A Message from the Head of College

It gives me enormous pleasure to introduce the very first edition of the Brighton Review, a publication that captures the energy, ambition and spirit of our growing community.

Since opening in 2020, Brighton College (Singapore) has developed into a confident, outward looking school, built firmly on the Brighton values of curiosity, confidence and kindness. These are not simply words on a page; they shape the way our pupils learn, the way we teach and the way we treat one another each day.

The Brighton Review is intended to be a snapshot of who we are and what we are building together. It celebrates our pupils’ achievements, the dedication of our staff and the generous support of our parent community. The achievements and growth recognised here, also reflect the strength of the valuable partnership between Brighton College International and Cognita, whose guidance and investment underpin our continued growth.

Above all, I hope you see across the pages of this review, plenty of evidence of the shared purpose that binds us all together, namely to cultivate confidence, kindness and intellectual curiosity within our pupils, so that they are ready and able to take a full, active and positive role in society, both locally and globally

Brighton College pupils continue to shine academically on both the national and international stage, achieving remarkable success in a wide range of prestigious academic competitions. From mathematics and linguistics to music, writing and public speaking, our pupils embrace intellectual challenge with enthusiasm and curiosity. Their achievements this year highlight not only individual excellence but also the vibrant culture of discovery and scholarship that defines life at Brighton College.

In mathematics, pupils enjoyed outstanding success in the SASMO Mathematics Olympiad, earning multiple gold, silver and bronze medals against some of the strongest young mathematicians across Asia.

In the prestigious Singapore Mathematics Olympiad, Zero secured a Gold Medal, achieving an exceptional 3rd place nationally in Singapore and 8th place across all participating Asian countries. Further success followed in the FOBISIA Maths Challenge, where our pupils won a host of gold, silver and bronze awards, demonstrating the depth of mathematical talent within the College.

Beyond mathematics, our pupils also excelled across an impressive range of disciplines. In the Brighton Colleges International competitions, pupils

achieved top three finishes in both the Leonardo and Germaine academic competitions. Our linguists also rose to the challenge in the Linguistics Olympiad, earning silver and bronze awards for their analytical thinking and language problem-solving skills.

Public speaking talent was equally impressive. At the LawCon Conference, Izzy was awarded Best Speaker, recognising confidence, clarity of thought and persuasive communication skills.

These successes are more than individual achievements. They reflect a community where intellectual curiosity is celebrated, ambition is encouraged, and pupils are inspired to compete and succeed on the world stage.

Golden Week A at the FOBISIA Games

The U11 FOBISIA Games in Bangkok offered an incredible array of sports competitions for our pupils, but it wasn’t just about medals. Children cherished every moment, building resilience, independence, and new friendships. It’s an experience, I'm sure they will never forget.”

“FOBISIA is an unforgettable experience of friendship, medals and celebration, from exciting competitions to gala dinners, dancing and shared memories, with each year promising even more energy and excitement.”

“The FOBISIA Games were unforgettable. Winning around 8–10 gold medals, along with two silver and two bronze medals, was an incredible achievement. Competing and winning in the football final on penalties, racing in the 100m relay, and representing my school made it a truly proud and special experience.”

Our Batam adventure was filled with teamwork, laughter and challenge. From rainforest trails and sailing triumphs (and one memorable capsize) to tropical downpours and joyful evenings, we embraced every moment with confidence, resilience and great spirit. Years 7 to 10

The Niseko Ski Trip was the highlight of this year. The experiences and challenges I faced with friends will never be forgotten, and I hope I get to go again.

We explored the Colonial, Malaysian, Indian and Chinese gardens, then visited the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest. We learned so much about plants and cultures and had lots of fun together YEAR 4

We trekked, kayaked and explored the rainforest, spotted monkeys, snakes and dolphins, and even saw orangutans in the wild. We were challenged in the best possible way, we felt proud, adventurous and excited every day.

Year 7

Our Pasir Ris residential was brilliant. We built rafts, used maps and compasses, tackled high ropes at Forest Adventure, and learned survival skills. From team challenges to swimming and movie night, we worked together, made friends and felt really proud.

Our Pufflings loved visiting Hay Dairies Goat Farm. We watched goats being milked, fed hungry goats with hay and even tasted fresh goat milk. The cheeky goats made us laugh, and it was a morning full of smiles and excitement. HAY

DAIRIES GOAT FARM

Our Tioman trip was amazing. We snorkelled in clear waters and even saw a turtle, built fires and shelters, and toasted marshmallows. Evenings were full of games, singing and a bonfire. It was unforgettable and so much fun.

Making a difference

Pre−Nursery Pufflings

18MONTHS- 3 YEARS

Pufflings is our vibrant Pre-Nursery for children aged 18 months to 3 years, offering a 1:4 adult–child ratio to ensure exceptional care and attention. With a dedicated soft playroom, sensory-rich spaces and free-flow indoor–outdoor learning, children thrive through joyful play and exploration.

Nursery Puffins

3-4 YEARS

Nursery Puffins offers a rich, play-based learning experience for children aged 3–4 years. With weekly PE, Mandarin and music lessons, plus hands-on woodwork and cooking sessions, children build confidence, creativity and real-life skills in a nurturing, inspiring environment.

Reception

4-5 YEARS

Reception is a vibrant year of growth and discovery. Children benefit from daily phonics, with swimming introduced weekly in Reception, alongside weekly dance, drama and specialisttaught art. They can also join our daily CCA programme, offering a wide range of enriching clubs including languages, arts and sports.

Our Pre-Prep provides an exceptional start to school life, with EYFS provision across Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception.

We welcome children from 18 months into a warm, nurturing environment. Learning through play is at the heart of everything we do, creating joyful, meaningful experiences every day. Our curriculum is based on the British EYFS framework, which supports children’s development through seven key areas of learning, ensuring strong foundations for future success. High staff-to-child ratios allow for excellent adult–child interactions and truly personalised care. Children enjoy free-flow access between inspiring indoor spaces and outdoor balconies with sand and water play, alongside purpose-built kitchens, a soft playroom and a gross motor room.

All the World's a Stage

We stage a vast range of musical, dramatic and dance productions every year, from informal concerts to major performances. Our Drama department is a fun, energetic hub of creativity. Pupils explore performance, theatre history and on- and off-stage roles while building confidence, teamwork, communication and imagination, skills for life, not just the classroom.
