronger than ever and we are steadily growing into new content and a more diverse product. This end-product diversity is going to be the way forward and open the doors to new forecasted and unseen projects on the horizon. Our method of delivery for these upcoming projects will be very similar to the way in which Marvel Studios releases their content. Our plan is to develop and release content in a staggered phase approach. These stages will be from what is going to be known as the “Book of VIVYD” and be divided into volumes. These volumes will allow VIVYD Magazine to become more purposeful in the way we market, produce, and release future undertakings. These volumes will additionally upgrade to next sequential volume every year to two years and will give you the reader the best interactive experience with VIVYD. So, what does this mean for you? In short it means that as we level up, so will your anticipation and your involvement with us as we continue to provide you with a quality product and platform. Some of the titles that you can expect to be released in the next month or so will be VIVYD 24/7 and VIVYD Sandy Bottoms. Both of these projects will feature submitted works as well editorial work from our amazing staff models and photographers. In closing, it is exciting times around the old VIVYD campfire, and we are looking forward to providing you with the best that we have to offer. Stay tuned for the latest announcements and the introduction of all of our latest content to be highlighted in Volume One from the Book of VIVYD.

VIVY It is a very common mistake, but Big Ben is actually not the name for the iconic Tower in London. Big Ben is actually the name for the clock in the Tower. Even locals nowadays refer to this place as the Big Ben tower. The tower is located in the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London. 2012 onward the object is named as Elizabeth Tower, but in the past, the tower was known as the Clock Tower. London is an important cultural and historical centre and museums could not have missed in this area. If you get to visit this wonderful city you would definitely lose a lot from your trip if you don’t stop by one of them. The British Museum, the National Gallery, the Imperial War Museum, the British Library and the Wallace Collection are just some of them.

reedom. I woke up one morning with this word on my mind. I was like that can be my theme for 2022. I dismissed it though. I felt like it was too simple a concept and how would I incorporate it into my life. Then I spent a good portion of my day cleaning out my emails. I deleted ones I didn’t care about and started to read ones from people I follow. I came across one particular email from Danielle Leslie, CEO of Culture Add Labs. The email contained results of a quiz I took back in October of last year. The quiz was in regards to determining your culture add. A culture add is described as what you bring to a company that is different, but positively contributes to its culture. Danielle is more focused on what you can positively deliver to the world and how she can help you create a course that will allow you to utilize your add and empower others. R.I.P. @blackownedeverything We are saddened to hear that André Leon Talley, the former creative director and American editor-at-large of Vogue, has died at age 73. A fashion icon and a staunch advocate for Black models, Talley’s impact on the world of fashion will never be forgotten. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends and may he rest in power.

VYD This month I wanted to write about something that is probably near and dear to a few couples out there. As we are all fully aware of, we are in a global pandemic. COVID -19 has had a hold over all of us for going on two years now. And while this is a very serious event, business closures and quarantine times have allowed some of us to connect in ways that we have not done so since before the invention of social media. We have all been forced to slow down a little and spend more time at home with our families and loved ones. Recently my girlfriend (or partner/significant other whichever term you prefer) were recently diagnosed with COVID -19. Seems like many couples have been going through this. And like most people of the world, we had two totally different outlooks on how to tackle our problem. My lady is more of glass half empty type, while I am a more glass half full person. This was no surprise, because we usually are on two opposite ends of the spectrum on most subjects, and why should this be any different. Even right now as I am writing this, being forced to be in the same room with each other and having to cooperate about noise levels as I complete this passage is a small challenge. Even though quarantine

sucks ass, I believe that this experience has brought us closer. It’s something about having to go through something negative, that requires patience and understanding that makes people fall in love with each other all over again. To be honest it was a little eye opening. Things that I forgot about this beautiful woman were now right in front of me once again. Lying in bed, binging on old and new TV or preparing hot cups of tea and Theraflu has brought back a level of care that we have not seen since the early days. And although I am not a doctor or scientist, nor would ever devalue anyone’s experience during this global event, I will say for us it allowed us to get an opportunity to get to know each other again and spend some true quality time. What’s the lesson here? You would think it would be obvious. Don’t let a world changing event be the reason why you rediscover the things that make you special to each other, but if it does come to that make sure that you take just a little time and truly remember the beauty of being in love and appreciate the time that you have. Hope that this finds you all safe and in love with each other.
