Meet Matthew
Matthew moved to one of our Bright Futures schools from a mainstream primary school He was being regularly excluded due to his behaviour and heightened anxiety which left him with gaps in his learning. Both at home and school, Matthew struggled with social interaction, communication, and expressed his distress through his behaviour. He was often isolated from peer and teacher interaction.
Our Impact
Through small class sizes, therapeutic intervention, multisensory teaching, bespoke timetables, and an individualised education programme with the support from our Behaviour Support Plans, Matthew turned a corner.
His self-esteem, social skills, independence, and selfregulation ability improved He became a Student Council Lead, supporting his integration with his peers and teachers alike, and was able to get involved in a variety of exciting trips and community projects
The impact on his education has meant that he achieved Level 2 qualifications for all core subjects and is successfully moving to a mainstream college where he is set-up to thrive.
The Future
As he enters adulthood, the outlook is exceptionally strong for Matthew. He is an active part of the community and is taking part in work experience alongside college to further develop his skills and independence.

Every pupil is baseline assessed on entry, with ongoing assessment ensuring barriers to learning and gaps in knowledge and skills are quickly identified and addressed in a timely manner.

Meet Ella
Ella joined Bright Futures in September 2022 with a diagnosis of Autism and Global Developmental Delay She relied on PEC Symbols and Makaton to communicate but would become frustrated if she was misunderstood.
Our Impact
Building on her existing communication strategies to ensure consistency in the communication tools Ella was familiar with, the team started to progress her onto a communication book as she became more and more comfortable and confident. The book enabled her to ask for her favourite items and activities more easily, and we very quickly started to see the positive impact.
In 2024, Ella progressed onto an AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) device, which became her primary method of communication. This transformation unlocked her confidence, allowing her to express her choices, share her day, and engage more fully in learning With additional support from Shine Therapy, her speech and writing skills have also started to improve as part of this.
The Future
Ella has been making great progress with her phonics and has moved up through the levels within the synthetic phonics programme. She is making brilliant progress and growing in confidence each day.
