Another city considers changes to El Camino

IRAN LOSING STRAIT: Iran appears to be losing its grip on the Strait of Hormuz while traffic through the critical waterway has exploded by nearly 400% over the last two weeks — as ships increasingly use a U.S.backed corridor to cross. Nearly 200 ships navigated the strait last week, up from 150 the previous week and just 40 two weeks earlier, according to data from the UK Maritime Trade Operations Center.

The city of Menlo Park may follow in the footsteps of Palo Alto by removing parking along part of El Camino Real to make way for bike lanes. The bike lanes, which would be separated from car traffic, would be added to El Camino between the Palo Alto border and Roble Avenue, with parking removed along that stretch. The reconfiguration is just one option the city is considering for El Camino, and a plan has not been finalized. City Council will hear an update on El Camino Real tomorrow.
