A Message from our Director of Sport: I have been really excited to see so many of our pupils out at Failand, participating in sport each weekend since the start of the new academic year. At BGS, we believe strongly in the power of values-driven sport and to reflect this, we are introducing Players of the Week, an opportunity to celebrate pupils who demonstrate one or more of our BGS sporting values: kindness, integrity, rigour, teamwork and respect. We want to recognise pupils who demonstrate these values across all aspects of school sport, whether that is during a sports fixture, PE lesson or Games session. A Player of the Week might be someone who demonstrates exemplary teamwork, includes and supports others, shows kindness and respect, acts with integrity, or challenges themselves and demonstrates rigour and determination in their approach. Each week, these players will be celebrated during form time with their peers and their achievement will be shared with the wider staff body in our weekly staff meeting, allowing colleagues across the school to recognise these pupils who are living out our values through sport.

Match Day Medical Procedure In the event of an injury to a player, parents, supporters and visitors should not enter the playing arena unless invited to do so by the member of staff or match officials. If a player sustains a serious injury, they should be assessed by themedical team. This will be the emergency first aider on/by the pitch, then by the Bristol Physio in attendance if requested via radio. Bristol Physio teams will be located on all areas of Failand and there are medical facilities in both the Pople Pavilion and the ‘Rifle Range’ in the Beggar Bush Lane parking area; the player should be accompanied to the closest one. In the event of an emergency and pitch side treatment is necessary staff will radio for the Bristol Physio and SLT member in attendance using the relevant code for assistance. If a player requires hospital treatment, an ambulance should be called. Players must be accompanied to hospital by a member of staff or parent/carer.
