Welcome to our first annual production sale.

Megan and I are proud and excited to bring you our first line up of sale cattle. It has been 10 years since our journey began with the purchase of Black Simmental and Sim Angus cows from Wendouree Simmentals in 2013. Since then, we strengthened our genetic pool with purchases from the Buckingham herd and the Morganvale Simmentals herd in South Australia.

Our herd has grown to 130 Black Simmental and Sim Angus cows which gives us flexibility to breed bulls to suit all markets. We have developed a strong commercial following in the Southern Tablelands and we look to strengthen this with a strong line up of commercially relevant bulls and heifers. With a focus on structure, fertility and muscling, we are proud to offer these yearling cattle in our first sale.

Southern Blacks Simmentals has been active improving our genetics in the past few years, purchasing Black Simmental sires such as Valley Creek North, Wormbete Quantum Leap, Bandeeka Blacks Nilo and Valley Creek Sylvester. We are also developing our Sim Angus program purchasing the Millamurra Quixote Son, Valley Creek Taylor Made and Wormbete Stockholm. We believe the Sim Angus gives breeders more flexibility in their respective programs.

All sale animals have been vet checked, 7 in 1 vaccinated and GGP100-tested for parent identification, colour and poll status. All bulls have been semen tested, vaccinated for pestivirus, tick fever and vibrio, so you can buy with confidence.

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to both new and existing clients to invest in our Black Simmental program and look forward to building our relationships further.

Go to www.auctionsplus.com.au to register at least 48 hours before the sale. Select “Sign Up” in the top right hand corner.

Fill out your name, mobile number, email address and create a password.

Fill in buyer details and once completed go back to Dashboard.

Go to your emails and confirm the account.

Complete buyer induction module (approx. 30 minutes).

Return to AuctionsPlus and log in.

AuctionsPlus will email you to let you know that your account has been approved.

Bid using the two-step process –unlock the bid button and bid at that price.

Select “Dashboard” and then select “Request Approval to Buy”.

If you are successful, the selling agent will contact you post sale to organise delivery and payment.

Sale Information

Inspection

All sale cattle will be on display on sale day. Inspections are welcome at any other time by prior arrangement.

Bidding

All bidding will be on AuctionsPlus and will commence at 6.00 pm Friday 22nd September. It will be a timed out helmsman system. Please contact Daniel Croker on 0407 283 783 if you are unsure of the auction process or wish to phone bid.

DNA

All heifers and bulls have been parent verified, colour tested and poll tested.

Raw Data

All bulls will be weighed and scanned prior to sale. Supplementary information will be available prior to sale on social media or by request.

Transport and Delivery

Free delivery up to 200km of sale address 10 Rotherwood Road Lake Bathurst NSW). All animals waiting for delivery will be held free of charge. All care will be taken but no responsibility will be accepted for any injury or loss.

GST

All lots are sold excluding GST.

Rebate

Selling agents are Nutrien Livestock. Outside agents are entitled to a 4% rebate under the following conditions:

• Introducing the buyer in writing to the selling agent at least 24 hours to the sale and settling within 7 days.

Transfer

All sale cattle are registered with the Simmental Australia and are eligible for transfer. Please advise if you would like your transfer any purchased animal.

Insurance

Ownership passes at the completion of the sale so we suggest you insure your purchases. A Nutrien insurance representative will be available – Insurance Manager Fiona Peterson 0408 924 508.

Guarantee

All our sale lots are sold as sound breeders. In the event that a heifer or bull is found to be infertile or incapable of natural service, (which has not occurred from injury or due to illness) following the completion of the sale, we will offer a replacement animal or credit you the value of the heifer or bull less the salvage value of the animal. This guarantee does not include interest, expenses, costs or damages. All claims should be made in writing within 6 months of the date of sale, accompanied with a veterinarian certificate.

EPD Information

With the introduction of the IGS performance recording system for Simmental cattle, IGS is the world’s largest animal performance recording system.

One of the major changes is the breeding figures being reported as Estimate Progeny Differences (EPDs), rather than Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs). The difference between the two is simple.

Effectively, an EBV is an animal’s own genetic value for a particular trait. However, the animal can only pass half of this onto their progeny. EPDs have the “half” already accounted for. That is, an EPD is the genetic merit of an animal’s progeny – what they will pass onto their progeny.

IGS can incorporate an animal’s genomics into its performance data. All animals in the Simmental Opportunity sale have been 100K GGP-LD DNA profiled.
