FIND WONDER
Breckenridge is known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and authentic mountain town charm. Each summer, BIFA brings those qualities to life in bold, inspiring, and unexpected ways — transforming our trails, streets, and open spaces into living stages and canvases. Whether you’re a long-time local or visiting for the first time, I invite you to experience our town through the imaginative lens of the artists who help us see the world – and each other – in new ways.
The arts are not just something we enjoy here in Breckenridge – Council sees them as a strategy to advance our community values and goals. We invest in Arts District, public art programs, and our long-standing local arts non-profit organizations because these initiatives offer a measurable return when it comes to celebrating diversity, fostering environmental stewardship, and supporting a thriving local economy.
The Town is particularly excited to present the U.S. Premiere of Daan Roosegaarde’s SPARK this year. SPARK highlights Breckenridge’s commitment to sustainability and provides a moment to gather people together, look up at the sky in wonder and inspire continued progress toward becoming a certified International Dark Sky Place.
I extend my deepest gratitude to Breck Create’s members and donors whose generous support makes this festival possible. Our unique public/private partnership exponentially increases the impact of the programming BIFA offers and keeps many events free, making Breckenridge welcoming and open to all.

CIÜGABOC (CHOO-GUH-BOCHE)
BY JOE SCOLARI
AUG 15–24 • ALL DAY • ILLINOIS CREEK TRAIL WOODEN MARBLES $10
Swiss-Italian artist Joe Scolari’s Ciügaboc is a playful series of interactive marble runs made from wood and stone, shaped by the forest floor. Designed to reconnect families with nature, these joyful sculptures invite exploration and wonder. The title, Ciügaboc, is a humorous dialect term that loosely combines “to try” or “spin” with “balls”—and nods to the dung beetle, nature’s original marble runner.
Wooden marbles available for purchase at the BIFA Info Tent or Old Masonic Hall.

BIOPHILIC REGENERATION SERIES: THE DREDGE
BY NICOLE BANOWETZ
AUG 23 – 24 • 9AM-12PM • REILING DREDGE VIA B&B TRAILHEAD /PARKING LOT ACTIVATIONS 9:30, 10:30 + 11:30AM This Trail is ADA accessible.
The Biophilic Regeneration Series are performative sculptures that explore our disconnection from nature and the overwhelm of climate change. Set in the Reiling Dredge area—where a river was once buried by mining—the work highlights how quickly humans can alter the land. Yet, it also offers hope: if we have the power to harm, we have the power to heal. Through absurd yet intentional acts, the series invites reflection on regeneration and our potential to restore the planet.
This artwork was created by the artist during her fall, 2024 residency at Breck Create.

GUIDED MINDFULNESS HIKES
Mindfulness experts guide participants through personal reflection and create meaningful conversations centered in mental health and wellbeing along the trail.
FOREST BATHING
Connecting to the atmosphere of a forest with a mindful approach is a Japanese practice known as “Shinrin-yoku.” Rather than simply taking a walk in the woods, your guide will lead you in a conscious journey—taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the forest, as well as the featured artists along the trail. Emmy-nominated singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Kishi Bashi brings his signature blend of cinematic pop and orchestral brilliance to the Riverwalk Center stage. A classically trained violinist and Berklee College of Music alum, Kishi Bashi has performed with symphonies across the country and toured with artists like Regina Spektor and of Montreal. His debut album 151a (2012) earned praise from NPR and led to appearances at SXSW, Austin City Limits, and late-night shows like SNL and Fallon. Since then, he’s released a series of acclaimed albums, scored Apple TV+’s Stillwater, and created Omoiyari—a poignant project exploring Japanese American identity through music and film.
His newest release, Kantos (2024), channels sci-fi, ancient philosophy, and global influences into a kaleidoscopic sonic journey. Don’t miss this genredefying performance at BIFA—where sound, story, and artistry come together under the mountain sky.

BE A PART OF THE BEGINNING.
Breckenridge Backstage Theatre introduces The Great Divide, a new folk inspired original musical that brings the spirit of early Colorado to life. Set against the rugged rise of Breckenridge, this workshop production features local musicians and explores the trials of gold mining, long winters and a nation torn by Civil War. As tensions rise, one truth remains: a house divided against itself cannot stand. Breckenridge and Colorado stake their claim in the shaping of The United States of America.
Commissioned by Breck Create as a part of the 2025 Breckenridge International Festival of Arts in anticipation of further development and presentation during the America 250 Colorado 150 in 2026.

REILING DREDGE VIA B&B TRAIL

Follow the bridge across the creek to the Reiling Dredge and enjoy many of the intersecting trails in the historic mining district.
LITTLE MOUNTAIN TRAIL
Trail Difficulty: Moderate
From Blue River Plaza, drive south on Main Street and turn left onto Boreas Pass Road. Continue for about half a mile until you reach the Stephen C. West Ice Arena on the right. Park in the arena lot and head to the far east end to find the trailhead. Upon crossing the creek, locate the Illinois Creek High Trail and continue straight. Continue uphill (0.1 miles) then keep left on Illinois Creek High Trail (0.2 miles). Make a slight left at Little Mountain Trail to start the one-way loop. Make a slight left at the top of the mountain to find the marble run (CIÜGABOC), approximately 0.6 miles from the parking lot. Continue on the one-way loop down the mountain.
Ten years ago, in 2014, the Town of Breckenridge formed Breck Create as an independent non-profit organization to take over management of its public art assets, including a 33-piece public art collection and five major cultural arts venues made up of 14 facilities and historic structures.
While much of Breck Create’s public funding goes toward the maintenance and operations of these assets, Breck Create also plans programming to complement the work of longstanding Breckenridge-based cultural organizations. Breck Create operates under a pioneering business model that leverages public funding with patron-generated revenue and funding collaborations.
With an emphasis on authenticity, culture and singularity of place, all Breck Create programs and services are designed to promote community building, placemaking, and economic development in Breckenridge.
MISSION
To deliver inspiring creative experiences that enrich the quality of life for all residents and quality of place for visitors.
WHAT WE DO
1. Operate and provide SERVICES to enable commercial and non-profit organizations to use Town of Breckenridge cultural assets
2. Produce and provide PROGRAMS such as performances, classes, community events, festivals and exhibitions to complement offerings of other organizations
