A LOVE NOTE: FROM YOUR WIFE
A million times I’ve needed you, a million times I’ve cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place, no one else can ever fill.
It broke my heart to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. Part of me went with you when God took you home.
The tears I shed are true to thee. One day together in Heaven we will be.
I thank God for blessing me with my soulmate of 32 years. I am forever grateful for our special union and all the things we did as a team to support one another’s professional and educational endeavors and the strong foundation we built for our girls as we often reflected on this quote:
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.”
—PELE’
You’re my best friend, biggest supporter, comforter, and mentor. Thank you for always being there for me to offer a kind word of encouragement, smile and hug (in good and bad times) to assure me that “I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of convenience and comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
— DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.
WILLIAM HENRY DAVIS, JR. “ BOOGIE ”
HUSBAND • FATHER • SON • BROTHER • UNCLE • NEPHEW • COUSIN • FRIEND
William Henry Davis, Jr., affectionately known as “Boogie” to family and friends, was born on August 18, 1968, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, at the United States Army Hospital, to the nurturing embrace of his parents (William Henry Davis, Sr. and Rebecca Ann Davis). His parents bestowed the importance of education, caring for others, and treating individuals as you would like to be treated. He departed his earthly life for eternal rest in peace with the Lord on January 14, 2025.
William attended elementary, middle, and high schools and participated in various sports while residing on several military bases in the United States and Germany. When he lived on the Fort George G. Meade Army Base in Maryland, he met his lifelong friends (who he considered brothers— Darryl Keeton, Daryl “Biddy” Pratt, and Chris Brown). After graduating from Meade High School in 1986, he attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) and attained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1992.
William met his soulmate (Leisa Lofton) at UMES. They were married in 1995, and from this union, welcomed two beautiful daughters (Taiylor Davis in 1995 and Brittany Davis in 1999). As parents, they pledged to help their daughters achieve home ownership once they graduated from college and established their careers. Through God’s grace, prayers, and disciplined saving plans, their promise was fulfilled in 2021 and 2023.
William and Leisa’s favorite quote was, “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and, most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” —Pelé. In 2004, William furthered his education by attaining a Master’s Degree in Computer Security Management from Strayer University. He successfully completed various professional Information
Technology Certifications throughout his career. His daughters were very inspired by their father’s success and decided to follow in his footsteps with their educational endeavors by acquiring a Computer Science Degree and pursuing professional careers in Information Technology. Since 1999, William held several positions as a Federal Government Contractor (Help Desk, Software Support Engineer, Systems Administrator, Network Tools Engineer, and Chief Engineer) for various companies including but not limited to: L&E Associates, ANSER, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and Peraton. Due to his professionalism, technical expertise, excellent customer service, and attainment of Information Technology Certifications, he acquired special acknowledgments and awards.
In addition to pursuing excellence in his educational and professional endeavors, he also strived for excellence in his personal life (including his love for football). He was a big Washington Commanders fan who stood by his team through their highs and lows, dedicated his man cave décor specifically to them, and included various players from other teams on his fantasy football team (including, ironically, the Dallas Cowboy kicker). We often joked about his fantasy football team picks, and he studied the stats to get ready for each game (in hopes of weekly wins). One of his friends recently blessed him with tickets to attend the Washington Commanders/Tennessee Titans game (with seats on the 50-yard line), and it was simply amazing because the Washington Commanders won the game!
He loved 70’s Oldies, 80’s Pop, R&B, 90’s Hip Hop and Jazz Music and would sing the songs during Karaoke battles. As a young teen, while traveling to Harlem, New York, for the holidays with his family, he would sit in a backroom at his grandmother’s house to record all the latest music to share with his friends in Maryland.
Our beloved William “Boogie” was undoubtedly a gentle spirit. He always spoke well of others and had an amazing way of connecting with others to offer a kind word of encouragement, advice, and mentorship. Because of his love for God, family and friends, he had a remarkable compassionate spirit. He was the best husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin any family could hope for. Although we will deeply miss him, we will never forget him.
Left to cherish his memories are WIFE: Leisa Davis; DAUGHTERS: Taiylor Davis and Brittany Davis; FATHER: William Henry Davis, Sr.; MOTHER: Rebecca Davis; BROTHER: Jeffrey Davis (Queenita Penn-Davis); SISTER: Nicole M. Cheek (James Cheek); IN-LAWS: Tony Powell and Linda Powell; SISTERS-IN-LAW: Nia Powell, Nicole Powell (Stacy Lovely), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and friends.

A LOVE NOTE: FROM YOUR DAUGHTERS
I thank God for blessing me with an amazing father. You instilled great values in my sister and I. You taught us how to be self-sufficient, mindful, and resilient. For that, we will forever be grateful. It is now that we have to walk this earth and remember all the advice, encouragement, and grace that we have learned from you over the years. You will forever live in our hearts.
Love, Taiylor
Words cannot fully capture the depth of the bond we shared over the past 25 years. You stood by my side through every challenge, no matter the distance, offering unwavering support for every decision I made. For that, I am eternally grateful. Though God was ready to welcome you home, my heart wasn’t ready to let you go. Even in your absence, I find comfort in knowing that your spirit remains with me, watching over and guiding me as you always have. You will forever hold a special place in my heart and I will cherish the love and memories we shared for the rest of my life. Thank you for everything.
With all my love,
Brittany
A LOVE NOTE: from your family
We did not know the day God would call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. We will remember the beautiful memories we had with you.
Although you’re gone, we feel your presence in everything we do.
Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will relink again.
Love, Mom, Dad, Nicole & Jeff
LOVED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM
Revered by all who cared. He embraced his job as husband and father, inspiring other men who dared.
As a son, he dutifully loved his mom and dad. As a brother, he gave his siblings all the love he had.
As a loving father, his precious daughters were his entire world. His impact and legacy will forever be unfurled.
His Leisa, his beautiful Leisa, was the absolute love of his life. His best friend, confidant, lover, his dutiful wife.
Life will never ever be the same. Boogie, we will forever speak your name.
The overwhelming sadness of losing you is devastating at best. Our Lord loves you more and called you home to rest.
So, to our loving family, whenever it is you see a beautiful flower, the sunshine, a butterfly, it is our Beloved Boogie.
Boogie left behind such a phenomenal legacy of love. Now he is home with our Lord, in sweet Heaven, high above.
So, to my Beloved Family, I just want to say, we are all here with you—a mere phone call away.
Love, NAASIRA ABDUR RAZZAQ “AUNT JACKIE”
