A NOTE FROM THE SCHOOL OF THEATRE DIRECTOR
Welcome to BU School of Theatre!
The School of Theatre is overjoyed to welcome you to our 2025-2026 season. This year all of our work explores the themes of Renew and Reuse, an invitation for all of our resident theatre practitioners here at SOT to present work that takes a story or theme that may seem somewhat familiar, use the storytelling power of theatre to examine those themes anew. For some of our projects such as Dream this entails adapting a play that has been mounted perpetually since its first incarnations and re-shaping it to push the boundaries of live performance through its exploration of technology on stage, or, not so perpetual, such as Islander and its exploration of sound. For our many instances of new work – The Eleanors, Thumbprint, Calf Scramble, Flowers for Mrs. Harris, Flight, and our Next Stage Workshops and Springboards– this re-envisioning takes the form of new and emerging artists re-considering essential queries of what it means to be human during our brief period of time on this earth together. For pieces such as Top Girls, Fefu and Her Friends, 12 Angry Jurors, and contemporary adaptations of Roméo and Juliette, Medea and The Oresteia, this can mean rediscovering work by playwrights who have demanded audiences contemplate the forces that bind, or otherwise threaten to tear us apart. We are also delighted to revisit offerings that appear each year in our season–namely our collaboration with Boston University’s Dance Theatre Group Aurora Borealis and Director’s Project. We hope, however, that you will experience all of our pieces as a celebration of community and collaboration, forces that have proven time again, to instill meaning not only in our work, but the processes that we share to bring that work to life

Nirah Michel (Iphigenia) (she/her) is thrilled to be making her BU debut. She is a sophomore theatre arts major with a minor in history and has previously trained at New Tampa Dance Theatre. She would like to thank her family and friends, with a special thanks to her mom, for their constant support through her theatre journey.
Leo Flora (Agamemnon) (he/him) is a senior Acting major from Philadelphia. Past credits include Albert Harris/Marquis in Flowers for Mrs. Harris (BU), Sir Andrew in Twelfth Night (RADA), Prentiss in Peter and the Starcatcher (Americana Theatre Company), Cassius in Julius Caesar (BU), and Soldier/Alex in Sunday in the Park with George (BU). Paolo Roberto Bonarriva (Orestes) (he/him) is a DMV-based actor and writer at Boston University College of Fine Arts. He is a BFA Theatre Arts Performance student of the Class of 2027, minoring in English. Previous credits include Runaways, Dracula, and Beauty and the Beast. He is currently involved in new works development and workshopping. He would like to thank all of his friends and family for their continued support of his passion.

Kennedi Young (Cassandra) (she/ her) is a senior acting major whose recent credits include Paula in Fefu and Her Friends and Anna in The Sweet Science of Bruising. She will be based in New York and Boston following graduation and is excited to continue building her career as an actor.
Kate Dickinson (Watchman/ Chorus A) is a Boston-based actor and playwright. They are currently pursuing a BFA in Theater Arts from Boston University.
Lillian Devlin (Chorus B) is a senior acting major, concentrating in musical theatre and minoring in entrepreneurship. Past BU productions include, Fefu And Her Friends (Fefu), The Srkiker (Skriker), Ever in The Glades (Sticks/Reverend/ Charity), Yerma (Laundress). Lillian is also a proud member of CFA’s resident improv troupe, SponCom and has studied comedy at The Second City and The Groundlings. Lillian went abroad her junior year, studying classical text at LAMDA in London. She wants to thank her mom, dad and sister along with her extremely supportive faculty. She is so honored to be a part of such a wonderful cast and crew and she hopes you love the show!

Jordan Berke (Chorus D) (she/her) is thrilled to be a part of this beautiful show as her final BU production. From Westchester, New York, she is a Theatre Arts Performance senior with a musical theatre concentration and a minor in dance. Past BU productions include Museum, Entry (or, you think you know me), and Top Girls. She spent her junior Spring semester abroad in Arezzo, Italy, at the Academia del’Arte, where she studied physical theatre and dance. Sophie Pugh (Nurse/Chorus F) is a Philadelphia-born actor and a senior Theatre Arts major, concentrating in Musical Theatre. Sophie is thrilled to be back in The Booth and to be directed by a woman. She was last seen on the BU stage as Mrs. Harris in Flowers for Mrs. Harris and the titular role of Metellus in Julius Caesar. Past work includes “Hamlet” in Hamlet at RADA, “Gary” in Present Laughter, at LAMDA, and “Catherine” in Pippin. She is a proud Alumna of Interlochen Arts Academy, where she majored in Musical Theatre. Shirley Brill (Costume Designer) is a second-year MFA Costume Design student at Boston University and is thrilled to have had the experience working on The Oresteia with this incredible team for her final production at BU before graduating at the end of this semester! Alisa Saisakorn (Production Electrician) (she/they) is a Class of 2027 lighting design student originally from Washington state. Shalee Cole Mauleón (Director) (she/ her) is a director, writer, and dramaturg specializing in new play development. Before moving to Boston, she directed with 20% Theatre Company, Uprising, and Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis, MN. Since moving to Boston, she has directed with Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, Moonbox Productions, The Rockwell, and assisted Tasia A. Jones on Front Porch Arts Collective’s and Central Square Theatre’s production of Her Portmanteau, a part of Mfoniso Udofia’s Ufot Cycle.
