A
lthough winter just can’t seem to let go, we’ve got summer on our minds here at the Chamber! And when you talk about summer in Lander, you’re inevitably talking about events. Whether Climbers’ Fest, Riverfest, Lander LIVE, Pioneer Days Rodeo, Pageant of the Old West 4th of July Parade, Fremont Area Road Tour, Jurassic Classic, Sinks Canyon Rough & Tumble Trail Runs, Native American dance performances -- to name only a few -- summers in Lander are abuzz with activity. In this issue, we’re highlighting two events that can help bring notoriety and revenue to your business. 7th Annual Wyoming Outdoor Weekend (WOW) - May 22 Co-hosted by the Lander Economic Development Association (LEDA) and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD), the Wyoming Outdoor Weekend is becoming a regional event. Now in its seventh year, the WOW is a family-friendly unofficial kickoff to summer that brings the outdoors to the community through exhibitors who focus on products that enrich outdoor experiences and educational opportunities that showcase wildlife and outdoor skills. Attendance at the WOW continues to grow, injecting tens of thousands of dollars into Lander’s economy each year. A major contributor to this is the WOW Shop Local Raffle. See inside to learn how your business can participate -- and benefit!
19th Annual Lander Brewfest What began twenty years ago as a modest gathering of three or four brewers in Jaycee Park has become one of the premier craft beer festivals in not only Wyoming, but also the entire Rocky Mountain West. Lander Brewfest now attracts just shy of 30 brewers serving 80+ beers each year and brings more than 2,500 visitors to Lander.
In 2021, we’re working closely with the Wyoming Craft Brewers Guild to increase the prestige of Brewfest by recruiting professionally certified beer serves and tasters. We’re also engaging high quality food vendors who can provide food worthy of serving alongside fine craft beer. Strengthening Lander’s Economy
Lander’s Wyoming Outdoor Weekend & Expo (WOW) is an annual family-friendly gathering that celebrates the kickoff to summer and highlights outdoor recreation opportunities and vendors. Attendees discover what outdoor activities are available in the area and enjoy live music, wagon rides, primitive fire-starting demos, and free food and beverages. This year’s WOW will be held outside the Lander Community & Convention Center on Saturday, May 22 from 4:30 – 7:00 p.m., but the Virtual WOW has already begun! The WOW Virtual Shop Local Raffle Since May 1, and leading up to the 22nd, the WOW Virtual Shop Local Raffle encourages Lander locals and especially WOW attendees to spend their money with Lander’s businesses. With the WOW growing in popularity each year, the Shop Local Raffle has injected tens of thousands of dollars into local businesses in recent years, so we encourage you to start your summer off right by taking advantage of this shop local initiative! How Does the Virtual Shop Local Raffle Work? Shoppers will be encouraged to purchase local goods and services and submit their receipts in return for a raffle entry for every $10 spent with a Lander business up to $500 (excluding fuel and grocery purchases) for a maximum total of 50 raffle entries. How Can My Business Get Involved? •
Spread the word about the raffle! Many attractive outdoor prizes have been donated by local businesses and world class vendors to attract more entries in the raffle — which attracts more money to your business! • Display the WOW 2021 Flyer in your business or on your website/social media page • Have a WOW Sale! Let your customers know that every $10 they spend with you will get them an entry in the WOW Shop Local Raffle!
