JUNE 2018 UPDATE Foreign Direct Investments in Boone County Last week, Pamela Lopez-Fettes, Executive Director of Growth Dimensions, attended the SelectUSA Investment Summit. The Summit was a high-profile event dedicated to promoting foreign direct investment in the United States. Featuring senior government officials, C-Suite business executives, and other thought leaders, each Summit focuses on a timely theme related to the U.S. investment environment, industry trends, and new opportunities. The 3-day Summit provided an opportunity to bring together companies from all over the world, economic development organizations, and other parties working to facilitate business investment in the United States. U.S. economic development organizations had the opportunity to meet over 1,000 investors who are seeking to establish or expand their business operations in the United States. Moreover, the Summit played a vital role in attracting and facilitating international investment into the United States by raising awareness of the wide range of opportunities and positive business climate and facilitating vital direct connections between investors and economic development organizations. Boone County is very fortunate to currently have 10 different countries with investment in our county.

Boone County Comprehensive Plan Boone County is seeking public comment on the draft version of its Comprehensive Plan Update. The Comprehensive Plan is a guide outlining the 8 features of our county: The draft version of the plan can be found at www.boonecountyil.org/content/boone-county-comprehensive-plan-2028. Boone County residents are invited and encouraged to submit written comments online or by mail through the comment period. Public meeting dates for review and discussion will be posted soon. After feedback is compiled from the review period, the final draft of the document will go through the formal adoption steps of the Boone County Planning Commission where a public hearing will be held then move to County Board. The Plan will replace the existing Comprehensive Plan and is expected to be ratified in late summer or early fall of 2018. Boone County residents and businesses are encouraged to provide feedback.
