W
orkforce retention continues to be a challenge for many American businesses, and the situation is no different here in Fremont County. The Lander Chamber is responding to this challenge with two new initiatives aimed at making Lander a more attractive place to put down roots.
Lander Young Professionals These days Lander is known primarily for its abundant wealth of outdoor adventure opportunities, but just because Lander is an outdoor recreation mecca doesn’t mean that everyone who takes a job here is eager to get on a fat bike or strap on a climbing harness. Business owners have shared with us that new arrivals to Lander can often feel overwhelmed by the town’s outdoorsy vibe, sometimes alienating new professionals who feel like they just don’t fit in. This has resulted in more than a few leaving Lander not all that long after they arrived. Enter the Lander Young Professionals. Last year, we were approached by two young ladies from Chamber member Fagnant, Lewis & Brinda about starting a group to help young professionals meet each other, develop relationships, and get connected to the community. Joined by two young men from fellow Chamber members Central Bank & Trust and Strike Consulting Group, Lander Young Professionals (LYP) was born. With several events under its belt and a generous grant from the LOR Foundation, Lander Young Professionals is succeeding in helping our young workforce foster professional relationships, promote local businesses, and give back to the community. Alyssa Lozier Inaugural Lander Volunteer Fair Another way the Chamber is working to retain Fremont County’s workforce is by making people aware of the many volunteer opportunities available here in Wind River Country. A cooperative effort between the Lander Chamber and the Lander Community Foundation, the purpose of the Lander Volunteer Fair is to bring together the business and non-profit communities so each can help meet the needs of the other: businesses to provide non-profits with volunteers and non-profits to provide businesses with engaged employees connected to the people and issues that matter to them. Lander will become “stickier” and harder to leave when new employees are connected to more than just their jobs.

VOLUNTEER FAIR
Hosted by the Lander Chamber in cooperation with the Lander Community Foundation, the inaugural Lander Volunteer Fair was held on Saturday, April 2. The event connected eager volunteers to more than 20 nonprofit and charitable organizations serving Lander and beyond. Participating organizations gained many -- and much needed -- new helpers, and volunteers found ways to place their time, talents, and treasure at the service of issues important to them. We gratefully thank our sponsors -- Rocky Mountain Power, Westward Heights Care Center, and Fremont Therapy Group -- for making possible what we expect will become an annual event!

NEW MEMBERS
A board-certified OB GYN and Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Ken Holt proudly opened Aspenglow Obstetrics and Gynecology in September 2020. Currently the only specialty clinic in Lander and all of Fremont County, Aspenglow provides obstetric and gynecologic care to women of all ages. Although a relatively new resident of Wyoming, Dr. Holt has vacationed in Lander and Wyoming many times in his life, and he and his soon-to-be new wife, Jamie, are delighted to call Lander their new home. Conveniently located at 125 Wyoming Street near the hospital and in the same building as Community Health Pediatrics, Dr. Holt and Jamie are accepting new patients and invite you to stop by to meet them and to see the facilities. Jamie and Dr. Holt are proud to care for their friends and neighbors in the community The Rock Church thanks Lander and Fremont County residents for their support over the years. They know that many of you have poured into this facility and continue to help support it as well. A native of Douglas, Pastor Jeff Courtier is excited to be back in Wyoming after many years in Western Nebraska. He has a huge heart for community and loves to coach kids. The Rock Church has been giving to local organizations over the last year and looks to give even more.
Located at 150 Baldwin Creek Road, The Rock Church is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 am – 5:30 pm. The popular climbing wall is open on Thursdays after school at 4pm (all gear provided!) and plans are to keep the wall open though the summer. Birthday parties are available for scheduling on Friday night and Sunday afternoons. Please call a few weeks in advance for birthdays. They are also open for group gatherings. On the other days of the week, they have been open to other programs in our community using the facility for youth and young adults. The Rock Church is operating on a donation basis only, and Pastor Jeff reports that the community’s generosity and consistency have been overwhelming.
