NUKE SITE DISPUTE: The U.S. and Iran dispute whether Tehran had agreed to allow U.N. inspections of its nuclear sites. Group backs new sales tax BY STEPHANIE LAM Daily Post Staff Writer

A group of San Carlos residents say a half-cent sales tax is needed to help maintain the city’s reputation as the “City of Good Living,” but others aren’t so sure. Council on Monday unanimously placed a new half-cent sales tax on

the November ballot. The decision is drawing mixed reactions from residents at council’s meeting on Monday. Some are concerned introducing a new tax will burden locals, while others are throwing their full support behind it, including a newly-formed coalition of business owners and residents.

If passed, the tax will generate approximately $6 million in additional annual revenue for San Carlos over the next 14 years. The new sales tax rate would be 9.87%.The money will be used to maintain city services, including keeping existing parks and community facilities safe, fixing pot[See TAX, page 18]
