TERM 3 | WEEK 31 | 22 MAY 2026

Dear Parents,
It has been another enjoyable and eventful week at Brighton, with a number of moments to celebrate across the College.
Thank you to those parents who attended the talks on Monday relating to Building Healthy Minds and Online Safety with the Breck Foundation. It was excellent to see such a strong turnout for these important sessions.
Our fabulous LAMDA pupils have also been delivering some wonderfully confident performances in front of very proud parents and teachers over the last couple of days. It has been fantastic to see the children perform with such enthusiasm, poise and expression.

There was also great excitement for some of our youngest pupils, as members of our Nursery and Reception classes visited The Kallang for a cycling course. What a brilliant opportunity for them, and my sincere thanks go to everyone involved in making this happen.
As we continue our planning for the next academic year, may I also take this opportunity to remind any families who have not yet signed contracts or paid the relevant fees to do so as soon as possible. The deadline for payment was 15 May, and class lists for next year are now in the process of being produced. Your prompt attention to this is therefore much appreciated.
Finally, please remember that school will only be open on Monday and Tuesday next week, before we close on Wednesday 27 May for Hari Raya Haji. School will then reopen on Tuesday 2 June, following the public and school holidays.
To all members of our community celebrating Hari Raya Haji, I wish you a very happy and peaceful celebration. I hope you enjoy this special time with family, friends and loved ones.
Best Wishes,
Nick Davies Head of College

Dear Brighton College Community,
It has been another sensational week at Brighton College (Singapore), defined by moments of quiet dedication and vibrant public performance. Seeing our pupils from our youngest explorers to our upper Prep swimmers embody our core values across so many different contexts is hugely rewarding and inspiring.
Friday Five: This Week’s Highlights:

1. The LAMDA Showcase: A massive well done to our fabulous LAMDA pupils! This week they have been delivering some amazingly confident performances in front of very proud parents and teachers. The sheer enthusiasm and self-assurance they brought to the stage was incredible. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our incredibly popular and successful LAMDA programme. It is a vital vehicle for fostering public speaking and personal confidence.
2. Celebrating “Achievement” in Junior Prep: Another major highlight was our Junior Prep Presentation Assembly. This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the excellent progress our younger pupils have been making. Focusing on Achievement - our Pelican Value for this half term - class teachers in Years 1, 2, and 3 spoke beautifully about the pupils who have really stood out through their hard work, growth, and dedication to their learning.
3. On Two Wheels at the National Stadium: A huge well done to our Nursery and Reception team, who took some of our youngest pupils to the National Stadium for an immersive cycling course! What a brilliant, active out-of-classroom opportunity for them to build their coordination and independence. Thank you to all the staff involved in coordinating such a memorable day out.
4. Pufflings: Our Pufflings group continues to be a phenomenal success, serving as an amazing gateway for families wishing to discover our magical Pre-Nursery offering. It provides a hands-on chance to see, feel, and hear the world-leading provision we offer at BCS at this critical stage of development. Seeing the growing numbers and the sheer joy on the faces of parents and children each week is wonderful. Please do share this opportunity with any friends or contacts with children aged 12 months to 3.5 years old. We love welcoming new families into our community for opportunities like these.
5. Swimming Success at Dover Court: On Monday, our Year 4 and 5 swim team took part in a friendly swim meet at Dover Court. It was a sensational opportunity for our swimmers to test their skills in a competitive yet supportive environment. They swam with incredible heart, pushing for personal bests and doing both themselves and the school proud. Well done to all of our athletes!
As we head into the weekend, and towards the end of this half term, we can reflect back on another hugely successful time where great progress has been made. Thank you for your continued partnership and for making our community so vibrant.
Warmly, Gavin Clark Head of Prep

If all parents / legal guardians are out of the country for up to seven days, an In Loco Parentis form needs to be completed. This will provide contact details for the designated guardian for that period of time. Forms can be found on the Parent Portal.

Some parents / legal guardians may work away from Singapore on a more permanent basis. If all legal guardians for a child are out of country for longer than 7 days, a guardian must be appointed to provide the necessary care of the child. There are two forms that need to be completed. One by the parent and one by the guardian. The forms can be found on the Parent Portal.
We ask that all parents / guardians keep the school updated with changes to phone numbers, addresses and email addresses. In the case of an emergency, the school needs this information to be up to date. All pupils need to have two emergency contacts. These points of contact must have Singaporean phone numbers. If your phone number or address changes, please do send an update to reception@brightoncollege.edu.sg
This is a gentle reminder to support the safety and wellbeing of all pupils, particularly those with severe allergies. We kindly ask that you do not pack any food or snacks containing nuts or nut-based products in your child’s snack/lunchbox. This includes items such as peanut butter, Nutella, biscuits and any products that may contain traces of nuts.

Should you plan on sending a birthday cake to celebrate your child’s special day, please be aware of the following requirements. All cakes brought into school must be:
• completely nut-free
• individually wrapped per portion
• accompanied by a full ingredients list, shared with the class teacher prior to the celebration
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
From Monday 8 June, all service in the Level Hall Dining Hall will be via the service kiosks using pupil ID cards. Pupils will no longer be able to give their names to our Sodexo colleagues at the counter for purchases to be charged to their pupil account.
The use of pupil ID cards ensures that pupils can only purchase items approved by their parents, up to the agreed budget limit on the card. It also helps to ensure smooth and efficient service at the counters.
Pupils should continue to use the service kiosks to select items and take the paper ticket to the Dining Hall counter to collect their items.
Thank you for supporting your children by ensuring they bring their pupil ID badge every day.
We are pleased to confirm that the Senior School Tour for parents of pupils in Year 3 to 6 will take place on Thursday, 4 June from 9.00 am to 10.30 am.
This guided tour offers families the opportunity to explore our Senior School campus, visit key learning spaces, and gain further insight into the academic pathways, co-curricular opportunities, and supportive environment that await pupils as they progress through Brighton College (Singapore).
Parents who would like to attend may register their interest in this link
We warmly invite all parents to our Junior Prep Art Exhibition, a celebration of creativity and imagination. Every pupil from Pre-Nursery to Year 4 has contributed artwork to this special event. The exhibition will open with a welcome and pupil-guided tour from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Parents are also welcome to visit at any time between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to explore the exhibition at their own pace. We look forward to sharing the wonderful artistic journey of our young learners with you.
ELV Swim Hub is excited to announce the registration opening for the Enrichment Swim Program for Term 3-2 (2 June - 25 June). We are offering swim lessons exclusively to Pre-Nursery to Year 2 pupils. Registration opens on 18 May. To express interest or make inquiries, please email us at swimhub.bcssg@cognita.com

This week, we were delighted to see our LAMDA learners from Year 2 to Year 10 take to the stage to showcase their performances. We enjoyed a wonderful variety of acts, all of which demonstrated the impressive confidence, creativity and ability of our pupils, as well as their passion and enthusiasm for the arts.
The LAMDA programme continues to provide an exceptional opportunity for children to grow not only as performers, but also as confident, curious and articulate individuals. Through developing communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking skills, pupils become adaptable and resilient learners who are able to express themselves with confidence in a wide range of settings. It is wonderful to see how the programme nurtures both a love of the arts and valuable lifelong skills that support success across all areas of learning.
We wish all of our performers the very best of luck as they continue their preparations for their examinations in June. Finally, a huge thank you to the LAMDA team for their hard work, encouragement and support in preparing our pupils so thoroughly.
- Ms. Snell (Teacher of Dance & Drama)

On Wednesday, our Nursery and Reception children had a fantastic time at the National Stadium taking part in an exciting cycling session with instructors from Saddlewerkz. The session began with an important safety briefing, where the children learnt how to stay safe while riding their bikes. Once everyone had their helmets on, the children were ready and excited to get started!
The children showed wonderful enthusiasm as they challenged themselves on either balance bikes or pedal bikes. It was fantastic to see their confidence grow throughout the session as they practised balancing, steering and pedalling. Some children even started on balance bikes and, by the end of the session, proudly progressed onto pedal bikes - a huge achievement!
Throughout the morning, the children demonstrated excellent perseverance as they kept trying, even when they found something difficult. They also showed great leadership, encouraging and supporting their friends and celebrating each other’s successes. There were many proud smiles as new skills were mastered and confidence continued to grow.
We all had a fantastic morning and would encourage the children to keep practising their cycling skills at home. Keep pedalling - we are very proud of you all!
- Ms. Smith (Nursery Puffins Teacher & Head of EYFS)

Following our recent online safety workshops delivered by Jemma Renshaw and the Breck Foundation, we are pleased to share some additional resources to support parents and carers in continuing these important conversations at home. On Tuesday 19 May, pupils also took part in an online safety session delivered by the Breck Foundation, a charity founded by Lorin LaFave in memory of her son, Breck, who tragically lost his life following online grooming through a gaming relationship. The session offered a powerful and practical opportunity for pupils to reflect on online relationships, digital resilience, grooming behaviours, and how to seek help if something does not feel right.
Online safety remains a growing concern. According to the NSPCC, there has been an 89% increase in online grooming crimes over the last six years, while ChildLight reports that more than 300 million children each year are victims of online sexual exploitation and abuse. This is a growing issue that we cannot ignore. The Breck Foundation session helped pupils to better understand how grooming can happen online, particularly through gaming and social platforms, and encouraged them to think carefully about trust, boundaries, privacy, and speaking to a trusted adult. The Foundation reports that 9 out of 10 young people say they would act differently online after taking part in a Breck Foundation workshop.
A recording of the parent talk is available for parents to view for the next two weeks. Although this recording was made in the UK, the content largely reflects what was delivered to parents in our session.
Your Zoom session recording is available to view for 2 weeks. Passcode: 3gVD*u*m
We also encourage parents to review the Breck Foundation’s post-presentation parent pack , which provides helpful guidance and follow-up advice.
Useful Online Safety Resources:
Internet Matters: A well-resourced organisation helping parents keep their children safe online, with guidance on everything from setting controls on consoles to cyberbullying and managing screen time.
NSPCC: A large UK charity working to stop child abuse both online and offline.
UK Safer Internet Centre: Promotes the safe, responsible and positive use of technology for children and young people.
Taming Gaming: A fantastic resource which reviews and explains video games for parents, including suggested alternatives and age-appropriate recommendations.
Common Sense Media: Provides reviews of video games, films, apps and online content, including input from parents and young people.
The Cyber Helpline: A confidential helpline and self-help service for victims of online crime, including cybercrime, digital fraud and online harm.

Did you know we’ve been working really hard to raise awareness around sustainability and reduce waste at BCS this year?
So far this year we have:
1. Placed scrap paper boxes in all classrooms and had pupils lead assemblies on how best these should be used.
2. Placed paper and plastic recycling bins on all floors.
3. Implemented ‘No Waste Wednesdays’ to reduce waste from snacks at break time.
4. Raised awareness around what we are doing in school to promote sustainability through ‘Did you know?’ statements in the newsletter (such as this!)
5. Run a whole week of activities across the whole school to celebrate ‘Earth Day’, including pupils writing their own pledges, ‘Earth Hour’, dress up day and a logo competition.
6. Launched a ‘Think before you print’ campaign to all members of staff.
7. Organised a book swap (‘readcycle’) during World Book Day where 160 books were swapped!
8. Run a pre-loved uniform shop thanks to our parent volunteers.
