The Old Fire Hall on Grafton Road has a new owner as BC Hydro completed purchase of the site to start the new year. The utility company paid $900,000 for the property, which will now serve as a permanent base on the island. The building became an active Fire Hall in 1969 following a donation from the Davies Family and served in this capacity for more than five decades before the opening of the New Fire Hall on Miller Road made it obsolete. BC Hydro has been using the site under lease terms during the three years since. “By securing this location, BC Hydro is making a longterm commitment to Bowen Island. Our crews will be able to respond to outages more quickly and provide reliable service that supports the community’s future growth,” said BC Hydro president and CEO Charlotte Mitha.
