Jeffrey Hirst has exhibited his work throughout the United States and Europe since 1990. He holds an MFA from Louisiana State University and a BFA from the University of Minnesota. His work has been showcased at national and international venues including the Minneapolis Institute of Art; The Holter Museum, Helen, Montana; Addington Gallery, Chicago, McKinney Contemporary, Dallas, McLean Project for the Art, McLean, VA, and Bienal do Douro, Portugal. Hirst has been a visiting artist at universities around the United States conducting painting and printmaking workshops and has taught workshops at NCSW-Bennington College in VT, Arrowmont School for the Arts in TN, Truro Center for the Arts in MA, Cullowhee Mountain Arts in NC, and has been an annual presenter at the International Encaustic Conference in MA. Hirst is the owner of Hirst Printmaking, a printmaking shop specializing in intaglio, hybrid processes, screenprinting, and experimental approaches towards combining printmaking and painting. In 2005, Hirst pioneered the process of combining silkscreen and encaustic painting and has conducted workshops on the process throughout the United States. Hirst is a recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board grant, the DCASE City of Chicago Individual Artist grant and was awarded a fellowship residency at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation in County Mayo, Ireland. His work is in numerous public and private collections including Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Arcstone Technologies, Grant Thornton International, Great River Energy, SAP America, and Southern Graphics Council.

MARCO QUERIN

Marco Querin is a former resident of Milano, Italy and therefore grew up in one of the world’s most renowned regions for fashion, visual art and architectural design. His fondest childhood memory is the way the light would cast rays across his home’s furniture, rugs and other accessories, breaking up the colors and creating new images to ponder. Querin’s father made art and influenced Marco’s exploration of materials and making. He first experimented with the use of various natural materials such as poppy seeds, cinnamon powder, saffron and vanilla tea. Eventually embracing the influence of the textile industry in Northern Italy, Querin settled on the use of fiber as his primary medium. Querin imprints his demands on his materials, looking for three-dimensional solutions for his world of ideas. His extroversion of the traditional canvas is conveyed through a mixed use of fabrics, textiles (thin cottons or silks, thick and rustic wools or rope) and even household materials (PCV tubing, copper, wire) create abstract compositions of color fields, geometric design elements in his own formal language - a nod to the aesthetics and expressions of ground breaking artists such as Mondrian, Kandinsky, and Agnes Martin. Notable recent exhibitions include: La Calerta, Oaxaca, Mexico (2019); Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (2018, 2016), Kuaba Gallery, Indianapolis, IN (2015); Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, London, UK (2013); East Wing X, Courtauld Institute of Art, London, UK (2012); Kunstart 12, Bolzano, Italy (2012); Associazione Culturale Seragiotto ‐ Padua, Italy (2011); India Art Summit, Stark Projects, New Delhi (2011).
“Long ago I taught myself an elementary way to control time ‐ blink once to pause my life, and blink again to restart it. It was a simple escape mechanism permitting me to avoid pain. My blinking method evolved and I started to actually focus on each slice of time itself, rather than on what may have happened before or might happen after them."
