Co-Curricular Activities Prep School


Introduction The Co-Curricular Activity programme is designed to enhance and complement our curriculum. CCAs are offered from 3-4pm every school day (except Friday) by all our teachers and support staff. We offer a broad range of activities including creative, active, mindful and cerebral. Other activities will be introduced according to pupil demand. Pupils will have the opportunities to experience different activities throughout the year but, once they have signed up to an activity, they are expected to honour that commitment until the end of term when they will be offered new activities the following term. An extra cost will apply for CCAs which use an external provider/trainer, e.g. Public Speaking & Competitive Debate, Chess and Hip Hop Dance .

Selection Understanding CCA Designations At Brighton College Vietnam, Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are grouped into four main categories to help students and parents choose activities that best suit their interests and goals:

C – Creative

Focuses on artistic expression and imagination.

Examples: Art and Design, Drama, Music Ensembles, creative thought Purpose: Nurtures creativity, self-expression, and appreciation of the arts.

A – Activity

Physical or skill-based activities promoting fitness and teamwork.

Examples: Sports Teams, Dance, Outdoor Adventure Purpose: Encourages healthy lifestyles, resilience, and collaboration.


S – Service

Emphasizes community engagement and social responsibility.

Examples: Charity Clubs, Environmental Action Groups, Peer Mentoring Purpose: Develops empathy, leadership, and global citizenship.

Aca – Academic

Extends learning beyond the classroom and fosters intellectual curiosity.

Examples: EAL, Mandarin, Y11 Subject Clinics & Homework clubs Purpose: Deepens subject knowledge, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

CAS and the IB Programme CAS stands for Creativity, Activity, Service, and it is a core component of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme.

Creativity: Arts and creative thinking experiences. Activity: Physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle. Service: Voluntary exchange that benefits others and the community.


Special Designations To help parents and students understand access and costs, some CCAs carry additional markers: Invite-only: Certain CCAs are reserved for students who meet specific criteria (e.g., skill level, team selection, auditions). These activities require an invitation from the school or CCA leader.

Some CCAs involve additional costs for materials, coaching, or external providers. These will be clearly marked with a v symbol in the CCA list. Fees can be found in the CCA description and communication surrounding payment will take place after confirmation of the CCA place. Year group indications:

Monday Activities Hip Hop Dance (Y3-6)

Step into the world of rhythm, creativity, and self-expression with our Hip Hop Dance CCA! This activity introduces pupils to the fundamentals of hip hop dance, including basic moves, grooves, and freestyle techniques. Through fun and energetic sessions, pupils will develop coordination, musicality, and confidence while exploring the cultural roots of hip hop. The focus is on teamwork, creativity, and building a positive attitude toward physical activity and performance. Outcomes: Perform a basic hip hop routine; show rhythm and coordination; create simple freestyle moves Build confidence; collaborate in group choreography; demonstrate perseverance

Roller Skating (Y1, 2, 3) **Roller Skates/blades/helmets and knee and elbow pads required for participation * Get ready to roll! This CCA introduces children to the basics of roller skating in a safe and fun environment. pupils will practise how to balance, glide, and stop while building confidence and coordination. Activities focus on enjoyment, safety, and teamwork as children develop new skills at their own pace. Outcomes: Learn how to put on skates and move safely Practice balancing, gliding, and stopping Improve coordination and confidence on skates Work together and support friends during activities Show a positive attitude and have fun while learning


Monday Activities Badminton (Y4-6) This co-curricular activity is designed for pupils who have shown interest or potential in racquet sports and are invited to further develop their badminton skills in a more focused setting. The programme provides a supportive yet structured environment where pupils can refine their techniques, build consistency, and grow in confidence through guided practice and gameplay. Outcomes: Learn and apply key badminton techniques such as serving, smashing, and footwork. Improve agility, coordination, and reaction time through structured practice. Demonstrate respect, discipline, and sportsmanship during training and play. Develop confidence and a deeper appreciation for racquet sports

Tag Rugby (Y5-8) A chance to learn the basic skills of this exciting and fast-paced team sport. With no tackling involved, Tag Rugby focuses on running, passing, evasion and teamwork in a safe and enjoyable environment. Pupils will develop their skills through fun games, challenges and small-sided matches while building confidence and teamwork. Outcomes: Develop core Tag Rugby skills, including passing, catching and spatial awareness. Improve agility, speed, coordination and overall fitness. Understand the basic rules, positions and strategies of the game. Learn how to work effectively as part of a team and communicate positively with others. Demonstrate respect, sportsmanship and resilience during training and matches. Whether you are new to rugby or already enjoy team sports, this CCA provides a fun and inclusive opportunity to stay active, make friends and enjoy the excitement of the game.


Monday Activities Water Confidence (Y1-3) This club is designed to help our young swimmers to develop their confidence in the water and slowly improve their strokes. Outcomes: Build confidence in the water. Practise floating and basic swimming strokes. Enjoy safe, supervised water activities.

Academic BRAIN GYM: Master Your Mind (Y4, 5, 6) Do you often find yourself easily distracted, losing track of time, or struggling to get started on tasks? Welcome to Brain Gym! This CCA is a high-energy, interactive playground designed to supercharge your focus, memory, and brainpower through fun, science-backed challenges. Outcomes - Focus & Attention Hacks: Play cognitive games, strategy puzzles, and simulation exercises designed to stretch your attention span. - Executive Function Workouts: Learn dynamic ways to plan projects, manage time without stress, and organize your daily life. - Brain Hacks for Learning: Discover how your brain processes information and try out creative memory-boosting techniques. - ...and various hands-on mental workouts, brain teasers, and collaborative strategy games! Outcomes: Sharper Focus & Attention: Develop the ability to stay on-task, filter distractions, and extend attention span through cognitive games and focus-based challenges. Stronger Executive Function: Learn practical strategies to plan effectively, manage time with less stress, and organise daily tasks with confidence. Monday Academic Timetables (Y4, 5, 6) Boost your number confidence and master your multiplication facts in a fun and engaging way! Through games, challenges, and team activities, you'll sharpen your times table skills and become a multiplication whiz. Perfect for anyone who wants to improve speed, accuracy, and have fun with maths "Feel great about numbers – You’ll grow more confident using numbers every day." Outcomes: Know your times tables – Learn all your multiplication facts up to 12 × 12. Get faster and more accurate – Beat the clock and answer correctly! Play and learn together – Show your skills in fun games and team challenges. Enjoy maths – Discover how exciting and fun multiplication can be!"

Native Vietnamese (Y1) Part of the Y1 Vietnamese curriculum, this CCA is compulsory for all Native Vietnamese speakers in Y1

EAL Support (Y1-2) This club helps Lower Prep pupils develop English language skills in a fun and friendly setting. Through songs, stories, games, and simple activities, children will practice speaking, listening, and understanding English. The focus is on building vocabulary, confidence, and enjoyment while supporting success in class. Outcomes: Practice English speaking and listening through games and songs Learn new words and simple sentences Build confidence using English in everyday situations Enjoy stories and activities that support learning Develop skills for success in the classroom


Monday Creative Art Explorers (Y1, 2, 3) In Art Exploreres children will explore a range of different art styles and materials from around the world. Outcomes: Build confidence with new art styles and materials Show curiosity and willingness to experiment Take risks and try new ideas Learn from mistakes

Mixed Ensemble

♫ (Y4, 5, 6)

The Mixed Ensemble CCA is designed for pupils in Years 4–6 who already play an instrument at Grade 4 standard or above (or equivalent ability) and are ready to develop their musicianship through collaborative performance. Pupils will rehearse and perform as part of a small ensemble, exploring a range of musical styles while strengthening ensemble skills, listening, and musical expression. The programme emphasises teamwork, musical awareness, and performance confidence in a supportive yet challenging environment. Outcomes: Develop strong ensemble skills, including balance, timing, and cohesion, working towards live performance Enhance overall musicianship, including tone, rhythm, intonation, and expression Build active listening and musical awareness within a group setting Grow confidence and stage presence through performance opportunities Strengthen musical interpretation across a range of repertoire Foster teamwork, discipline, and commitment through regular rehearsals

Oracy Olympians Pupils will unleash their inner performer with Oracy Olympians. This CCA is a chance to dive into the world of drama through improvisation, script work, and performance skills— all whilst building confidence and creativity. Outcomes: Build confidence in speaking and performing. Explore drama through improvisation and scripts. Develop clear communication and presentation skills. Work towards the skills required for LAMDA.

Origami & Crafts (Y4, 5) In this club, pupils will be exposed to different hands-on activities. These activities will develop their creativity and will allow them to express their imagination. Outcomes To build on creative skills, to experiment with different materials, to become better at communicating their ideas in English and to gain confidence when folding, cutting, gluing and making.


Monday Creative Writing for pleasure (Y3-6) Come and join Writing for Pleasure, where stories, poems, and ideas come to life! This CCA is a relaxed space to explore imagination and enjoy creating different kinds of writing —from magical adventures and mysteries to comics, poems, and letters. There are no tests or pressure—just creativity, fun, and the joy of words. Outcomes: Through a variety of engaging prompts and activities, children will develop confidence in expressing their ideas, expand their vocabulary, and practise crafting sentences and short pieces of writing. The CCA supports key prep-school learning outcomes such as building creativity, strengthening communication skills, improving written expression, and developing confidence in sharing work with others.

Legoland (Y1-3) Legoland is a fun and interactive session offering pupils the freedom to create and design as a team. Building with Lego is a creative and fun activity which can also help to develop many other skills. Pupils will work cooperatively and collaboratively throughout the session developing their language and listening skills along the way. They will plan and make decisions about how to approach a task beforehand and show high levels of energy and fascination throughout each session. A lot of patience and concentration is required when planning and building a model - good problem-solving skills are required when things fall apart! Helping each other with ideas and suggestions (and with searching for missing bricks) is all part of being a member of this club. The club takes place in a relaxing yet stimulating environment and children are encouraged to express themselves and represent their own ideas through the use of design and play. Outcomes: Pupils will work cooperatively and collaboratively throughout the session developing their language and listening skills along the way. Monday Service Y6 Buddies Year 6 Buddies is all about leadership, kindness, and teamwork! In this CCA, pupils will take on the role of mentors for younger pupils, helping them during playtimes, reading sessions, and school activities. It’s a chance to develop responsibility, communication skills, and empathy while making a positive impact in the school community. Outcomes: Support younger pupils in play and learning activities Show leadership and responsibility in buddy roles Communicate clearly and kindly with peers and younger pupils Demonstrate empathy and teamwork Build confidence through helping others


Tuesday Activities Dance Sparks (Y4-6) Dance Sparks is an exciting and energetic dance club for students in Years 4 to 6. It provides a supportive environment where young dancers can learn modern dance moves, stay active, and build confidence. Through dancing to lively music, students are encouraged to express themselves creatively, develop their individuality, and form strong friendships. The club also offers opportunities to work collaboratively and enjoy the experience of performing together as a team. Outcomes: Develop dance skills by learning modern routines and techniques Improve physical fitness through active participation and movement Build confidence in expressing themselves through dance Enhance creativity by exploring personal style and musical expression Strengthen teamwork through group rehearsals and performances Form friendships and build positive social connections Gain performance experience and enjoy showcasing their progress as part of a team

Multi-Sports (Y1-3) This club is all about having fun and playing a wide variety of exciting and stimulating games in the playground. Outcomes: Play a variety of fun and active games. Build teamwork and sportsmanship. Improve overall fitness and coordination.

Pickleball Y4-6 If you enjoy playing Pickle ball or just want to find out how to play, then join this club to discover this new and exciting ball game. Outcomes: Improve fitness, agility, and coordination Learn rules, scoring, and basic strokes Develop teamwork and sportsmanship Build strategic thinking and game awareness Promote a healthy, active lifestyle Show responsibility and leadership in play


Tuesday Activities Shuttlecock kicking - Đá cầ u (Y4-6) This energetic and culturally rich club introduces pupils to Ðá cầu, a traditional Vietnamese sport that combines elements of football and badminton. Outcomes: Pupils will learn to kick a feathered shuttlecock using their feet, knees, and head, improving coordination, balance, and agility. It’s a fantastic way to stay active, build teamwork, and connect with Vietnamese heritage through play.

Yoga (Y1-3) This gentle and playful club introduces Lower Prep pupils to yoga through fun poses, story telling, breathing exercises, and relaxation games. Outcomes: Pupils will improve flexibility, balance, and focus while learning how to calm their minds and bodies. Each session is designed to be age-appropriate, helping children build confidence, coordination, and wellbeing in a supportive and joyful environment. Outcomes: "Practise simple yoga poses and breathing exercises. Improve flexibility, balance, and focus. Learn relaxation techniques for wellbeing."


Tuesday Academic Prep Native Speaker Chinese Club (For Native speakers only) (For native Mandarin speakers only) : Designed especially for fluent Mandarin speakers, this club helps enhance literacy and cultural appreciation through engaging activities like exploring idioms, storytelling, creative writing, and classic Chinese tales. Outcomes "Enhance Mandarin reading and writing skills. Explore idioms, stories, and cultural traditions. Develop creative expression in Chinese."


Tuesday Creative Beautiful Handwriting (Y4-6) The Handwriting Club helps Vietnamese pupils develop neat, legible handwriting while building concentration, patience, and confidence through engaging writing activities. Outcomes Use correct pencil grip and writing posture. Improve handwriting accuracy, neatness, and presentation. Develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Build focus, perseverance, and confidence in written work.

Brainbusters (Y2-4) In this club pupils will have fun completing puzzles and mazes and in so doing will improve their maths skills. Outcomes: "Strengthened problem-solving and critical thinking skills, improved mathematical reasoning and logical analysis, enhanced perseverance and resilience when tackling difficult problems Development of teamwork and communication skills through collaborative challenges Increased confidence in approaching unfamiliar or complex tasks.

Lego Club (Y5-6) A fun way to build team work and communicatio skills with Lego. Working in group, challenges will be set to create the most imaginitive Lego models. Outcomes: "Enhance teamwork and communication through group challenges. Develop creativity and problem-solving skills using Lego. Apply design thinking to create imaginative models. Build resilience and adaptability during collaborative tasks."


Tuesday Creative Free play Chess (Y4-6) Free Play Chess provides pupils with a welcoming space to enjoy chess with friends, practise their skills and challenge players of different abilities in a relaxed environment. Open to all experience levels, the club encourages independent play, strategic thinking and a love of the game without the structure of formal coaching. Pupils can play friendly matches, solve puzzles and learn from one another while developing confidence and good sportsmanship. Outcomes: "Practise chess rules and strategies. Improve problem-solving and logical thinking. Practise friendly matches to build confidence."

Chess Club (Y3-6)

PRICE: 13 sessions total = 2,340,000 VND introduces pupils to the exciting world of chess through engaging, age-appropriate lessons designed to develop concentration, logical thinking, creativity and problemsolving skills. The programme is delivered by experienced chess coaches and follows a structured curriculum tailored to pupils’ individual levels and abilities. During sessions, pupils will learn the rules of chess, piece movement, basic tactics, strategic thinking, sportsmanship and game analysis through a combination of instruction, puzzles, mini-games and friendly matches. Progress is monitored throughout the course, with regular feedback provided to support each child’s development. Regular opportunities for gameplay, challenges and friendly competition help pupils apply their learning and enjoy the game. Outcomes: Apply key chess principles and tactics; Demonstrate improved concentration and strategic thinking; Analyse simple positions and make informed decisions; Participate confidently in school tournaments and chess events; Progress through a structured learning pathway.


Tuesday Creative Playdough (Y1-3) The Play-Doh Club is a fun and creative space where Year 1 to 3 pupils can explore their imagination, develop fine motor skills, and bring colourful ideas to life. Each session offers themed activities that encourage pupils to shape, sculpt, and design using Play-Doh, from making mini characters and food models to building small worlds. Through hands-on play, pupils enhance their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while enjoying a relaxed, friendly environment. The club is perfect for those who love art, enjoy working with their hands, and want to share their creations with friends. No experience needed—just bring your ideas and a willingness to get a little messy! Outcomes: Each session offers themed activities that encourage pupils to shape, sculpt, and design using Play-Doh, from making mini characters and food models to building small worlds. Through hands-on play, pupils enhance their creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while enjoying a relaxed, friendly environment.

Puzzles (Y4-6) If you like solving puzzles then join this club and have fun putting the right pieces in the right places! Outcomes:"The Jigsaw Club provides pupils with opportunities to enhance their cognitive development through structured Puzzle-solving activities. Outcomes: The club aims to cultivate essential skills such as logical thinking, spatial reasoning, concentration, and perseverance. Members engage in individual and group tasks involving jigsaw puzzles of varying levels of difficulty, promoting collaboration, problem-solving, and attention to detail. In addition to supporting intellectual growth, the Jigsaw Club offers a calm and purposeful environment that encourages teamwork, patience, and a sense of achievement as pupils work together to complete shared objectives."

Reading For Pleasure (Y4-6) Pupils will explore a range of books through activities, discussions and independent and shared reading time. They will be encouraged to read for enjoyment and discover new authors and genres. Outcomes: Increased enthusiasm and confidence in reading, improved reading stamina, and broader exposure to different texts. Pupils will also develop social skills through discussing books with peers and build positive attitudes towards reading beyond the classroom.


Tuesday Creative Movie & Make (Y4-6) In Movie and Make, through film we will explore and experiment with a range of drawing materials and techniques. We will begin by watching a short film or part of a film followed by a drawing activity. It isn't about being the best at art, it is about doing something the pupils enjoy and learning new skills with their friends! It is designed to open the pupils' eyes to fresh possibilities in drawing through fun but challenging sessions in a supportive and sharing environment. Pupils are be encouraged to be bold, be confident and be flexible! As we move through the term students will grow more confident in not only their drawing skills but also their ability to follow directions. Outcomes: "Explore creative drawing techniques inspired by film. Develop observation skills to translate visual storytelling into art. Build confidence and adaptability in artistic tasks. Collaborate and share ideas in a supportive environment. Improve listening and execution through guided activities. Enjoy the process of creating art rather than striving for perfection."

Puzzles (Y1-2) This club will introduce pupils to the fun of solving a wide variety of puzzles. Pupils will be encouraged to bring in their own puzzles to challenge their friends.

Service/ Creative Baking/Cooking Club (Lower Prep) This CCA introduces younger pupils to the fun of baking and cooking through simple, hands-on activities. Children will learn basic skills like mixing, measuring, and decorating while exploring different tastes and textures. Sessions focus on creativity, safety, and enjoyment, helping pupils gain confidence in the kitchen. Outcomes: "Learn simple kitchen skills such as mixing and measuring Practice safe and hygienic habits while cooking Explore different ingredients and tastes Work together to create fun, easy recipes Build confidence and enjoy the process of making food"


Wednesday Activities Multi-Sports (Y1-3) This club is all about having fun and playing a wide variety of exciting and stimulating games in the playground. Outcomes: Play a variety of fun and active games. Build teamwork and sportsmanship. Improve overall fitness and coordination.

Boys Football Squad (Y5-6) (invite only) Team training sessions for selected prep school pupils, focusing on skill development, tactics, and match preparation for school fixtures. Players will work on ball control, passing, shooting, positioning, and teamwork, all while building match fitness and game awareness. Through drills, small-sided games, and competitive training, pupils will be prepared to represent the school and compete with confidence. Outcomes: Improve ball control, passing, and shooting. Learn tactics and teamwork for matches. Prepare for school fixtures with confidence."

Development Football (Y5-6) A fun and supportive environment for pupils to develop their football skills, confidence, and love of the game. Open to all, from complete beginners to those with match experience, sessions focus on dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork through exciting drills and small-sided games. Players will also learn about positioning, match play, and sportsmanship, while enjoying the camaraderie and spirit that make football the world’s most popular sport.


Wednesday Activities Hip Hop Dance (Y1-2)

Join the fun and energy of hip hop dance! In this paid CCA offered by our professional dance teacher, children will learn basic moves, explore rhythm, and express themselves through creative movement. Sessions focus on building confidence, coordination, and teamwork in a playful and supportive environment. Outcomes: ""Learn simple hip hop steps and short routines Move to the beat with improved rhythm and coordination Gain confidence and enjoy performing for others Work together in pairs or small groups Show a positive attitude and have fun while learning

Prep Swim Squad (invite only) If you enjoy swimming and would like to hone your fitness and technical skills then this is the club for you! *Must be able to swim 50m* Outcomes: "Improve swimming technique and fitness. Practise competitive strokes and drills. Build stamina for longer distances."


Wednesday Activities Roller Skating (Y4-6) *Roller Skates/blades, shoulder & Knee pads required for participation* Get ready to roll! This CCA introduces children to the basics of roller skating in a safe and fun environment. pupils will learn how to balance, glide, and stop while building confidence and coordination. Activities focus on enjoyment, safety, and teamwork as children develop new skills at their own pace. Outcomes: "Skate confidently with balance and control Practice smooth gliding, turning, and safe stopping Improve coordination, agility, and endurance Work collaboratively during group activities and games Show resilience and a positive attitude while learning new skills"

Playground Games Do you love playing games with your friends? Join Playground Games CCA and discover exciting traditional playground games such as Hopscotch, Duck Duck Goose, What’s the Time, Mr Wolf?, Stuck in the Mud, Four Square, and many more! Learn fun new ways to use playground equipment, challenge yourself with different games, and build your teamwork and leadership skills. As your confidence grows, you may even become a Playground Leader, teaching games to other pupils and helping to make playtimes fun and inclusive for everyone. Come ready to play, lead, and have fun! Outcomes Learn and play a variety of traditional playground games safely and confidently. Develop leadership skills by organising, explaining, and leading games for others. Demonstrate teamwork and sportsmanship by encouraging participation and including all players.


Wednesday Academic STEAM club (Y1-3) The Lower Prep STEAM Club gives children the opportunity to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics through fun, hands-on activities and challenges. Pupils develop their creativity, problem-solving skills and teamwork as they design, build, investigate and create. Outcomes: Developed creativity and problem-solving skills through designing, building and testing a range of STEAM projects. Improved teamwork and communication skills by working collaboratively to investigate ideas and complete challenges.

STEM Club (Y4-6) The STEM CCA inspires curiosity and creativity through hands-on projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Pupils will explore exciting concepts such as building simple machines, coding for robots, and conducting experiments and creating presentations, an extension of Perfect Presentations. Each session encourages problemsolving, teamwork, and innovation while making learning fun and practical. Outcomes: "Apply scientific and mathematical ideas in practical activities Build and test simple models or experiments Program robots Develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills Work collaboratively on STEM challenges Gain confidence in exploring technology and engineering concepts"

Mandarin for Beginners (Y4-6) This club is aimed at pupils who are complete beginners in Chinese but are keen to learn and develop their knowledge and vocabulary. Outcomes: "Learn basic Mandarin words and phrases. Practise speaking and listening skills. Explore Chinese culture through language."


Wednesday Creative Canva Whizz Kids (Y4-6) The Canva Whiz Kid club is a fun and creative group for young pupils to learn and master the basics of graphic design using the user-friendly Canva platform. Through hands-on projects, pupils will develop digital literacy skills and unleash their imagination to create stunning presentations, posters, and other visual content. Outcomes: "Learn the basics of digital design using Canva. Create posters, presentations, and visual content. Develop creativity and digital literacy."

Ceramics & DIY Club (Y4-6) Nurture creativity and fine motor skills through hands-on art and craft projects using clay and recycled materials. . Outcomes: Pupils will then produce and decorate their own unique ceramic or DIY products to take home or display.

Fine Motor Skills (Funky Fingers) (Y1-3) This fun and engaging club helps Lower Prep pupils develop their fine motor skills through creative, hands-on activities. From threading and cutting to building and crafting, each session is designed to strengthen finger muscles, improve coordination, and support early writing skills—all while having lots of fun! Outcomes: "Strengthen finger muscles for writing. Improve coordination through creative tasks. Enjoy hands-on activities like threading and cutting."

Role Play Club (Y1-3) Role Play Club provides pupils with a safe and creative space to explore imaginative play. Children engage in imaginative play such as playing house, dressing dolls, and caring for stuffed animals. Outcomes: The activities help develop social skills, communication, and creativity through cooperative role play.


Wednesday Creative Story Time (Y1-3) This is a club for pupils who love listening to stories read to them by our own librarian! Outcomes: "Enjoy listening to engaging stories read aloud. Develop listening skills and imagination. Explore new books and authors in a fun setting."

Lego Club (Y4) We build activities based on the school event that can help with the engagement at school and to spark creativity. A happy place where LEGO lovers can choose their topics to build upon, practice teamwork and self-work and enjoy their time after hard-working hours. Outcomes: Development of conflict resolution skills, collaboration, sharing and turntaking, creativity, team-work

Service BCVN Young Voices (invite only) PS This term, Brighton College Scholars from Years 6, 7 and 8 will work together in a collaborative programme designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity and confident communication. The students will explore key themes linked to the values of Brighton College, discussing important ideas and developing their perspectives as a group. Outcomes: Over the course of the term, they will prepare a TED style presentation which they will present, showcasing their thinking, teamwork and ability to present complex ideas in an engaging and thoughtful way.


Wednesday Service Garden Guardians (Y1-3) Garden Guardians is a nature-focused CCA that empowers pupils to care for and cultivate green spaces within the school community. Through hands-on gardening, eco-projects, and sustainability initiatives, pupils learn how to nurture plants, protect biodiversity, and become stewards of the environment. Outcomes: Plant and maintain flowers, herbs, and vegetables in designated areas. Design and decorate garden spaces to make them vibrant and welcoming. Learn about composting, recycling, and sustainable gardening practices. Create habitats for pollinators and local wildlife to support biodiversity. Develop leadership and collaboration skills through eco-projects.

Y6 Buddies (Wednesday) Year 6 Buddies is all about leadership, kindness, and teamwork! In this CCA, pupils will take on the role of mentors for younger pupils, helping them during playtimes, reading sessions, and school activities. It’s a chance to develop responsibility, communication skills, and empathy while making a positive impact in the school community. Outcomes "Support younger pupils in play and learning activities Show leadership and responsibility in buddy roles Communicate clearly and kindly with peers and younger pupils Demonstrate empathy and teamwork Build confidence through helping others"

Cooking Club (Upper Prep) In this club pupils will make a different recipe every week. They might decide on a theme, e.g. 'recipes from around the world' but they could also try no-bake recipes if they fancy! Outcomes: "Follow simple recipes and measure ingredients accurately Practice safe and hygienic kitchen habits Develop basic cooking and baking techniques Work collaboratively to prepare dishes Build confidence and creativity in food preparation"


Thursday Activities Athletics (Y5-6) To discover the foundation of all sport into specifics where you can thrive and explore where your interest lays. Athletics has it's 3 main components - runs (sprints & long distance), throws and jumps. As Athletics would be one of the sports in sports tours and if you would like to represent the school, do join. Not only do you need to discover your interest but if you would like to stay fit - Athletics will give you all components! Open to all. Outcomes: Develop basic skills in running, jumping, and throwing Improve fitness (speed, stamina, strength, agility) Explore interests to discover personal strengths in athletics Build confidence, resilience, and discipline

Recreational Swimming (Y4-5) Dive into fun with our Recreational Swimming CCA—perfect for confident swimmers who love the water! This relaxed, enjoyable session focuses on building stamina, improving technique, and developing water confidence through a mix of games, challenges, and free swim time. Whether you want to practise your strokes, try some fun relays, or simply enjoy being active in the pool, this is a great way to stay fit, have fun, and enjoy time with friends in a safe, supervised environment. Outcomes: "Improve swimming technique and stamina. Take part in fun water games and challenges. Stay active in a safe, supervised environment."

U11 Basketball (invite only ) Basketball CCA builds skills, fitness, and character through structured training and friendly competition. Outcomes: Pupils learn fundamentals—dribbling, passing, shooting, defense—while developing teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Sessions include drills, smallsided games, and match play. With pathways to school teams and inter-school leagues.


Thursday Activities Yoga (Y4-6) A club for working on a combination of dynamic poses, breathing techniques, mindfulness practices, and relaxation exercises. Pupils will develop flexibility, strength, balance, and focus while learning strategies to manage stress, improve wellbeing, and enhance self-awareness. Outcomes: Develop a range of yoga poses, breathing techniques, and mindfulness strategies to support physical and mental wellbeing

Academic Literacy & Numeracy (invite only) This extra-curricular activity provides pupils with additional support through the IDL Literacy and Numeracy by Strand programmes, designed to strengthen reading, spelling and mathematical understanding. Using a structured, multi‑sensory approach that combines sight, sound, touch and voice, pupils work through interactive tasks that develop key literacy and numeracy skills at their own pace. The programme supports learners who may require additional reinforcement and enables them to work independently while staff monitor progress and achievement. Outcomes: Improved confidence in core literacy and numeracy skills. Strengthened reading, spelling and mathematical understanding. Increased independence through self‑paced, interactive learning tasks. Regular monitored progress leading to measurable gains in attainment. Maths Club (Lower Prep) We are excited to offer a fun and engaging Lower Prep Maths Club this term. The club is designed to help children develop confidence and enjoyment in maths through hands-on activities, games, and problem-solving challenges. Outcomes: Practise counting, addition, and subtraction. Build confidence with number patterns and puzzles. Enjoy fun, hands-on maths activities.

Thursday Academic Native Vietnamese (Y2) Part of the Y2 Vietnamese curriculum, this CCA is compulsory for all Native Vietnamese speakers in Y2.

Creative Beading (Upper Prep) Mix, match, and sparkle! Pupils design their own necklaces, bracelets, and charms while building patience, focus, and a unique sense of style. Outcomes: "To develop pupils’ creativity, fine motor skills, patience, and attention to detail through designing and creating bead crafts."

Computer Basics (Lower Prep) This CCA introduces young learners to the world of computers in a fun and interactive way. Pupils will learn essential skills such as using a mouse and keyboard, opening programs, and understanding basic digital safety. Activities include simple typing games, creative tasks, and exploring age-appropriate software to build confidence and familiarity with technology. Outcomes: "Learn how to use a mouse and keyboard confidently Open and close programs and navigate simple menus Practice basic typing and improve hand-eye coordination Understand simple rules for staying safe online Build confidence using technology for learning and creativity"

Eco Crafts (Y1-3) This club is for pupils who love making fun objects using recycled materials. Outcomes: Use recycled and found materials to design and make creative projects. Plan ideas carefully by sketching and selecting suitable materials. Create designs using a range of tools and practical skills. Decorate and improve work to make it colourful and eye-catching. Talk about finished pieces, explaining what went well and how it could be improved next time. Explain why reusing materials matters and how it helps protect our planet.


Thursday Creative Fashion design (Y5-Y6) Pupils will get a chance to dive into fashion world, sketch designs accordingly to the school event or styles/countries, and then make their designs into real collection. Outcomes: "Get hand-on skills specialized in fashion industry: measuring, cutting the fabric, sketching, drawing Improve creativity and a sense of matching for different material, pattern and types of fabric, and focus. Have their own lookbook with their designs and details on, they can also edit the lookbook in their style."

Hama Beading (Y1-3) Join our Hama Beads CCA and create colourful designs using small beads. Children will develop their creativity, concentration and fine motor skills while making fun pictures, patterns and decorations to take home. Outcomes: Develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Improve concentration, patience and attention to detail. Explore creativity through designing and creating bead pictures and patterns. Follow instructions and create designs independently. Gain confidence by completing and sharing finished creations.


Thursday Creative Social Deduction Board Games (Y4-6) "Join us for a fun and exciting club where every game is a mystery to solve! Through social deduction games, pupils will work together, share ideas, ask thoughtful questions, and use clues to make decisions. Players will develop important skills such as communication, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and confidence in speaking and listening. Each session encourages children to think carefully, explain their reasoning, and consider different points of view in a supportive and friendly environment. Whether you're solving mysteries, spotting clues, or working with your team, every game is a chance to learn, laugh, and build valuable life skills." Outcomes: Develop effective communication skills by expressing ideas clearly and listening to others. Ukulele Club (Y5-6) Join the Ukulele Club and discover the joy of making music! This CCA introduces pupils to the basics of playing the ukulele, including strumming, chords, and simple songs. Pupils will develop rhythm, listening skills, and confidence while playing individually and as part of a group. This CCA is especially for those pupils in Y5 who have completed a term of Ukulele, or pupils with their own Ukulele. Outcomes: "Learn and refine basic ukulele skills: tuning, strumming patterns and simple chords Play short songs with confidence Develop rhythm and listening skills Work collaboratively in group performances Build confidence through music-making"


Thursday Creative Wellbeing Club (Y4-6) Connect, Recharge, and Thrive. Looking for a safe space to unwind, understand yourself better, and build life-long skills? This CCA is designed to support your mental wellness and personal growth through a variety of engaging, interactive activities. Outcomes: Enhanced Self-Awareness: A deeper understanding of your mind, emotions, and personal strengths. Practical Coping Tools: A personalized "toolkit" to handle daily academic and life stressors effectively. Stronger Connection Skills: Improved empathy and communication to foster positive, healthy relationships. A Supportive Community: A safe, non-judgmental space to share, listen, and grow alongside your peers

Creative/ Academic Draughts & Chess (Y1-3) Learn how to play draughts or work towards learning chess. Have fun playing matches against your friends! Outcomes: Learn draughts or chess rules and strategies. Improve logical thinking and concentration. Play friendly matches to practise skills.

This paid CCA, run by renowned debater Hyewon Rho’s Debate for All, helps pupils build confidence, critical thinking, and clear communication. Outcomes: Public Speaking & Debate introduces learners to essential skills through engaging tasks such as speech drills, understanding motions, defining terms, building arguments, and practising refutation. Pupils will also explore the World Schools Debating Championship format, including speaker roles and Points of Information, before applying their learning in mini debates on topics ranging from education to social issues and ethical dilemmas. Foundations JR (Y5–Y6) Designed for pupils new to parliamentary-style debating, this level supports them in forming logical arguments, responding to opposing points, and presenting ideas persuasively.

Thursday Service Animal Helpers (Y1-3) Animal Helpers is a compassionate and hands-on CCA for pupils who love animals and want to make a positive impact on their wellbeing. This club focuses on learning about animal care, welfare, and advocacy, while also supporting local shelters and rescue organizations. Outcomes: "Learn basic animal care and welfare principles. Gain awareness of local shelters and advocacy for animal wellbeing. Foster empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility. Practice teamwork and communication through animalrelated projects."

"Modelled off the Duke of Edinburgh award, the Junior Duke Award (https://juniorduke.com/) is an exciting challenge program that encourages independence, resilience, and life skills. Pupils complete a series of age-appropriate tasks such as cooking, first aid, navigation, and community service. This CCA supports pupils in working towards their Junior Duke certificates, helping them grow in confidence and responsibility while having fun and learning practical skills. Library Ambassador (Y4-6) Pupils will be library assistants and advocates for reading for pleasure across the school. They will assist in library tasks such as creating displays, selecting new books, brainstorming reading for pleasure activities and helping to make sure that the library service in the school is representing the needs of our school community. Outcomes: Help manage library displays and book selections. Promote reading for pleasure across the school. Support library activities and community engagement.
