Message from the Head of College Dear Parents, I hope everyone has had a good week. Thank you to all our Prep parents who joined us for our Settling-in Parents’ Meetings. I hope you found these a useful opportunity to hear how your children have settled into the new academic year. I was able to speak to a number of parents on Monday evening and it was excellent to hear how the year has started for your children. We have also welcomed another large number of prospective families to the College for our Open House this week. Word of mouth remains incredibly important to Brighton and I am very grateful to all those parents who recommend the College to friends and colleagues, as well as those who have given their time to support our Open House events. Hearing directly from current families gives prospective parents an invaluable insight into life at Brighton. I know a large number of Brighton families will be at Quiz Night at the British Club this evening. I hope everyone has a hugely enjoyable evening and wish all the teams the very best of luck! My thanks to Emma Shea and everyone involved in organising and hosting the event. I look forward to being back in Singapore and in school on Monday morning. Message from the Head of Prep Dear Brighton College Community, There is something very special about this point in the term. The initial excitement of a new school year begins to settle, routines become familiar and, most importantly, children start to feel a real sense of belonging within their classes, year groups and the wider College community. This week has provided some lovely examples of that. Our class photographs captured pupils together at the beginning of another year in their Brighton journey, while our Lower and Upper Prep assemblies have continued to provide valuable opportunities to come together, celebrate achievements and reinforce the values and expectations that shape our school. It was also wonderful to welcome so many of you into College for our recent Settling-In Evenings. These conversations between home and school are incredibly valuable, particularly at the beginning of a new academic year. Thank you for the positive engagement and for continuing to work so closely with our teachers to support your children. Today, we were delighted to welcome many prospective families to our Open House. It is always a pleasure to share our school with visitors, but our pupils are undoubtedly our best ambassadors. Their confidence, curiosity and kindness as they go about their day say far more about Brighton than any presentation ever could. Of course our community continues beyond the school day. This evening, I’m looking forward to joining many of our parents and colleagues for the Brighton Society Quiz Night. It promises to be a great evening and another opportunity to enjoy the friendships and connections that make our community so special. Wishing all our families a lovely weekend. Global Be Well Day (GBDW) On Friday 25 September, Brighton College (Singapore) will join schools across the Cognita family in celebrating Global Be Well Day - an annual event recognised throughout Cognita’s worldwide network of schools. The purpose of Global Be Well Day is to promote, celebrate and prioritise wellbeing while driving positive change within our communities. Pupils and staff will come together to take part in activities that support individual wellbeing and strengthen our sense of community. This year’s theme is ‘In Motion We Thrive’. Our programme of activities will explore how different types of movement can support our physical, mental and social wellbeing. Activities at Brighton Throughout the day, pupils will take part in a range of activities centred around four core pillars: Calm, Motivation, Connection and Energy. These will include: • Wellbeing-focused lessons, including discussions about how to remain calm and the practice of useful breathing exercises. • Team-building activities, where pupils will work together to strengthen friendships and develop their collaboration skills. Uniform for the Day Pupils in EYFS, Lower Prep and Upper Prep may wear their House PE shirt or regular PE shirt throughout the day. Pupils in Years 7–9 should arrive at school in their usual uniform but may bring their PE kit to change into. We look forward to an inspiring day where our pupils can reflect on the importance of wellbeing, connection and the community values that sit at the heart of Brighton College (Singapore). 5
Important Notices & Events Senior School - Lost ID Cards A reminder that all Senior School pupils are required to bring their school ID card with them every day. If a pupil loses their ID card, they should inform their tutor as soon as possible. Their tutor will record the lost card internally and arrange for a replacement to be produced through our Reception Team. The first replacement ID card in each academic year will be provided free of charge. If a pupil loses their ID card for a second time during the same academic year, a replacement charge of $10 will apply. Pupils will need to make this payment at the Finance Office before collecting their new card from Main Reception. We encourage pupils to take responsibility for keeping their ID card safe and to report a lost card promptly so that a replacement can be arranged.
Calling for two Year 8 Class Reps! We are looking for up to two Year 8 parents to join our Class Rep community and help keep our Year 8 parent community connected throughout the year. Hear from Meredith Martin, a Year 9 Class Rep and mum to children in Years 9 and 10, as she shares a little about the role and her experience as a Class Rep. Senior Choir It has been wonderful to see our choir membership continue to grow, with more pupils keen to get involved. New members from Years 7 to 12 are always welcome to join us. If you enjoy singing - even as a soloist - come along, share your talents and enjoy more opportunities to perform! Don’t forget to bring your break-time snack with you too. 6
Important Notices & Events Deepavali at Brighton - Parent Volunteers Needed! We look forward to celebrating Deepavali at Brighton College (Singapore) on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, with a special parent-led celebration for our whole College community. From 8.30am to 3.30pm, pupils across all year groups will visit the celebration space to enjoy festive activities and traditional Deepavali goodies. The venue will be confirmed nearer the date. We warmly invite parent volunteers to help shape and lead the celebration by sharing their ideas, traditions and creativity through activities, decorations, food and cultural experiences.. Brighton Talks Ep 17 - Pastoral Practices on Character & Values We warmly invite Lower and Upper Prep parents to the next episode of Brighton Talks, focusing on Pastoral Practices: Character & Values. Our Pastoral Team will share how our evolving approach - including moving away from sanctions hierarchies and continuing to emphasise restorative and relational practices - supports pupils in developing character and values, reflecting on their choices and building positive relationships within our school community. Important Notices & Events Under One Moon: Mid-Autumn Photography Competition This Mid-Autumn Festival, we are inviting our Brighton parent community to get creative and take part in our MidAutumn Photography Competition: Under One Moon. Running alongside our school-wide competition for pupils, parents are invited to capture what Mid-Autumn Festival means to them. It could be a family tradition, a glowing lantern, festive food, the moon in the night sky or simply a moment that brings Under One Moon to life. Each parent may submit one photograph, accompanied by a short caption sharing the story or meaning behind the image. Competition Period : Friday, 11 September 2026 - Monday, 28 September 2026 Winning photographs will be showcased around the school alongside selected pupil entries and featured as artwork for a Brighton College (Singapore) postcard. Brighton College (Singapore) Parents & Staff Choir Our first College Parents and Staff Choir rehearsal will take place today! New members are still very welcome to join us. Rehearsals will be held weekly on Friday mornings, with opportunities to sing at College events and external performances. If you are interested in taking part, please register using this form.

European Day of Languages 2026 European Day of Languages is approaching, and here at Brighton College (Singapore) we are looking forward to celebrating the wonderful multilingualism and multiculturalism within our College community. This year, activities will take place throughout the week, including special assemblies and a House Quiz, culminating in our main celebration on Friday, 2 October. We would also love to involve our European parent community. Parents of pupils in ELV, Pre-Prep and Upper Prep will be invited to visit classes to read a short story in another language or share something about their language and culture. Further information on how to get involved will follow. Our Main Celebration On Friday, the whole College will be invited to take part in a European-themed non-uniform day. Pupils are encouraged to wear something European They may wear something inspired by a European country, flag, landmark or cultural tradition. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative outfits across Prep and Senior School. European Bake Off - Senior School ONLY Our popular European Bake Off will also return for Senior School pupils. Pupils are invited to bring in a bake inspired by a European country or culture, with prizes awarded for the best entries. Please remember that Brighton College (Singapore) is a nut-minimisation College, so all entries must be completely nut-free. Further details about where and when to bring entries will be shared nearer the date. We are very much looking forward to celebrating the many languages and cultures represented within our College and to seeing the creativity of our pupils and families throughout the week. Pride and Joy of PCP Years 1 - 3 Adél had minimal English ability when she joined PCP Year 3 in February 2026. With her diligence and perseverance, and the support of her dedicated parents, Adél successfully transited from the PCP to mainstream after two terms. We are deeply impressed with her documentation of her summer holiday, using the English language, written on her summer scrap book. The PCP Years 4 - 6 children were captivated by her sharing. PCP Storytelling with Mr. Davies The children of PCP 1-3 had a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a storytelling session with Mr. Davis, who read The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Spotlight on...
Reading
Our pupils have made a fantastic start to their reading this September! Through Accelerated Reader, pupils have been busy reading and completing quizzes on their books and the numbers are already impressive. We’re looking forward to seeing these numbers continue to grow throughout the term as more classes are introduced to AR and start quizzing.
