Hermes Danse Real vs Fake

Hermes Danse Real Vs Fake

From a far differences are subtle, mainly its the stitching and the color of the hardware, the stitching on the authentic bag (right) uses the saddle stitching technique that has been used at Hermes for years, having a hand-stitched and authentic finely spaced stitches that give it the premium feel, while the fake bag on the left has inconsistencies in stitching throughout the entire bag.

The hardware on authentic bag has the gold color that we are used to in Hermes, and the hardware is consistent in polish color and finish throughout the entire bag.

Lets take a closer look.

Engraving Clarity and Finish: The engraving on the original (left) is deep, crisp, and has a smooth background. The fake (right) has a shallow, fuzzy engraving with a rough, pitted background, creating a speckled or dotted appearance.

Font Precision: The font on the authentic piece is sharp and well-defined with clean serifs. The font on the counterfeit is inconsistent and appears blurred, making the letters look less distinct.

Overall Sharpness: Every line and curve on the original engraving is perfectly defined. On the fake, the edges of the letters are soft and lack precision, a direct result of inferior tooling and craftsmanship.

Stamp quality & alignment: The authentic stamp is crisp, evenly pressed, and centered, while the fake shows thinner, less consistent lettering with uneven alignment.

Hardware finishing: The authentic plate has a clean, smooth, high-quality polish, whereas the fake plate shows more surface distortion and less refined finishing.

Screw details: The authentic screws sit neatly and evenly in their recessed circles; on the fake, the screws appear less centered and the recesses are not as sharply defined.

Stitching quality: The authentic stitching on the left shows tight, angled saddle stitches with consistent spacing and thread tension that sits perfectly flush against the leather. On the fake (right), the stitches are more upright, thicker, and unevenly spaced, with visible tension inconsistencies indicating machine stitching rather than the hand saddle-stitching Hermès is known for.

Bolt color & oxidation: The authentic bolts on the left are clean, even in tone, and match the hardware plating, while the bolts on the fake show a darker, uneven coloration that looks like oxidation or poor-quality coating.

Hardware finish: The authentic plate has a smooth, uniform gold finish with minimal surface distortion; the fake plate appears patchy with visible irregularities and a less refined polish.

Screw/bolt shape & alignment: On the authentic hardware, the bolts are neatly rounded and evenly set; on the fake, the bolts look flatter, less precise, and slightly misaligned within the plate.

Hardware quality (weight, plating uniformity, bolt color): The authentic hardware on the left has a deep, even gold plating with a clean mirror finish; the bolts match the plate in tone and show no discoloration or oxidation.

On the fake (right), the gold tone is more yellow and inconsistent, and the bolts appear slightly darker with mild oxidation/uneven coloration—a common sign of lower-grade metal alloy and cheaper plating.

Engraving precision (“HERMÈS – PARIS” and hallmark box): The engraving on the authentic bag is perfectly centered, thin, crisp, and deeply struck with clean edges. The hallmark box is sharp and proportional.

On the fake bag, the engraving appears thicker, softer, and less sharply cut; the font spacing is slightly off, and the hallmark box looks shallower and less defined, which is a typical flaw in counterfeit hardware.

Stitching quality (angle, tension, thread finish): The authentic stitching on the left shows tight, angled saddle stitches with consistent spacing and thread tension that sits perfectly flush against the leather.

On the fake (right), the stitches are more upright, thicker, and unevenly spaced, with visible tension inconsistencies— especially noticeable along the strap edge—indicating machine stitching rather than the hand saddle-stitching Hermès is known for.
