My reasons for running for the office of District #100 School Board are simple. There is a disconnect with taxpayers, the school board, administration, staff and students. I believe that gap needs to be sealed. More transparency is key on both sides of the fence. I will go into every opportunity, discussion and meeting with an open mind and take all sides into account. I have no personal agenda. My hope is to unite the community for the common good of all. My family has been a part of the Belvidere community for nearly 100 years. I have had the privilege of being taught by many of the teachers still in our schools today. I want to be sure my two young children have the same opportunities I had in this great district. I would be honored to serve the community which has provided me so much.
My Priorities as a member of Rock Valley College Board of Trustees... o To continue the work we've started to improve the quality of the area workforce. This is key to attracting new companies and expansion of existing opportunities that pay good wages, thus improving the standard of living in the area. o Transportation is a significant barrier to furthering one’s education at Rock Valley. We're working to develop learning opportunities in various remote locations. We also need to find or develop some form of public transportation to serve our various locations as well as the main campus. o Fear of a 2 year commitment for an associate degree is another barrier; so we are promoting numerous recognized certification opportunities that take less time in such areas as CNC machining, welding, truck driving and many more. Lack of readiness for college is another; so we continue to offer courses to help students get up to speed as well as provide GED opportunities.
• As a mother of two elementary students in Belvidere, my family will be part of District 100 for many years to come. I am running for the school board because I have a vested interest in the community’s education system. • I worked closely with education, business and community leaders for nearly 10 years and understand that education is the foundation of a community. • I believe it’s important to maintain a strong relationship with the area business community. Our industry leaders will be able to communicate the skill gaps in their workforce and we can better prepare our students to help fill those gaps. It’s critical that our students are properly equipped with the hard and soft skills that will put them in the forefront of tomorrow’s workforce. • The bottom line is we shall do what is best for the education of our students. We are not only working toward developing outstanding future employees, but are molding exceptional adults.

North Boone School District The North Boone Board REDUCED by $16 million the property taxes to District taxpayers for the next 10 years, beginning with this year. North Boone School Debt, overall has been REDUCED by over $20.5 Million since June 30, 2012 The inadequacy and replacement of the 1957 North Boone stadium has been a growing priority of administration and community members since 2006 and must be addressed for continued activities. The financing plan for the P.E., Track, Soccer, Band and Football stadium does not go on your property taxes and will not raise any tax. North Boone has a 20 year rolling maintenance plan that items drop off of when completed and new ones get added on to. Recent items, among others, that have dropped off have been the roof at the Capron Elementary, the update of the 1940’s kitchen at Manchester Elementary and security upgrades at all buildings. North Boone has upwards of 75% of graduated students that go on to take post high school courses. More then 51 percent of North Boone Students pay a reduced student lunch fee or nothing at all based on family resources.
