Neighboring communities may have other signals. Regular testing is the first Tuesday of each month. Steady Tone: When the tornado siren goes off with a steady tone, and sounds for three (3) minutes (that is a long time), it means the Weather Bureau has issued a tornado warning. A tornado warning is issued when a tornado has been sighted in the area. Go to the basement or nearest tornado shelter. Tornado Watches: There is no siren signal for a tornado watch. If you get this message over the television or other media, it means the Weather Bureau has issued a tornado watch. Conditions are right for the formation of a tornado, but none has been sighted. Be alert for the warning siren.
